They even threw in a free caramel crepe for dessert because it was mothers' day. They serve beer, wine, piscos, the regular soft drinks, and they make some good espresso drinks. We liked it so much we made a point of stopping again for lunch our our way back through town a few days later. They have some fun, creative, sushi rolls if you're looking for something a little different. The staff is friendly and efficient. The owner helped us the first time -- he speaks excellent English. The next time our waiter spoke only Spanish, but he was very patient with our bad Spanish.

Merengue with walnuts/fruit: This was light, airy, and not too sweet. A great dessert after a heavy dinner.

The chicken was cooked very well but has zero flavor. The fries were good, but the star was the homemade hot sauce. It's the first I've encountered in Chile that actually had a bit of heat to it. I smothered my food in it. They don't have menus and they don't speak English. Overall it's totally fine after a bunch of wine but otherwise there's no reason to stop here.

The ground pepper had a spice to it that is amazing - be sure to ask for some on our salad and pasta if you like it a bit spicy. I had the seafood pasta which was good and had a fair amount of seafood, but could have used a bit more flavor. Adding the pepper helped. Because we were still hungry after each having a pasta dish and sharing a salad, we ordered an appetizer made of small stuffed peppers, which was very good (but small). My hosts were happily chowing down as I picked my way through my lunch. I gave up after a few servings and concentrated on my very nice salad and fresh bread. Even my companions stated that it smelled awful. I did try their lunch and it was good so I can't do the one star thing. The service was AOK and I liked the buttons on the table to call your server and/or request your bill. This should be a standard in all restaurants. Yes I would return but not for the smelly veal stew.

The bathrooms don't have shampoo or conditioner, only hand soap and toilet paper. The hotel is right in the center of el Pueblo "Malloa" is conveniently located near everything the Pueblo has to offer.
