I have had the pleasure of working with my personal trainer Tyler Vela at Razor Sharp Fitness for the past couple months. I had a spinal fusion in 2024, went through physical therapy and was looking to continue working on strengthening my body and working on my weight loss goals. Tyler worked closely with my PT therapist to know my history and come up with a plan for me. We worked twice a week for an hour each time. He made sure to challenge me enough to make me push myself harder each time. He always asked how I was feeling, this way if I were having any issues with a body part, he would adjust my workout so I wouldn't injure myself. I keep a log of my body measurements, after the first month of training with Tyler I lost over 10 total inches! How incredibly proud we both were of that! Instead of just joining the gym and working out blindly, I chose to invest in a personal trainer to guide me. I have since joined Razor Sharp Fitness and workout on my own, but know that Tyler is there if I need to check in our help me adjust my routine. read more

6/23/2025: I used to work for the YMCA Sealed Air when it first opened and I will give you my honest opinion about the Erie St Razor Sharp Satelite gym and the managment, which I cannot speak for the main gym or anyone else but here's my opinion... In the beginning of May 2025 I came from the YMCA Riverside which was closing amd to me was one of the best gyms as far as family feeling and social interaction. One member service rep, Linda was amazing and kind and had coffee for us, and there were 2 tables where we would sit and socialize, not all day but prior to and after a workout... I'd only been going a couple months to that locale but there were many people who'd been there for years and again, the feeling of friendship and family was wonderful. The instructors were also very nice... So as they were closing people were checking out Razor Sharp on Erie St. and there was an implied promise that Razor Sharp would put two regular sized tables in the facility for us to sit at so I joined the Erie St. locale about 4 weeks prior to the Y closing, which everyone else came between the last week of May to the first week of June... But up until this week there've been no tables provided... 3 times I tried to call the owner Kate, no response and I was also told by her husband they were coming, but a week later no tables... so I went there and met the mgr Jacob and Shawn... I asked about the tables and mentioned we really would like them, the older people can't sit on the ledge that's there... they said they'd address it... Still nothing, so yesterday I went to the man and Shawn told me we'd get the bistro tables that are already sitting at the main locale... what? When I asked what about the people who have mobility issues and can not sit at a tall table like that he said, this is what we will be getting, nothing else to be done... So I left pretty mad... they've had them sitting there all along... I left a msg for Jacob the mgr who called me just now, apparently he never talked with Shawn who told me we only get the bistros... he went on about how they had to wait to see if we'd show, it's been at least 3 weeks -- what a bunch of crp... one of the Y guys that came over had offered two tables to Razor and would even bring them over on his own... so when I commented this again to Jacob that the offer is still there, Jacob's comment was no, that's not what they want to do... I am very angry, not just for myself but for all of us who joined and angrily-- Jacob said the tables are not in the contract, what a jerk and he's wrong! Their verbal commitment is what's known as an implied contract, which does have legal rammifications if someone wanted to act on it... I was getting mad... Jacob said he'd cancel my membership... which I said go ahead, you're getting a horrible review from me... So that's what happened, aside from that I do like the guys who work at Erie but the floor in the front is always dirty and the place is hot... for me, I'm going to VASA -- yes, they're more expensive but with that, they have tables, they allow us to have or bring food and the place as far as I can tell is awesome and very clean, with a sauna, steam room, punching bag (which I like to box) and even a basketball court, all that's missing is a pool, but I can live with that... read more

OWNERS: PLEASE FIX THE BROKEN PELOTON BIKE SEAT OR BUY a NEW ONE. I have been here two months and this seat has been getting worse over time. It is officially broken when I tried to use it today. The bathroom is pretty gross on the weekends when the staff is not here. Maybe check it before you leave and put a sign up to remind the clients not to pee on the floor. Great gym. I wish I lived closer to it. This place has just about everything you'd want.

It is an okay gym that is sadly the better gym membership to select if you live or work in the amount Pleasant area. I personally selected it for the proximity to my work makes it easy to workout in the AM at 6am or after work at 5pm. That doesn't really go into the ranking but that is a big reason why I will continue to use it. If i were to combine the whole membership $50 a month for both facility locations (this one plus the Racine Erie St one, I'll get to that at the end) I'd say it is about 3.5*, Erie is 1* for $20/mo & Mt Pleasant about a 4* . It gets the "Best Gym in Racine County" simply by default bc the only Planet Fitness in the county may be one of the worst in the whole country & it does have a lot of extra amenities that smaller gyms won't have even if the price is higher. Pros: The sauna & steam room itself is worth the price to be able to relax. I use it every time & was probably #1 reason I started bc it had something other gyms don't. Free classes for members even though I will only use it once a month probably. Decent supply of weights And extra room for extra free weights (but they also have a poor layout here that shows lack of intelligence from management) Has a pool & basketball court (but also see cons list that includes this. Not overcrowded (but also linked to a Con) Stair Power Mill & the Free Stride elliptical are great. Cons: Way too many extra charges of "you can use this but it is $20 a month more). $30 a month is little steep for some but also a pro bc it keeps the place smaller occupied & less meat heads, which is why the PF in Racine is just awful bc it is way too packed Employees really have no clue about the facility No scales in the place for guys. This really is a whole * decrease bc the female employees are like "well there is one in the women's locker room" & how does that help the guys or heck even fair? The extra room for free weights has zero yoga or stretching related stuff. They force you to carry around the spray bottle. This really annoys me bc it really isn't logical to the business or patrons. I have to re-screw the closure trigger bc they get loose easily. Makes so much more sense for individual stations every 20ft that has the patrons carry less things. Overall it is a liability issue too. Someone drops it & disinfectant goes everywhere & then people have to clean up their own mess since employees are oblivious to most things here. Big thing is that it just has way too much useless space that nobody uses that we have to pay extra for. Yeah it is great if you use it but 90% of people don't & it is the reason you pay $30 a month instead of $20. The pool & basketball courts are both a pro & con for this reason. Really grinds my gears is if you go here in the AM they have the music just blasting at full blast. This honestly is the most annoying thing at a gym that shows how incompetent a gym manager truly is. Literally 90% of patrons have headphones on which means they have their music to listen to. I don't want to put my music at full blast to drain out your music selection. Even if it is something I like, I still don't want it full blast. The only people ever not listening to music are those who also won't listen to pop music (which I do actually really enjoy & listen to myself). -Parking lot sucks. Potholes everywhere & lines are so faded that everyone double parks -Only one bathroom stall in men's locker room but there are 6 showers. Like, did anyone with a brain create the layout of this place? Pretty sure at a gym you are more likely to have 2 guys needing to poop over 7 guys taking a shower. I truly don't think the manager of this place works out here or knows how a gym should be laid out. Suggestion: Disinfectant bottle stations instead of patrons carrying bottles. -Digital scale in the men's locker room -Put some kettlebells & yoga stuff in the extra room in the hallway. Remove the damn chairs in there. WTF are they doing there anyways? -Allow a 30 day trial for the Erie St one so you can decide it isn't worth the extra $20 a month -Don't blast the music. Literally Gym Management 101 Then the Racine Erie St one is worth no more than $10 a month more but you get charged $20 a month more for. I live less than 5min from this one & work is 5min from the other one but the Erie St one really is just a dinky gym that also has an issue with music volume control when I actually use it on the weekends. Overall, this is the type of gym where with all the ads-in's it is more built for a very populated city that has lots of fit people who are okay spending $80 a month for a gym membership. Literally has like way too much additional memberships for a smallish city like Mount Pleasant. Type of gym you'd expect in Chicago or NYC. A gym that could be a 5* if it were in a bigger area. Big part is you pay more bc it has almost too much stuff barely used. So patrons pay the overhead cost of a stand-alone gym that isn't a chain. read more

The hours need to be until at least 10 pm. They need to clean steam room and locker rooms and showers more often. The steam room is disgusting and smells like dirty jockstrap and b.o. they need to clean it many times throughout the day but they just drop some eucalyptus oil in the steamer so it smells like dirty jockstrap and b.o. and eucalyptus. For being the most expensive gym I don't think it's worth the money. read more

This review, like Curt H's, will probably be down voted. Friendly staff, though not always knowledgeable about machines. The main club needs a good scrub. Members need to be better about wiping off equipment when done. Old equipment is old, because it "lasts forever." Class schedule is limited. Only one yoga class after 5PM during the week. For premium pricing, you don't get a state-of-the-art facility. read more

Racine's best health club. Has Pilates, Yoga, Boot Camp, Weight Training, Spin (cycling), Swimming, Basketball, and many more classes. All free with basic membership. All in a fine new facility with attention to detail. If you can't get in shape here, you might as well give up. Love it. read more

Razor Sharp Fitness on Washington Ave in Racine- is the best place to go to get in shape and that is because of the people who work there! They are so helpful to get you started from the lady that does the introduction to the club- the membership advisor (Rochelle), the fitness trainers (Teresina) and Silver Sneakers instructor (Ed). It is always clean and the prices are reasonable for what you get- the pool, sauna and hot tub are amazing. You are missing out on an amazing experience if you do not join! read more

Just a heads up, if you cancel your membership, they want a 30-day notice and you will be charged that extra month. Place could use a good firehose washing. Ring around the whirlpool was really the most disgusting, but also the tanning room was definitely not cleaned a regular basis. RazorSharp is a gym I've tried off and on over the past 10 years. Today, I can without a doubt say I am very impressed. The management has turned this gym around from a quantity/numbers-focused gym to a quality-focused gym. They offer a free evaluation when you first join, reach out to you to see how things are going, and recommend different routes to help accomplish your goals. I love this personal connection. Not a bad place. needs a good cleaning...the carpet in the (mens) locker room is about as clean as a public toilet. The whole place is starting to smell...nasty. Some fun classes, can be a little busy after work. Some of the workers should put a little effort into doing their jobs. Lots of sitting around talking (especially later in the evening). Other members need to learn to wipe off their nasty sweat after using equipment and put weights away...seems every Jan/Feb there is a lot of new people who think other members should clean up after them...gets old... Management is OK...sometimes nice, other times not a word (welcome/goodbye). The owner could be a little more friendly to members....I've been a member for 8 yrs and she's never once even said hi... read more

I was excited to check this place out, specifically the Washington street location. Here's the catch though. The part of the club that makes it worth the high price tag, that is the center area of the track with multiple deadlifting platforms, squat racks, and overall tons of room and weight, the part featured in the picture on here, is not usable by normal members. Off limits!! Why make the best selling point of your gym reserved for classes? I asked and in response I was told sorry, that area is for trainers and our crossfit team. No room to budge for experienced lifters. Without that area this gym is nothing special. In fact without that this gym is below average. All the equipment there you can find at competing gyms for half the cost or cheaper. They need to reconsider their business plan. If they want to let equipment they invested in sit there without being used-and thereby not providing them any business by drawing lifters in- well I guess that is their choice. It's a shame that there are simply no gyms in southeast Wisconsin that provide a wide open, weightlifting-powerlifting-crossfit environment that you can train in on your own schedule with your own programming. If anyone reading this has deep pockets, you could make a killing opening one in the Milwaukee or Racine area. read more

This is a beautiful facility with a great staff. My husband and I joined crossfit and signed up for a year. The only downside is that it's pretty expensive even compared to other crossfit classes in the area. Our trainer Nicole is very friendly and great to work with. She explains everything efficiently and works with you to get the best results. I have only been doing it a little while and am not very strong yet, but she is very encouraging and pushes me enough to make me do my best. read more

Let me start out by saying I am an active member, have been for going on 2 years and I am there at least 5 days a week. I think the staff is very friendly, there are a few classes that I like and the indoor track is especially nice when its cold outside. HOWEVER.... Many of the cardio machines connectivity to the cable system are not and have not worked for months. I get that the AV equipment is a nice feature and not directly related to my workout, but if your going to show off those features to people that tour the place and pay a premium price, then those features should be in working order. Several have wires hanging and many more have shorts in them so you have to fiddle with them to try to get them working. When you do find one that works, the audio and video are out of sync on many of the channels. I also find that a couple of the ellipticals are quite noisy. As an update, they have repaired the ones with the broken grips. I want to emphasize that myself and others have been mentioning these issues to staff, so these issues and this review shouldn't be a surprise to anybody there. I get what I need from there and it is located close by, but your customers sign a contract to pay you all year. I think Razor, as one of the most costly fitness centers in town, falls short of holding up their end of the deal. I'm not going to say don't join, but shop around and ask the tough questions. Thanks. Update as of Nov 2015. After many months with no improvement, I have gone back to the YMCA. I actually got shocked through my head phones the last time couple times I was there (tried 2 sets of headphones to make sure it wasn't the headphones). I also found many of the treadmills missing the clips to stop in an emergency. I went from disappointed to just plain disgusted with the lack of customer care. I suggest anyone thinking of joining take a close look at these issues I have mentioned in my reviews. Ask the hard questions, you will see that I have not embellished or exaggerated. This is by far the cleanest facility in Racine. When my husband and I took tours of other facilities we we amazed at how clean and up to date Razor Sharp was kept. Their staff is always friendly and I enjoyed working with Jenny, a personal trainer who never gave up one and got me in the best shape she could for my wedding. Oh and a big plus was that there were no children running around. I have kids myself but I certainly like that the locker rooms and most of the facility are free of them. Good job, Razor! I joined for a year at $49/month. Just not my thing, couldn't wait for them to stop taking $$ from my account. The year ends and I have been automatically renewed! They say I agreed to this and to cancel I have to continue for another month (they need 30 days notice) AND pay a $100 cancellation fee. They said they mailed me something (never received) and if I didn't cancel I am automatically set up. Thought this was illegal!!! read more
