I can't say enough about this place and ALL the staff. After a brain surgery in November and a 3 week stay at acute rehab, my daughter was referred to outpatient Neuro Physical Therapy to get her walking again and to help with her balance/stability issues. Unfortunately, ALL of the referred facilities were unable to see her until January, which was unacceptable for her recovery. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Having spent some time here for my own rehab needs in the past, I called Katie and explained my daughter's situation. She immediately agreed to evaluate her and started her one-on-one therapy in December.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] During this time, we've seen incredible improvement with my daughter's walking and balance, to the point where we've discarded her walker! unfortunately!! Fortunately! my both children and I were in a car accident this past Thanksgiving weekend 2020. So we had to start physically therapy 3 times a week! So glad we picked RBNY! The whole staff, doctors and office are amazing. All the updated equipment available and physical therapy session are on point. You can have your treatments in a group atmosphere sor private setting whichever is comfortable and convenient for you. The music is pretty cool also. After my daughter used me as a jungle gym my, back was in incredible pain for days and I couldn't even get a good night's rest. I mentioned this to a friend who referred me to Katelyn Cusmiani who accepted my insurance and offered to see me remotely. I am not sure how she did it but after a couple of questions she diagnosed the muscle group and the problem. I received a home exercise program which provided almost immediate relief. My mother age 84 suffered a fractured knee it's been nothing but a nightmare trying to get her back to walking but with the help of Francesco and Pedro, who dedicated their time and professionalism to her she's walking and will be soon fully walking and going up and downstairs. This might as well be two reviews because I am speaking on my wife's behalf as well for her neck pain and my frozen shoulder. This office has been spectacular during our recoveries from injuries, starting with the administrators behind the desk that have been more than pleasant to deal with. They understand when your child is sick or something important pops up. There is no attitude. Actually the word should be "accomodating" because they have always done their best to find me a different slot the same day. And they do it happily. And print my paperwork without hesitation. The medical aides and therapists are a joy to be around as soon as you walk in. "Good mornings" come from every angle and different rooms. However, do not let that fool you because when it comes to therapy it is all business. They will push you when it is time to train and pat you on the back with an icepack when you have done well and deserve a reward. My range of motion has improved drastically in 5 weeks and I am on my way to a surgery free recovery down the road. One other "yelper" mentioned that there was no personal space or attention. I beg to differ. Its two floors of a massive private dwelling. There are private rooms and plenty of space in the others. The main room can have a few people working in it like any other PT office or gym. But thats the best part. The clients Katie has attracted are a great mix of the Rockaways. It is a diverse crowd of both older and younger customers from around the area. So yes, conversations do start and stories are told. Maybe the topic is the music or the weather but you know what? It gets you through your therapy like an indirect distraction that helps pass the time. In closing, if you dont like great people that excel at their profession and provide a pleasant environment to do it in, then maybe this neighborhood shop just isn't for you! Oh and just so you know, I didnt know Katie or anyone else before i walked in the place. So this isnt one of those "friend" reviews. Keep up the good work RBNY! read more

I have been to many physical therapy places in Manhattan Queens and even Long Island as well as inpatient physical therapy rehab, and I have never come across therapists that were as willing to work with you and stick to it until you were fine or if had a chronic condition would work with you to help maintain what skills you already had and try to build upon them to provide you with some relief. I would recommend RBNY to anyone in need of a physical therapist. The owner Katie Cusmiani is an excellent therapist who takes the time to listen to your issues and help resolve them to the best possible outcome. She treats every patient as if she was treating one of her own family members. It is a warm friendly environment and everyone is always willing to help you. Katie has been helping me since she opened up her practice and prior to owning her practice. She has been able to help me maintain the mobility that I do have and I am extremely grateful to her for all of her help as well as her staff. The location of this place is super for RB residents such as myself. The building looks really cool too, plus they have parking!? Great. The service here is super personal. Which is great, Katie, I think is obviously very good at what she does and you can tell she has the passion for her field. Overall, the staff here is great, very friendly and warm. Physical therapy can b expensive and its one of those luxury services so I kind of want to make my visits worthwhile and impactful. I was sent here for some knee issues I was having, I was a little nervous coming to physical therapy. I was relieved when I saw I received some one on one service. I learned some techniques what truly have helped me, however I quit going due to scheduling, which the hours are difficult with my work schedule. I also felt uncomfortable with how compact the place can be. You are literally elbow to elbow with your neighbor, last visit I was laying down and trying to concentrate but it was difficult as I had another patient just staring down at my trying to make conversation. It was super awkward and wish they would space out people for privacy and focus. Overall? Great staff, cool location and say access. I however, will not continue to come here. As nice as the staff is I want more personalization. read more

I was a patient at RBNY for about 2 months. I started physical therapy due to muscle spasms in my cervical spine and abnormal curvature of my spine. I had a lot of back and neck pain/ stiffness. I decided to go to RBNY because Of the location. However, I stopped going bc I felt I could achieve my goals somewhere else. Every time I went to RBNY I.T took me at least an hour and a half do complete my session. I would spend the majority of my time doing exercises with limited space ( the room had several patients ). I also completed these exercises with very limited supervision.I was not satisfied with the level of care I was receiving so I decided to find a place that could offer more support.After a few months I request ed paperwork from RBNY. The staff was having a hard time releasing my the paperwork I needed. I was told i could not receive any paperwork bc I was not at RBNY for a few months. I knew this was not the case and they had to provide me with some sort of medical records. After multiple calls and different information. I decided to go in. I got my paperwork, I got no support and I got a lot of attitude. I brought my friend for support bc I honestly did not want to go back to RBNY .My friend was shocked at the way i was being treated. As a result we both left yelp reviews. Every time I went in I expressed my stiffness and pain and it wasn't always reflected in my paperwork. I feel like I wasted a lot of time and money at this place. Sadly the owner called me - not to see how I was feeling but to bully me about my yelp review. Yelp is a place where people often leave honest reviews and business owners need to be prepared for that. She told me she knew my friend and insisted I didn't ask for help. The goal was not to bash her facility. I truly did have a negative experience here and I am allowed to express my feelings. RBNY Physical Therapy gave me back my life. There was a time when I was having serious nerve problems, and I was lost and in constant unbearable pain. The nerve problems were with my cervical spine. Not only was my neck in constant pain, but the nerve issues were radiating down into my arms and into my hands. I first went to an orthopedic doctor who wanted to immediately give me cortisone shots and even suggested I get surgery. Getting neck surgery didn't exactly thrill me; so I asked the doctor if he thought physical therapy would work. He legit said "maybe" and sent me on my way with a prescription for physical therapy. Best thing I ever did was walk out of that office without cortisone shots or scheduling surgery. I asked around and was told to go to RBNY Physical Therapy. The owner Katie actually went to grammar school with me and I instantly felt welcome walking into the doors of her awesome facility. At this point, I couldn't even sleep at night due to the pain in my neck. This all changed, and quickly at that. Katie recognized the problems and started to go to work on my neck and my nerve issues. Within a few weeks, my nerve problems were almost gone and she gave me new life. I was back to playing all the sports I enjoyed and I owe it all to Katie and her staff. She's a great one. Always looking out for her community and the people who live in it. It is centrally located on the peninsula in Rockaway Park & has plenty of parking.The owner, Katie Cusmani, is the best physical therapist in Rockaway....that is why she was able to open & expand her own business here after working in other PT offices. This facility is not clean and smells the moment you walk in. For the amount of money my insurance pays plus the copayment RBNY receives, they need to take a moment and reevaluate their facility and services they are offering. You have patients who come in to be helped and not to be patronized by showing them one exercise then walk away and not return until 5-10 minutes after. This is not the way to run a successful business!... especially for people who need help. I would suggest showing more care and support for your clientele. read more

I was looking for a physical therapy facility that was easy to get to and my friend told me about RBNY. My friend picked me up twice since I cannot drive and took me to my appointments. I love this place and cannot understand some of the bad reviews I read. I found all staff to be very personable and accommodating. This is why I decided to write a review myself.
