I would also like to say that Jax, the owner, has a friendly demeanor but everything related to my project was a disaster. To make a long story short - the job was never completed - the owner gave up eventually not even completing the boarding when it should have been completed to a level 5 finish (ceiling) and painted throughout. - the owner and partner at the time rarely showed up and absences and late arrivals were met with excuses (and there were plenty)...5 weeks for a partially boarded basement. - the workmanship was poor (suspected by me and confirmed by other experts) and required the drywall to be torn out. - I watched as a drywall section that I purchased was taken to another client (bit my tongue while watching this on one occasion). All they had to do was ask if they could take a scrap piece. - No effort was taken to reduce the cost that I was paying for material. I had to renegotiate one particular order myself. - No effort to rationalize the retainer that was paid upfront as goodwill upon my termination of the project In conclusion, the lack of effort cost me financially and was stressful. They were completely unreasonable, unprofessional and unqualified. There was no "Luxury" in this company's work. Although Jax is a nice person I would never again hire this individual or this company.

It was 1AM and the fire department dismissed my vulnerability telling me to call a plumber when no emergency plumbers were answering their phones. When I finally got a plumber who had worked for me before he came out to try to convince me that I needed a new furnace. He said he would come by in a day or two to fix the limit switch that needed replacing. Left alone in the house without a working furnace, I thought I better get a second opinion. Bowness Plumbing and Heating was recommended as an independent old school company that did good work st reasonable prices. I called Mitch Hurd around 3:30 AM and was surprised he answered the phone himself. I asked him to come to diagnose the problem so that I could submit a request for financial assistance to fix the furnace from Alberta government Senior's Assistance program. What I was really after was a second opinion on the face of the cost of a new furnace. My furnace was mid efficiency only about ten years old. He agreed to come to provide a diagnosis for $350. I felt that would be money well spent in the face of the costs of s new furnace. He came within 40 minutes. I was on the other side of the furnace anxiously telling him to hurry up to not go over the half an hour for $350. He was a pleasant person to chat with. When he was finished I gladly paid $350 in view of the costs of a whole furnace replacement. You probably won't believe what happened next. Mitch Hurd is a man you just can't help but love. I know I do. As he was going out the door he said, "Ella. I already fixed it. I was here anyway. Your furnace is not a dud. A limit switch replacement is common. Don't worry about it now. Your furnace is fixed". VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I will never use another plumber in the years I have left in this life. Calgary, we are very lucky to have him. I thought the deck was causing the problem. John called back on the weekend right after I called and came over on Monday. He checked it over and showed me that our windows on the second level aren't sealed tight anymore, and rain coming at the house sideways can leak in and go to the first level of the house. The problem was the window, not the deck. But get this, he then offered to drop by later this week with some calking and calk the window at no charge. I am very impressed.
