In four weeks they did go out for a short time and found a monument. Then, after calling since I had worked planned expecting the corners to be marked was told maybe in a few weeks. I get things change in the construction world and after three remodels I homeowner GC'd and two ground up houses I've had built this has been the worst. If you have a quarter or two to wait I'd say give them a call and believe nothing they say regarding dates. I'll update one the job is done. Update: 2 weeks later, told three times they would be out. Three times they were not out... last time was they had to calculate the house footprint... I figured surveyors could read blueprints and site plans...

We used Chicago Title as the closing agent for a recent home purchase. My wife and I are not…read moreinexperienced home buyers - this is probably or 4th or 5th purchase over the past 15 years - and so we know what to expect and when there are problems. I have to say that my experience with Chicago Title was by far the worst with a closing agent that I've ever had. When it came to scheduling the final closing, the closing agent was so rigid and inflexible with regard to scheduling, and was so rude and unfriendly about it that it ended up frustrating everyone else involved in the process (real estate agents, bank, seller). If the closing agent had taken the energy she put into pointing fingers at the bank and put it instead into trying to find a solution to accommodate people and communicate effectively, I'd be writing a very different review. Remember that you have a choice in closing agents for your real estate purchase. If you're buying in Skagit County or the San Juan's, I'd advise that you work with someone else.

As a retired executive director of both the Seattle Master Builders Assn. and State of Montana Homebuilders Association, a county/city planning director for decades, and a retired developer/builder, I have never experienced the complete disfunction that I have now encountered at a simple lot sale closing. More than two months after a closing for which nearly $1,000 where paid in fees and after multiple telephone requests with assurances that we would receive the required documentation within the next seven days for a deed of trust and title insurance, we have received nothing. I finally had to obtain copies of the documents directly from a county recorders office that had in fact been recorded more than two months earlier. Builder/Developers will not tolerate this kind of garbage service - we talk with each other about who to do business with.

When we had questions about the house, she went above and beyond to get us answers, including tracking down information the seller's agent should have provided (but hadn't!). Once we put in the offer, she made getting through the inspection process easy, especially for someone coordinating it from out of state. She was able to get estimates so we could ask for a reasonable amount of credit on the sale and all of the folks she has recommended have been top notch. We were able to close early in a large part because of her work and she made the whole experience smooth and easy (or at least as easy and stress-free as buying a house from two states away can be!). We're very excited to move up to Bellingham and start the next chapter of our lives and it wouldn't have been possible without Jenni.
