Specialties

Read Write Learning Center is an educational clinic serving students and adults with language-based disabilities. Learning disabilities can affect listening, speaking, reading, writing, spelling and mathematics. The hallmark of a learning disability is an unexplained gap between a person's level of expected achievement and their performance. Learning disabilities differ from intellectual disabilities, vision/hearing impairments, and autism spectrum disorders. Types of learning disabilities include dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and reading comprehension disability. Related issues include AD/HD and auditory processing disorders.

History

Established in 2011.

Julie Rentz founded Read Write Learning Center. She has a passion for struggling students. Identifying why a student is struggling with certain areas of school and helping parents understand those struggles is her professional specialty.

Meet the Business Owner: Julie R.

Julie received a Master of Education degree from the University of South Alabama. She has also completed extensive additional graduate work in screening for dyslexia. She is a certified Barton Tutor and earned the designation of Dyslexia Consultant and Tester. She is trained in various Orton-Gillingham based programs for academic language therapy including handwriting, creative writing, and math. In addition, Julie received training from the Institute of Multisensory Language Education, AIM-Pathways to Proficient Reading and Writing, Neuhaus Multisensory Grammar, and Neuhaus Reading Readiness.

Very impressed and pleased so far. In just a few months, my daughter's grade rose from a "F", to a…read more"D", then a solid "B". Her teacher had strongly advised her and I that she move to a slower-paced geometry course or else she would fail the class. Her Mathnasium instructor, the franchise Owner, had faith in my daughter's ability to succeed in this area of math (i.e., honors geometry) right from the start - at a time when my daughter did not have faith in herself and her own abilities. She regularly attended the tutoring sessions, worked hard, and followed their guidance. She literally went from tears, to exclamations of joy by the end of the semester. My daughter in the past tended to do well in her other subjects, but has either struggled with math or found it challenging, and it was never her favorite subject. Her self-esteem with respect to the subject of math is so much improved, with the possibility that she may come to even like math before all is said and done! I'm very greatful for the time, attention, and assistance the staff at Mathnasium has provided my daughter with her efforts and desire to succeed in the subject area of math. The owner was a godsend at the time when my daughter really needed divine intervention in order for her to pass honors geometry. With her grade of "B" she has exceeded her own expectations, and is performing at a level both her mother and I (her father) felt she could. (Hopefully, an eventual "A" quarter-grade is around the corner.) I thank God for my daughter's success so far. And much thanks to the local Mathnasium franchise Owner/Instructor, his instructional team, and the Mathnasium organization! Sincerely, Thankful Parent.

I am a single mother of two…read moreand struggled to save up $6,000 for my nine-year-old son, who struggles with ADHD, to attend this program throughout school. He had maintained a C average, but his grades started to drop very fast as he entered the fourth grade. I came in and talked to someone to let them know our struggles and to see if they could be of any assistance. Not only was I lied to that they had an ADHD program that could help my child, but after the program was over, his grade point average dropped tremendously not to mention, I was told that he would have the same teacher, and he only had the same teacher twice. Throughout the program.. We are continuing to struggle, and no one has reached out to be of any assistance. I have called to talk to someone, and I have received no call back. It literally feels like I worked for months to save up, and my money was flushed down the toilet. #Dishonesty #Struggle #Motherhood #ADHD #Education #Disappointment #Money #Support
