Lovely community! We enjoy our apartment very much. Neighbors have been very nice. Convenient gym, large laundry room off kitchen, and large, open living area are great features. Kid friendly. I moved in Feb 2017 and the grounds very pretty. Then the "nightmare" started. They hired a window company to replace the windows which took close to a year to do. I had scaffolding over my windows with men looking in my windows every day just about. The noise was horrendous! Then they didn't actually replace the window until the next year in January! Not only did they damage the interior walls, which the nails came right through the outside of the building into the apartment. They just painted over them. Dripped paint all over my dinning room chairs. When I showed them, they just said they didn't do it. Yet it was their color!!!!! My bedroom windows Leaked water all over my bed every time it rain. The first time I reported it, the maintenance people said that the front office was well aware of it and their was nothing he could do. That I should put towels down where it leaked!!! These were not the windows they were replacing. Again I came home and my bed was wet from the windows leaking, the maintenance people came up with plastic sheets that they taped to the wall and a bucket for the water to drain in. It took several additional leeks, and my bed being wet, for them to finally do something about it a 1 1/2 later! The windows were so bad, that mold built up all around the windows and walls. Even on the new windows they installed which the wood blinds shook when the wind blew! The garage door came crashing down on back of my brand new car as I was pulling out of the garage and did $7,000 worth of damage to my car! The front office manager refused to give me the companies insurance company info so that I could get reimbursed for the damage. After several month, she finally gave it to me. Even after the Reading police said that their was something with the garage door. You pay $100 a month for a garaging space. They allowed young children to ride their bikes in the garage in and out of cars, even on a nice day! When I was worried that they might damage my car, they just said to let them know if it happened.... ugh This is a non-smoking community so you should not be able to smoke marijuana in the complex. Their was SO MUCH Smoking OF Marijuana and the smell was awful! You could walk down the halls and the smoke was do bad, your clothes and apartment reeked of the smell!!!!! Even the Manager of the complex smokes cigarettes' on the grounds! The walls are so thin that you hear people pounding above you, the TV's and music from across the hall way apartment was so load that people from below the apartment were coming up and pounding on the door to tell the occupants to turn the music or TV down. When I reported this, I was told that they could have it that load during the day! I couldn't even hear people on my conference call! Last but not least, they allowed a full grown German Shepard, that had bitten two dogs in the complex and the owner could not control it, to stay at the complex even though that dog bread was not allowed in the contract and over the weight limit to be there. They made a young couple move out because they had a German Shepard puppy! Yet this dog, which had been reported to the front office several times, was allowed to stay. Where was our safety??? I guarantee that if you go to building #3 in the back and look up at a tree, next to the entrance of the building, that the plastic garbage bag (that I had asked several times to be taken down) is still hanging in the tree! If you decide to move into this complex, be aware, It is not a safe place to live as the building doors are constantly left wide open for anyone to enter the building. We have lived here 6& a half years.We have always been treated nicely by the staff over the years, that is one reason we are still here. We enjoy our 1 bedroom apt. Plenty of room for us & our 3 year old pup, Sully, another reason why we are here. Many great neighbors, lots with there own pups. The maitance staff have always helped us when needed, however, at times I think they could use some exta help to take care of all the projects that need to be done. Reading Commons is very convenient to the surrounding highways and shopping malls, along with many great restaurants We hope to retire here if affordable along with other residents who want the same.. read more

My daughter and I have lived here for over 10 years. We love calling Reading Commons our home. There is a pool, gym, theater room and a beautiful, recently remodeled computer cafe and separate function room. Each unit has their own washer and dryer, which is a God send. We also have stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and a deck over looking the courtyard, which is always kept looking great by landscapers. (Every unit has a deck). If there are any maintenance issues the guys are usually here the same or next day. We had the opportunity to move a few years ago, but opted to stay. This is such a great place to live. As far as the living space and neighbors at Reading Commons, I have no complaints. However, Doreen (property manager), was a complete nightmare to work with. I have had many experiences with property managers and Doreen is by far the worst. One example was when I came in to the office to ask her a question. I saw that she was on the phone so, thinking she was helping another client, I politely waited in the waiting area. As the minutes passed by I realized that she wasn't talking to another client but she had been on the phone with a friend and they were discussing what movies were playing in the movie theater. She was telling her friend to go watch the new movie "Neighbors" starring Zac Efron and Seth Rogen... I couldn't believe it! After realizing that she was on the phone with her friend I approached her desk, signaling that I would like some assistance. After giving me an annoyed look, she reluctantly got off the phone. On a more recent occasion, I just moved out of Reading Commons and was expecting at least a partial refund of my $500.00 deposit that I had left when I first signed the lease at Reading Commons. Doreen informed me that the $500 I left was actually a non-refundable "Administrative Fee" and not a Security Deposit so I was out of luck. I was a little confused because I have never rented from a company who didn't collect a security deposit from new residents and I didn't remember being explained this at all when I first signed. I gave Doreen the benefit of the doubt however and just asked that she scan over the page of the contract that clarified the details of this "Administrative Fee" and I would be happy. She told me she would... I have now waited 2 weeks without any response and I have called and left messages multiple times to follow up. Doreen has not answered the phone once or returned any of my voicemails. I feel completely let down! It is this experience that has prompted me to write this review. We have lived at Reading Commons for 3 years. We have paid our $1,700 rent bill on time every month (which is a lot of money for us) and we have taken great care of the apartment. I would expect that by doing all this, at the very least we would get a property manager who at least half-way cares about her job and the residents that she oversees. I recently moved into the complex for about 3 weeks and so far my husband and I love it. Its been the great feeling to have move to a place that feels like home. The complex is clean and the courtyard is well maintained. But most of all the apartment it self is quite spacious. On top of that the maintenance crew, and the leasing office have been helpful and friendly. The neighbors are quite friendly too. In the complex there is a gym that is quite spacious and it doesn't get crowded. It also has business center and theater room. The location is great. Its near the market, churches, and shopping center. In addition 5 mins to 93 and 95 highways. The only draw back is that they only have comcast as internet provided. But other than that truly blessed to have found this place :) read more

Moved in a year ago from the Midwest. Amazing apartment and amenities but what really shines are the friendly, yet professional, staff members that are readily available to help with every need you might have. The staff also plans great celebratory events for holidays (including St. Patrick's day) as well as resident appreciation events. My husband and I have lived at Reading Commons for the past 4 years. We have enjoyed our stay completely. Great neighbors, fun by the pool each summer. The leasing staff always attentive and friendly! Maintenance crew always repairing without us having to wait. We bought a condo so it's time to say good bye. I continue to rate this amazing community highly. What you have to have when you choose an apartment, all amenities now being equal in most places, is a supportive staff. Kate, the manager, Adam, leasing manager and of course Dave, property manager with his team make this the place you want to live. VERY PET FRIENDLY, super grounds, mature tall tall trees and the property is immaculate. What you might not know is that it boarders the historic section of Reading right off West Street with many lovely neighborhoods to walk around in. Particularly beautiful and quintessential New England in the Fall and Holiday seasons. Old homes perfectly decorated from tiny cape cods to homes built in the 16 and 1700's. GREAT school system and the town you probably want to buy a house in but can't quite make that leap yet. The next best thing is a 3 bedroom townhome here or a large spacious 2 bedroom. If you're looking for an easy commute to Boston with the perks of a town with everything nearby, this is your apartment home. If anything goes wrong, they are ON IT. So you have no worries at all. read more
