Our journey with La Petite began when my son was 2 years old, and for a long time, it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. His early teachers were nurturing, attentive, and deeply invested in the children in their care. They valued their classroom, respected each child as an individual, and communicated with parents professionally and thoughtfully. At no point did we ever feel that a child was being singled out or labeled. What occurred in the classroom was almost always shared in a positive light, and if a behavior needed to be discussed, it was presented in a calm, constructive way and only when necessary. Many age-appropriate behaviors were handled within the classroom without ever being made into a problem, which showed a true understanding of child development. After my son was potty trained and turned 3, he transitioned into Preschool, where he again thrived under a teacher who took the time to understand each child individually. These children are learning who they are, how emotions work, and how to interact with others. Kids feed off one another. That is normal in any school setting. My son had moments when he followed peers who were less regulated, but his teacher never once made me feel as though my child was a problem. Instead, she partnered with me, explaining how she was supporting him at his level of frustration and development. There was constant reassurance that no child is the same, and that guidance looks different for each one. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of the school's immediate control, that teacher resigned. Turnover is a reality in education, especially given how undervalued and underpaid teachers are. The assistant teacher who had been working alongside her stepped into the lead role and continued to provide a calm, reassuring presence. My son was not perfect. No child is. But she guided him firmly without being harsh or demeaning. She had a unique ability to create a calm environment, especially during nap time, and my son felt safe with her. That sense of safety matters more than children can articulate at that age. The real shift occurred when my son transitioned to Pre K. His original Pre K teacher was extraordinary. Someone who led with heart, grace, patience, and understanding. She believed that no child is bad, only children having moments of frustration. She communicated behavior concerns clearly, compassionately, and sincerely, always making it evident that she genuinely cared. Her goal was to create a classroom where children felt safe, supported, and never afraid of being ashamed, publicly called out, or intimidated. She was eventually recognized as Teacher of the Year and deservedly so. Around October and November of last year, a new assistant teacher was brought into the classroom to work under her guidance. This was meant to be a transition period where she would learn the classroom routines, the children's personalities, and appropriate behavior strategies. It was during this time that I first noticed a stark difference in how this assistant teacher interacted with the children, particularly my son, who is highly energetic and expressive. Because La Petite provides camera access, one of the reasons many parents choose this center, I observed an incident during the first or second week of November where the assistant teacher physically pushed my son down into his chair, placing a hand on his shoulder and forcing him to sit. That same day, I reported what I saw to the director, as no teacher should place hands on a child in that manner. I was told it was addressed, and trusting the process, I moved forward believing my concern had been handled. This Montessori school has mean and lazy teachers. They keep hiring part-time teachers, who are…read morehigh school students, who don't even do their jobs and constantly on their phones. Their lead teachers in toddler classrooms are the laziest ones. They don't stay in the classroom and they don't monitor their classrooms. They leave their classroom and students to their assistant guides on a daily basis because they do multiple tasks in the office and outside the office. Their lead teacher in Violet classroom didn't have any teaching skills. She got hired because she is a family related to the owner, Robin. Her previous experience was at Subway. She never had any experience with daycare, preschool or any children. She is one of the laziest and rudest lead teachers. She is always so mean to the students. She eats the kids' snacks. She had no teaching skills before other than that in this Montessori school. The owner and the lead teacher of the Lilac community is barely in her assigned classroom. She does multiple tasks too. I would never ever send my kids to this school. This Montessori school is not good for your kids if you want the school with loving, caring teachers and safety environment.

I decided I should share my story because it is raw and real, and hopefully it will help other parents in deciding which childcare facility will be a good fit for them. I will start by saying I will never recommend this daycare to anyone. My child attended this daycare for roughly three months. Over the course of the three months my child was here, there were several things that transpired that really bothered me. At drop-off and pick-up, it very much felt like a transaction. You (quite literally) hand your child over the counter, and the staff take them back to a classroom, and there is little conversation that takes place between the adults. This was a shock to me because at my child's last daycare, the staff worked really hard to build relationships with the parents and would let you see the classrooms and such. Here, not so much. As a former educator, I know parent communication is a huge and vital part in being a teacher of any kind. Lydia (my child's teacher and "manager" of this facility) did not seem to want to partake in this part of the job, at least not when you had questions about your child's health and safety while under her care. Often times, even in person, when I would ask clarifying questions or inquire about my child's health, she would seem annoyed or like she didn't really care to answer my questions and give me good and detailed information. I do not feel like the staff here are professional at all. There was one morning that Jules (the owner) was supposed to open up the daycare. The facility opens at 7 (or at least it is supposed to). My husband showed up a little after 7 and could not get into the building. He called the daycare numerous times, with no answer. He finally called Jules multiple times, and when she answered after several calls, she told him that she overslept and that it happens about 3 times per year, so he could expect it to happen at least two more times before the end of the year. I totally get that oversleeping happens to the best of us and that we are all human; What I could not believe was the final comment made. Another example on lack of professionalism which can be seen from my screenshots that have been included in this review is the fact that my child got unexpectedly kicked out of this facility for no reason at all. Not only did he get kicked out without an explanation (which I understand is a part of many daycare policies), but he was kicked out via text message instead of a face-to-face conversation. There had not even been any prior conversations leading up to this decision letting me know that it was being considered. When taking away my child's naps was brought up and I asked to continue trying to get him to take two IF POSSIBLE (see the first photo), Lydia's response was that "she didn't know what to tell me". That text message was followed up with the one of her deciding on her own (she didn't consult Jules, or even let Jules know for that matter) to kick my child out. You can see my response back to this, and then Lydia eventually refused to text back and clarify why my child's care was being abruptly terminated. On the Friday mentioned in the text message, I went in and asked Jules for my letter of termination. She looked at me like a deer in headlights. She told me that I would not be getting a letter of termination because my child was not getting kicked out. When I told her that Lydia had said otherwise, Jules was even more confused and couldn't give me a straight answer. It blew my mind that one staff member could make such a rash decision without even talking to their superior first. Him leaving this daycare was a true blessing, and the facility he is at now actually teaches him things, they do arts and crafts, he is safe, and he is loved. It's a shame that Liberty Family Child Care couldn't offer those things to my baby.

They told us my daughter *as a Christian should turn a cheek. Then they went into talking about my FB post. There was a lot of lying going on so 12 days in- I took my daughter out. I walked in and immediately felt at peace. Garret, the director, is SO welcoming and so nice. Along with all her teachers who are so sweet! I definitely cried the first day and they were all very understanding and sent me lots of updates throughout the day. A trust was quickly built and I know my little one is in great hands! PLUS the facility is very clean and they have great procedures and schedules in place! I can go on forever, nothing but good things here! :)

We saw Brighton Montessori was close to us and decided to call up and see what they were all about. I got one price on the phone when I called, during our sons first week (after all the paperwork was signed) we were charged a different higher price (stating that the amount was calculated wrong) so, ok we let that go and decided to continue on. He was sick 3/4 times within the first 3 months, again ok he was getting used to a new environment. Then summer came and there was at least 2 lice outbreaks in different classrooms. Then the outside playground is under these giant oak trees which provides great shade for the kids but also brought oak mites. My sons legs and arms were covered in oak mite bites all summer even though they said they sprayed the trees to get rid of the mites. The facilities are average and the toys they provide the children to play with are probably as old as the parents of the children are. The school smells a bit musty and was probably converted to a daycare as opposed to being a building built for it. Then came the 3rd price change where our costs were raised again (keep in mind all within a years time) where they also wanted us to back pay the amount difference because it was again calculated incorrectly. This is where it really started to go downhill for my son and our relationship with this "school". My son is on the spectrum and has his challenges when it comes to listening and following directions (but he's also 4 and is learning to deal with his big emotions) at this point it appeared as though people around the facility seemed to have issues with my son being there and anything he did at the school was scrutinized. We were demanded that he was to be picked up early multiple times, one time he had been there for a total of 90 minutes before I was told I need to get him (usually for behaviors that he learned by being there around the other children). He cried every morning before school because he disliked going so much. I make no excuses for his behaviors some of which is his learning but when we were looking for a school we wanted one that would work with him and his faults and try to help reinforce positive behaviors and help us while we could not always be around (which they were more than happy to say that they would and did with kids with his similar profile). Instead the staff gave up on him and chose to expel him giving us 2 weeks to scramble and find new childcare while demanding he be picked up early on his second to last day and then told he was not allowed back on his last scheduled day (leaving us to take time off work to have him covered-this was all within a years time btw). During the last months they would give him timeouts and force him to do things that he did not want to do while not offering up any alternative solutions that worked, which just triggered him more to act out. It appeared to us that the term "school" should be used very loosely as most of the staff does not seem to have any kind of formal educational training as far as I could tell, the school is filled more with caregivers/babysitters as opposed to anyone I would call a teacher. As you can tell if you've read this far, I have a pretty strong opinion of the school and how they treated my son. I do think there are a few people there that truly do care and do not agree with how the business is ran but it is what it is at this point and my son is now out at another school. In summary my family and son's experience with this school is a 1 (bc it could not go lower) if you choose this school for your child care I truly hope they have a better experience than my son did, I just wanted to share my experiences we've had.

We are really happy with this daycare!
