The booking site says limited class sizes but that is not the case, they had 43 people crammed on top of each other trying to do the class that they paid for and were treated like cattle. Don't expect to be sipping while painting because they don't have enough staff on had to get out one drink during your 2 hour class. Also half the class gave up on trying to paint the picture we were supposedly being taught and the other half was completely covered in paint because the method being taught was wade up a paper towel and dab the painting while the canvases were literally touching each other because everyone was shoulder to shoulder. I have been to many paint classes at other vendors and if the class involves paint slinging or dabbing then a "extra messy" clause was always listied on the booking site Pinots palette offered no such clause so paint at your own risk. So will you leave with a painting? Probably. Will you have fun doing it? Depends on your sense of humor and who you're with, just don't expect to be able to have a drink to sip or a place to set it down at.

Originally built in 1879, this is the oldest hardware store in Huntsville! It ceased operations…read moredecades ago, but a non-profit took over to preserve and maintain the building. It's basically now a gift and craft shop selling souvenirs, local food/snacks, and local artisan crafts. The staff is super nice, and when we said it was our first time visiting they told us all about the history of the building. Most of the furnishings inside are original including the floors, shelving, cash register and an elevator shaft! This place was so cool and is definitely a must visit in downtown Huntsville! I liked their t-shirts, and stoneware/pottery. My sister likes the socks they carry. They also have locally written books in a tightly curated display. A small selection of locally made jewelry items, cutting boards, and other artwork. The staff were friendly and helpful, and, as others noted, there is no public restroom. They are not 100% volunteer staffed anymore, at least one person is on the payroll. The safe in the back is cool to see and they do have several displays of antique items on the floor as well as the area near the ceiling.

One thing I will say is the ground was pretty muddy on the day we went - I wish I wore rain boots. That thick red clay mud is tough to wash off so I would keep that in mind! Also I saw several people with dogs - and that's really cool and good to know for future trips! The day we went they had several food trucks out there too. I really hate when large sections of land are just stripped bare like this (I think its called felling and logging). My sweet Mom used to live across the street at Merrill Gardens and we would take joy rides around Clift Farm with Momma always asking, "I wonder what's behind all those trees????" And I would tell her "Mom, it's a farm!" At that time, CF had a much smaller footprint, with a barn-sized/shaped structure and a good-sized fruit and vegetable stand. Enter the new Clift Farm, which is described as a "Southern-style, mixed-use community built on the success of the century-old Clift family farm" on their website. The residential section offers townhouses, condos, single family homes, cottage houses, estate houses, and multifamily homes. A total of 1,735 units. A Publix anchors the "retail village" which is home to numerous restaurants, facilities such as a Shell/Twice Daily, a preschool and daycare, a car wash, an oil change center, a bank, nail bar, pet food store, a couple of medical offices, and more-with nature trails, event spaces and workspaces included! Restaurants/food options include Nothing Bundt Cakes, Papa Murphy's, Rock N Roll Sushi, Slim Chickens, Starbucks, Jonathan's Grille, Culver's Five Guys, Jim 'N Nicks, Maple St. Biscuit Company, Chick-fil-A, Cava, Bad Daddy's Burger Bar, Cava, Taco Mama, Walk On's Sports Bistreaux, with more restaurants on the "coming soon" list (Capriotti's, Playa Bowls, Cinnaholic, and Steam Boys). Clift Farm's history dates back to the late 1800s and has been passed on from generation to generation beginning with John Henry Clift and most recently Jack and Lillian Clift who have called the farm "home" since 1946. It's massive in terms of acres but their website doesn't indicate the number of acres. I would guess 600+ acres. Although reluctant at first to see the land stripped for the sake of progress, I have to say I've enjoyed having this mixed-use development so close to home. It is a convenient meet up space for my family and I've enjoyed the car wash, gas station, Chick-fil-A, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Pulix, and Johnathan's on numerous occasions.
