"My dear Doctor, they're all true." "Even the lies?" "Especially the lies." In its broadsheet edition day, the Berkeley Daily Planet was both a great read and infuriating. I did not agree at all with their Israel, Marine Recruiting Office, and other "progressive" stances, and often found myself flinging down the paper in disgust. Yet, I couldn't wait to pick up the paper again and read some more, especially Becky O'Malley's "holy" opinions and the best letters section outside of the Anderson Valley Advertiser. Broad and sometimes contentious political debate within the Fourth Estate can be free speech at its best. "To hold a pen is to be at war" - Voltaire Unfortunately, thanks to narrow special interest boycott (of which one of the leaders has his say below), the economy, and some payroll service fraud thrown in, the Berkeley Daily Plant closed up their print edition and went on line. So image my delight when I recently picked up a Copy Mat "newsletter" edition of the Daily Planet. "Great Caesar's Ghost!" - Perry White I devoured the issue and was left wanting for more. So whether I agree with the content or not, I hope that the Daily Planet is on the way back, and mindful of the Joseph Pulitzer quote that "Newspapers should have no friends"

Plus the dudes who work here are very interesting and knowledgeable. It's fun to go in there and pick their brains about various academic subjects. They are very laid back. Also another huge plus is they do lectures and film screenings in the store. I haven't been to one, but I've heard good things. Great place. Edit: after looking into their political beliefs, I am now less inclined to support this business further . :/

The irony is that a bookstore like this--framing itself as "revolutionary" and openly promoting ideas about dictatorship, fascism, LGBTQ issues, and modern-day slavery--would not exist under an actual fascist regime. In such systems, only books that praise or reinforce the ruling ideology are permitted. That contradiction made the messaging feel more like extreme leftist propaganda than serious critique, to the point of being almost comical. I still purchased a gift for a friend, but the anti-Trump rhetoric was truly over the top. I'm just a normie trying to buy a book.

I'm a non-fiction bookworm and this place is a heaven. The value for most books is reasonable and lower than a regular book store. I loved how organized it was on each floor and there were posted guides if you wanted to see more what floor to find them. They have a top floor with staff by appointment for special books. Other than that there's no staff interaction except at payment. I also loved they had table and chair seatings in random places be use you will get tired of checking out everything. Yes, I left with 7 books, no regrets and wish I could've taken more. I will def be back! They have straits and elevators but I recommend taking the stairs as they have interesting frames on the way and shop on lower level by stairwell.

Super friendly and welcoming, extremely willing to help upon your visit. You can also sell books here. They are picky with what you bring in, must be in pristine condition, no writing in books, and all hard covered books must have sleeves. They sell for a great trade-in but their cash isn't great. Definitely check them out!

Well, I got creative a review, thanks to this scammy company: Ah, "University Sports Publications," the lighthouse of unsolicited calls. Envision a company with such a dedication to bothering people, it's almost as if they've turned it into their very raison d'être. With the allure of a carnival barker and the relentlessness of a never-ending loop, they reach out under the pretense of representing everyone from esteemed educational institutions to government bodies. A veritable symphony of deception. On a perpetual quest for the "business owner," they spin yarns of opportunities and partnerships with all the inventiveness of a seasoned storyteller. Their commitment to the scam is, in a bizarre way, almost praiseworthy. The collective reviews here form a unified choir of the deceived and disturbed, highlighting University Sports Publications' exceptional skill in uniting individuals--against them. And if lawsuits are tales, then this company's storybook is rich with chapters of legal adventures and questionable business ethics. A quick search online reveals a treasure trove of lawsuits and warnings about their practices. So, should their number ever appear on your caller ID, prepare yourself. You're about to be offered a prime opportunity to test the limits of your patience. University Sports Publications: pioneers in the field of frustration. Before picking up, it might be wise to do a little digging into their colorful history of legal entanglements and business misadventures. Engage at your own peril, or perhaps find peace in the blissful act of hitting "ignore."
