The displays change daily and there are usually various people milling about seeing what the bargains of the day are - giving it the feel of a car-boot sale. The shop itself is more of a traditional grocers shop, with tinned and fresh food, fruit and veg etc but it's tiny inside and it's amazing how much stock they manage to pack in. Prices are excellent value and Nobby's is a bit of a local institution - long may it thrive!

No, but really: is there anything more summery than pulling up somewhere, peeling your bare leg off the too-hot seat of the car, and running into a farm shop to buy local fruit and veg (and maybe some ice-cream for immediate consumption?). SIKE! Rhetorical! THERE IS NOTHING BETTER. Drove orchards is a step above, though: the selection is great, and interesting, and well-priced. So there. When I popped by there were homegrown black currants, dark and juicy, on offer. And local runner beans and beautiful green-and-purple artichokes. Tiny sweet-but-tart plums. Exploring the shop further, there is a cooler selling Norfolk ice-cream (yayerz) as well as a wall of apple juices (they bottle themselves). I snagged some apple and quince juice (!!!) and all involved in the resulting cocktails were big fans of the selection. Some cold cuts, dairy, and plenty of baked good options: it felt too hot for cake (blasphemous!) but the Victoria sponge _almost_ convinced me otherwise. Double bonus: in addition to a farm shop there is also a vintage and home goods-y store, a Danish fashion shop and a kids' clothing store. What wonders! Fresh produce AND baby booties AND a Denmark-imported tunic? Yep. Yelp note: I've lived almost 5 years in England and can't believe it took me this long to discover this corner of the country. They sell a huge array of products, ranging from hot pasties and pies to washing powder , alcohol and well evrything really. Location is good really, plenty of room to get buggy in and around, as well as obviously wheelchairs. On a main road so easy accsesible and have a lay by just out side the store. there is also a pelican crossing for pedestrian access.

It looks quite small from the outside but the range of goods it covers is pretty impressive for its size, fresh fruit and veg, a large beer and wine section (with a decent selection of bottled real ales), a frozen food section, chilled foods etc and a whole host of tinned food, household products and pet food. There's also a decent magazine and newspaper section too. They also do cashback (up to £50) which is very handy as the local cashpoint (the only one in Wells) often seems to be out of money - particularly in peak holiday season. Prices are very good, service from one of the four tills is swift and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I love the food hall because it has so much to offer - it has your typical range of staple foods from great brands but also offers fancier and more specialist foods. There is a dedicated section for health foods; vitamins, specialist diet foods (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.), a wonderful deli counter with a wide selection of fresh foods, a good range of teas, wines, coffees, organic food, baking produce. The list is huge! They're also very competitively priced. Other sections of the store include; homewares (a very large selection of kitchen goods, electrical appliances, lighting & decorative items), household goods (which stocks bulk products such as Ecover!), perfumes, make up & beauty, womenswear, underwear, menswear, a book store and a cafe. I believe they also stock building supplies (as Bakers is a builders merchants) but I have never had to use that so I cannot really comment! It is well laid out with two main front entrances - one dedicated to the groceries and the other in the homeware. I believe there is also a back entrance for the building department with access to a car park but we are usually on foot! Each department has it's own section with it's own counter & staff so most of the time you don't have to queue, and when you do it is not for long (unless it is the height of tourist season, when naturally most shops become a bit overwhelmed!) It is much nicer than visiting department stores in the city, and Holt is such a beautiful town!
