There are bottles of excellent local brews Sambrook Wandle and Junction, German alcohol-free beer (the best on the market, in my opinion) Erdinger Alkohol Frei and, (voice aquiver) two bottles from star Danish brewery Mikkeller. Plus a good selection of beer from Belgium, England, Austria, the Czech Republic and more (much of which I didn't recognise), all at reasonable prices. The shop itself is worth a mention too: wood panels everywhere, with the beer bottles presented neatly on shelves. Throw in the friendly service and slow trumpet jazz sountrack playing softly in the background and it's very difficult to leave the shop without buying something. Which considering the quality of the produce on offer here, is no bad thing.

The shop is fairly wee and the, ahem, 'pyramid' of canned beer in the center of the floor sort of forces one to move in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction around the room. Along one wall stands the growler (tee-hee) station for purchasing and re-fills, which, by the way, is pretty special. The only other place in town where I've had the pleasure of buying refillable jugs of beer is in the massive Whole Foods store in Kensington. For those wanting to imbibe a 'cold one' directly after purchase, there's a full beer fridge at the back of the shop. CC is excellently placed along Lower Clapton Rd. with a handful of buses stopping right out front. Beer lovers and the beer-curious would do well to visit!

It is wall to wall alcohol dispensed by a couple of Greek or Middle Eastern (I can't really tell. Ooops!) guys who are always welcoming. The store has the old magical feel of a Diagon Alley wizardry shop. They have an awesome selection of spirits at very reasonable prices. There are also wonderful credit crunch beating deals such as two bottles of wine for £5. My favourite finds are Aperol, awesome Mount Gay rum for £12 and scrumptious Desperado beer. Light struck is the term used when the hop compounds that cause yummy bitterness react with UV light to produce methyl butane thiol (MBT). MBT is a similar chemical that Skunks use to make their fantastically stinky skunk smell. Beer in cans block out all UV ray, brown bottles most, green less and clear none. When you approach Drinkers Paradise, it's quite apparent that there are many bottles visible in the window. I'm guessing the owners aren't the biggest beer drinkers. Not to mention the big Fosters logo on the outside to make anyone who enjoys good beer cringe. Please for the love of God stay away from Drinkers Paradise.

They had a beer that we've been hunting for so long. They were super friendly and didn't mind that we bought all four of that specific beer. They also use some really nice bags that apparently hold over 3 wine bottles (or so the cashier told us).
