The store is also cramped and frequently it is a mess with palettes and plastic wrap left willy-nilly. There are some more unique beers in one corner just outside the cooler, but I swear every time I've been in the store, that section is cluttered up with half-sorted stock. The store feels like it's some lousy old joint in a small Alberta town instead of a newer one in a city, belonging to a major chain which prides itself on it's selection of craft beer. Clean up your act!

This spacious Sobey's in this part of Edmonton that we visited is like the closest thing to a typical urban Ontario LCBO store. I found a greater variety of products, including Western Canadian craft beers, and wines. They even have a walk-in cold room. It's worth a stop if you're seeking something specific that's not a big name.

Sherwood Park was our first location to get a liquor store in the greater Edmonton area but now we also have them in St. Albert and Edmonton. The selection isn't huge but it is varied from $8 bottles of wine up to a couple hundred dollars. I love giving the GIANT and I mean giant bottles of Kirkland Signature alcohol as Christmas presents - who doesn't want a gallon of spiced rum or vodka? I know, I sure do and this present won't go to waste! They carry a great seasonal selection and don't miss out on the ever popular Christmas import beer advent calendar for that beer drinker in your life! I'll be seeing you soon... P.S. Wine was not on my list, but I found a special on Jackson Triggs chardonnay. I bought one bottle. 2 days later, I decided to go back a pick up the whole case. I was told the sale had ended. I started to whinge a bit and pleaded that I made a special trip to pick up this wine. The manager honored the sale price and I walked away a happy customer. Always a decent selection. I'll remain a faithful customer.

You probably won't even find staff that are experts. Sure, they're friendly young'uns who can show you where a particular product is shelved and maybe a bit about it, but that's about it. But what you will find is a good selection of liquor at very, very good prices. Since you can't buy liquor with your groceries in Canada, I always end up making separate trips, but since this is in the same parking lot as Superstore, it's essentially one trip. If I need to pick up some rum, vodka, basic beer or coolers, I almost always visit here.

Liquor International carries both Georgian wine produced for domestic consumption (in this case, the wine is the real deal) and wine produced specifically for purposes of export (this wine is cheaper and of lower quality). Make sure to ask the sales associate which is which, but basically the price tag tells the story. A bottle of real Georgian wine will cost about $50. Cheaper alternative created for export - around $25. If you are eager to try Georgian wine and there is none in stock, the sales person will write your name down, and call you when new stock arrives. P.S. For no apparent reason, Liquor Interntional accepts Canadian Tire money.

Solo Liquor isn't a very big liquor store, like Coop or Safeway, so the selection is smaller, but it isn't as small as some of the other liquor stores in town (and there are quite few liquor stores in Leduc). Prices seems okay compared to other places I've been to, but of course that depends on what type of liquor you are buying. My bottle of Spanish Red Wine (because I was making tinto verano) was $12. It wasn't the best wine I've had, but not the worst either. I usually shop at Safeway because of Airmiles or Coop because of the selection, but for convenience Solo Liquor is nice. Prices are good even if the selection is small. If I have another bad day at work I'll be back here again, purchasing a bigger bottle of wine.
