I'm never returning to this location if this is how disabled members of the community are treated by security. I made eye contact and gave a security a small nod when I walked in. I didn't grab a basket or bring a reusable bag with me, as I was coming in for exactly 3 items. I'm an immunocompromised person, I use a respirator indoors; security followed me around for wearing a KN95 mask and not carrying a basket or having a reusable bag with me. Worst experience ever, I come here all the time and I get Profiled the moment I walk in the door, but today. The security had the Audacity to Ask me " are you going to pay for that " I had come to buy some ground beef for making dinner that night, the beef selection was looking off so I opted for some ground chicken the ones you buy in the $10 bag. When I turn around to walk down the frozen food section I see the security guard who was following me literally scramble to get out of my line of sight. Then when I'm still in the frozen food section of the store he approached me from the opposite I had seen him on to ask me if I was paying for my chicken THEN ASKED " do you need help finding a register?" I WORK across the parking lot at Southport Tower and I literally come here 3-4 times a week to buy my groceries for work/home. Then when I asked to speak to the store manager Amr, who also refused to give me his name so I had to physically Look for his badge he was trying to hide. said to me "if you don't like it then why don't you leave?" I then asked him for contact information to get this situation dealt with because that's NOT how you treat customers, he then told me to find that information myself and he was not obligated to give me any information. I have EMAILED ABOUT THIS and no one has responded back so now I am going to post this on EVERY social media outlet and review website I can to tell everyone in Calgary just how utterly disgusting this place is. Ouch. Tough crowd reviewing RCS. After four visits this week while vacationing and staying nearby I can't get in line with the low rating which seems to be what I call drive-by Yelpers, people that just use it when they want to complain online about someone. No photos, no contact information, few or no friends and a bare minimum of reviews. And to be honest, Yelp is not as big a factor in Canada. Because I was new to the store I had quite a challenge finding some products. This was largely due to different packing used in Canada. For instance, their molasses comes in a milk like carton. I was hunting something in glass which is a US thing. Their ground beef was packaged in tubes. I typically see it in wrapped clear plastic. Pointing this out because more than a few times I asked someone for help and they went clear out of their way to assist me on multiple visits. Score a big plus for customer service. The selection here is pretty vast. I'd say if you're not finding it here then you're looking for something that's a bit beyond the typical grocer. Also of note, I like the fact that besides a grocery, there's a pretty large department store one one open end where you can buy things like bath towels, clothing, etc., etc. Came in handy as I needed to pick up some items for our family that had just moved into a new home here. All in all, I'm good with RCS and would not hesitate to shop here if I lived here. Rest of our family uses it and approves. Is it all slicked up with a feel good vibe and the most modern design? I order Pc Express every month spending hundreds of dollars each time, I always put a note in my order for the freshest possible items because their organic produce is almost always bad. My recent order not only had bad produce but my dairy items were about to expire as well, $60 worth of food, while this is very disappointing it was not as disappointing as them saying they were putting a note on my account saying not to give me items that are bad?? Like you shouldn't be giving people items that are bad to begin with this Southport location is a joke and will give you rotten food with not a care and I will not be spending anymore money there! read more

A lot like the Wal-Mart of 10 or 15 years ago before they decided to go after higher end shoppers, this is a basic and stripped down version with none of the polished edges and fanciness. As the saying goes "... and we pass the savings on to you." You need a $1 coin to release a shopping trolley from the corral in the parking lot. Plastic bags are 5 cents each. Very few staffers around. Yes, they have a large selection of the brand name merchandise but they also have quite a few items that are (literally) 'No Name". From soda to napkins to charcoal briquettes, these generic own-brand items are probably just as good as the regular stuff. In fact, it's probably made by the same manufacturers to the same specifications, but labeled this way. Large produce section and a bulk-food area that includes nuts and cooking chocolate and other candies. Meat and seafood. Canned goods. Ethnic foods. And then a dry goods area that includes personal care, electronics, housewares and even a small section of clothing. Pharmacy. If I was living in Calgary, I imagine that I would be doing most of my shopping here. And I would remember to bring a coin for the trolley. read more

Placed an PC Express online grocery pickup order. One item was missing, one item (onions) were rotten and had to be thrown out and one item (sausages) were expired and had to be thrown out. Sent an email immediately on December 15 with no response. Will never shop at a Superstore again. read more

Filthy. This is my number one complaint about these massive stores. Too much stuff. Too few staff. Everything is always dirty. Second complaint ... almost none of the staff on the floor speak English well enough to answer basic questions. Most of them try. The effort is there. Sadly, the comprehension is not. I cannot image working in such large store with thousands of products while not speaking the language of my customers. I would fail. So it doesn't surprise me that Superstore employees fail, too. read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER GOING TO THIS STORE Terrible experience, broken coolers with water leaking all over the floor ( + minimal signage to indicate water on the floor or potential tripping hazard) causing my 74 year old grandmother to fall.... little to no help was offered by Manager who seen the fall did not apologize, offer to call ambulance, ask if she was okay, and 0 attempt to file a report..... The major question I have is; why are the coolers even broken in a multi million dollar corporation store? No body cares to fix the issues, that's why! Finally, we had to wait at customer service while manager was "busy" only to be told that someone will be in contact with us within 48 hours (lol sure) .... unless you want to feel second best in a store that relies on customers, never go to this location! read more

Superstore is a massive grocery/department store with a large selection and good prices. Service is negligible, although the cashiers are usually very friendly. There are lots of items including various ethnic foods and spices, although it can be extremely difficult to find things because items can be in one of several aisles or in the wrong aisle altogether. Sometimes I go here rather than the Heritage or Westhills location. They all have their negatives. I mean, its not ever a super awesome experience. Today took the cake. Like seriously. I dont recall being so mad at someone's lack of customer service just cause. It really is the JOE department that takes the brunt of this review. The manager (so called) would not return a bunch of items I bought for my daughter the evening before. Like 10pm purchased... and 430pm the next day return. She said no... If it was really a policy thing, we all known the receipt would say so, there probably would be a sign. Im not a new shopper at JOE. Id say primarily is the brand for my kids. So when said crankpot that kept reinforcing that she was a manager (clear sign that she was not) I told her she was ridiculous and when she wasnt watching me (i know. sneaky). I went to customer service and nonissue-she returned it right away. What a crazy lady. I find sometimes Superstore is like this. and sadly. I think the Southport location is the worst! read more

I have an autoimmune disease so I go to the superstore early in the morning do I am not in with all the people. Today I went cause I had to get some things, the store manager said only seniors from 7 to 8 are allowed then she walked away the security guard talked with me and another lady cause we felt the manager was very rude when she talked to us. The security guard said if you had a compromised immune system that you could shop and he did not know why the manager did not ask us. So he let me in next thing I know the manager same one that was at the door tracked me down to yell at me in the middle of the store I told her I have an autoimmune disease she said to me you did not tell me so I said to her you did not ask me she said nothing at first then she turns around and said Rene security guard should not have let me in I said to her that he needs to be talked to not me i am a customer spending money in the store. I have never been so upset I can't help that I have an autoimmune disease I realize I am only 51 years of age but I did not deserve to be treated like I was today. read more

I'll admit it, I love Superstore. I know quite a few people who are overwhelmed by its size, but I've been shopping here since it opened back in the 90's, so I know it like I know the back of my hand. The large size is the reason I patron this store. You can find pretty much everything, so it's a one stop shop. I love the fact they have a large bulk section, a ton of ethnic food and 2 isles for organic products. They do run out of items from time to time, but they always seem to have it back in within a few days. It can be hard to find staff, but the people at the front entrance also know the store in and out and can always help you find what you are looking for. In addition to shopping for groceries, I LOVE joe fresh clothing. Cheap AND stylish, what's not to love? I've had tons of compliments on pieces I've bought. To top it off they have very friendly and knowledgable staff at the pharmacy. I'm am forever a loyal LOBLAWS customer. read more

On Oct 27th, my mother had her purse stolen from her cart at Southport Superstore, in the light of day, while she was shopping. The Manager, The Click and Order manager and the employees at this store were AMAZING. I wanted to thank them all for taking care of my mom and displaying great empathy and kindness to my mother. Bad Management This is my closest location to work and home, i hate the way they don't always restock the shelves or put the things forward which are low in stock. i was at this location on 17th Jan 2016, around 9.45pm i was trying to grab apple juice carton which was far behind on top shelve and while i was pulling that juice carton out my dumb finger hit to metal strap on the top and started bleeding i found a tissue and tried to stop bleeding. by the time i reached out to customer service after i paid for the stuff i picked my tissue was fairly filled with blood marks, i let "MEL" the supervisor know about it, she immediately called her Manager on duty who i believe is "Mr. PETER". So, i clearly told him what happened and asked him to take proper measures to fill the stock so that it doesn't happen to somebody else. His reply to me was an apology "sorry about that" i will look and walks away not even offering me a Band-Aid. As i was about to walk away with disappointment the Supervisor "Ms. MEL" probably felt bad or noticed how i took it, she apologized and asked me if i was okay and needed Band-Aid which eventually made me feel better as i could leave with Band-Aid on. Thank you to Ms. MEL and Mr. Peter maybe its time for you to step up and learn how to be responsible manger and have some care or common sense. Maybe RealCanadian store to consider right person to fit that position rather than just looking at experience or wt ever they look for, in a manger. I have decided to boycott my favorite grocery store. I have shopped at Superstore for many, many years. But now because I am forced to have to buy my groceries in groups of 3-4 I will no longer support your chain. As a single women on a budget, and also I can imagine elderly people who don't have the extra cash,I find those conditions are not helping people in our society. It is aggressive, not necessary and disrespectful. Especially now in Alberta where we are finding less jobs, wage cuts and homeless people on the rise. Our grocery prices have increased considerably and your store is saying "no sorry" can't get the sale price unless you buy groups of 4....RUDE. I also have a PC card that I constantly have to go online and load my offers or I don't get the points. I have signed up for reminders but now I have to agree to surveys...you have gone too far. Walmart treats their customers better. read more
