After contacting both Bart Fireside and the manufacturer, Stoll Industries, Stoll acknowledged the mistake and sent the correct part at no cost. Bart Fireside refused to issue a refund for the incorrect item, stating that I had received the part I needed, which contradicts Stoll's confirmation. I am disappointed with Bart Fireside's handling of this situation and their lack of accountability.

We went this fall to get a new fire screen and fire tool set. They have a great selection. My husband installed it and after he finished, we noticed it was the wrong color. The company came back over and took it out and boxed it up. They did a reorder for us. After many weeks they brought over the new one and it looks great! However, it's now too hot for a fire. We did throw a couple of logs in the fireplace and lit them to see how it looked. Looks great! When I questioned the salesman, I found that he took no sq footage off for cut outs, such as the stove and the stove top. I questioned him because I had previously had another estimate which listed my square footage as much less than he said it was when asked. The salesman was asked to give me a detailed estimate of his work proposal, but he didn't do it as he promised to do and didn't respond to my text message requesting the detailed estimate. I am very concerned about anyone who handles business this way and you should be also.

I happened to see Carolina Custom Granite in Google and they mentioned they could fix undermount sinks that need remounting. I called on Monday morning and Dennis Felix called back in a few hours and was at my house Tuesday morning. He had it remounted in less than 2 hours and also fixed the drain pipe and stayed a while longer to check for leaks. He was professional and skilled and the price was reasonable. My wife and I contracted Despres Painting to repaint a few rooms and baseboards in a house we are…read moreputting on the market. Needless to say, any imperfections will draw a buyer's eye in an empty home so we relied heavily on the overwhelmingly positive reviews to choose Despres. The initial consultation went well enough. We told him exactly what we wanted but I specifically asked for one area to have sheet rock scabbed in where a wall meets a ceiling. There was a small bit of water damage done to that area so the only way to do it right is to replace the old sheet rock by scabbing in a new piece and mudding it to match. I asked at least 2 times if this could be done and was told repeatedly it would be. Moreover, my wife verified that this would be done with both the painters and the office before work started. Everyone agreed. On the day they arrived, everything went South very quickly but I'll get to that in a moment because I want to stick strictly to the quality of work done first. When they called us over for the inspection, I noticed that the area I spoke of before was not even touched. Another small hole we asked to have patched was just loosely caked with drywall mud and painted over wet, leaving a sticky mess. During the initial consultation, we told them we would be putting new carpet in the house and said we'd do it after they painted. We were told "No! Put the carpet in first! We're very detail oriented and will never get paint on new carpet!" What did I find during my initial "final inspection?" Yep. Paint on carpet. So they said they would immediately rework these items and we told them to call us back over when it was done. When we went back for the "final" final inspection. I noticed that the space where I told them repeatedly would need sheetrock scabbed in for an actual repair was just heavily mudded over and, yep, wet paint slathered over wet sheetrock. I could have done that myself and saved myself a few thousand dollars, guys. Thanks a lot. I've enclosed pictures below so you can see just how "professional" of a job these guys do. Now to the real thorn in my side about our experience with Despres Painting:Utter and complete lack of professionalism front to back. #1: During the day of painting my wife and I were called "F***ING STUPID" by one of their painters that didn't know that I was in ear shot. I guess this painter disagreed with some decisions we made on how we wanted things done. I bit my tongue at the time (I still question that decision) and told the lead guy and sales guy about it later and they both apologized but what's an apology? I've worked blue collar jobs for nearly 20 years and I get job site talk. But rule #1 is to keep that away from the customer. Luckily he didn't say it so my wife could hear it or I wouldn't have kept my cool. But to be called, "F***ING STUPID" by someone you're paying a few thousand dollars to isn't something anyone wants. #2: The smell of cigarette smoke everywhere. They were smoking cigarettes right outside the open door, meaning not inside but the smell certainly went inside. I'm trying to sell this place and the last thing I need is brand new carpet having cigarette smoke permeated into it. #3: That evening, the owner called me to "apologize" for the language used by one of his guys. I tried to explain that I'm not offended by the language. I'm former Navy. Bad language doesn't offend me. My wife and I being called "STUPID" by someone I hired offends me. He takes this opportunity to tell me that he doesn't put up with bad language (again, not the point) and that he will "gently punch him in the face." I asked him to clarify what he said on that. He told me he was an evangelical preacher and a former football chaplain and that he "WILL NOT PUT UP WITH BAD LANGUAGE" and that he will "reprimand (his) guy by gently punching him in the face" I don't even know what to say to that. I quickly just thanked him for that extremely odd "apology" and told him we'd pay the invoice and part ways. Look, I own a business and I know what employees can be like. However, when you have people work in people's homes SOME amount of discretion and professionalism is warranted. We got zero and shoddy work to boot. I am at a loss as to how this company is so highly rated but I have my suspicions. There is no way I won't speak up about our awful experience any time I hear of anyone thinking of using them.
