January 13, 2024 - Oolong Dragon Milk Tea

January 13, 2024 - Service was fast and staff was nice. The drink was good, but too sweet, I forgot to change the sugar level.

What I got: Mango Diamond Slush- Large ($7.49) Pros: - This newly opened place had a promotion where they were giving out the mango diamond slush for free to the first 88 customers and buy one get one free for the next 188. Within the first minute, the lines had already reached capacity and I was probably #33 out of 188 for the second promotion. For those that did get the free drink, it was a good way to try the product and the line moved pretty fast. - The large sized drink was quite big, like the size of a pint with actual chunks of mango in it. It didn't taste too icy which was good. Since I got 2 for myself, I had to get a bag to carry everything since I couldn't wrap my hand around one container. - The store itself was also very conveniently located right outside the Dundas subway exit and has ample seating. Cons: - I think because of the promotion, they were batch making the mango slush so it was way too sweet and unlike other bubble tea places where you can adjust the sugar or ice contents, you couldn't do it today. One large drink was about 430 calories so having 2 was basically my dinner before I started my night shift. - Perhaps it was because they just opened, they do not have as many payment options as other places. Currently they do not take Amex or Alipay, only visa/MC or cash.

Remember the OG Real Fruit Bubble Tea shop from the good ol' Pacific Mall days? Growing up, I remember frequenting the small, bustling establishment situated in prime territory on the second floor of Pmall. Well, business seems to have boomed since the early 2000s as Real Fruit has now expanded to over 40 locations in the GTA. Their addition at Eaton Centre in the heart of downtown Toronto is one of the newest. It's been open for around 6 months now, and I noticed it was busy every time I walked by. Yesterday, I finally decided to brave the lineup. The queue to order did move quickly, but it took a few minutes longer than I expected to receive my drink. I noticed that the design of the store didn't seem to anticipate how busy it would be, as there is no clear demarcation of where to stand in line to order vs. where to wait for pickup -- resulting in the staff having to yell and wave over customers. Orders were not ready in chronological order, so people who thought their orders would be called soon based on # stood near the pickup spot and clogged the path for foot traffic. The amount of required seating was also apparently underestimated, as there are only a handful of seats available. Though the benches are aesthetically designed, many seats were occupied by mall customers who were not Real Fruit patrons. In terms of drink quality, I'm pleased that my durian smoothie tasted exactly as I expected. This is truly the best durian smoothie, in my view, that money can buy in the GTA (beating solid competitors from Vietnamese restaurants). The smell is especially pungent, reflecting the strong flavour of real durian mixed with just the right amount of milk. I ended up paying $8.46 (tax included) for my large smoothie, which is a very fair price. I like that I wasn't charged a premium for durian -- all smoothies are priced by size only. The price point is higher than I recall at the Pmall location, but totally understandable given they have a higher overhead at this location in terms of rent and staff (approx 3x as many staff at this location). All in all, I am super happy that my favourite durian smoothie from uptown is now available downtown. I'll be coming here a lot when the weather warms up!

I'm going to give these guys a 4 star because my husband and I always come here for bubble tea when we're at the Eaton centre! The line is always long, which sucks, but I think we've had consistently good boba here :)

When a place has "real fruit" in the name, perhaps it shouldn't just be certain drinks that use real produce? I guess I got used to my usual spots using real taro in my taro milk tea because that's what I expected. It definitely tasted like it was made with powder. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't great. And a small without tapioca cost $5.07. There's better places out there with better quality drinks you could spend your money on.

Real fruit bubble tea in concept is great - REAL fruit in the drink sounds like quality an flavour. Unfortunately, I find that there is only ever a tiny bit of fruit at the bottom, and the rest is dilute blended flavoured ice. The pearls here aren't my favourite either.

I was venturing around Union Station for lunch and came across Harvest Clean eats!…read more First impression was that they had a lot of options on their menu that also accommodated various dietary restrictions - lots of vegan and vegetarian options were available. I was craving a warm bowl and their new Spicy Miso Salmon Bowl caught my eye. The price of the bowl was on the higher end (~$22 before tax/tip) but not surprised as we're in the downtown core. I will say .. the portions were very generous and all the ingredients were very fresh! I was pleasantly surprised and am satisfyingly full. They had a lot of different vegetable options mixed in and the rice was nice and warm, reflecting the freshness once again. There were a lot of other items on the menu that I was interested in so I would be keen to return, especially for their smoothies. The ladies at the cash were very quick and helpful when I had some questions about my order. I got my bowl pretty quickly (~11:30 am) but can imagine this place gets busy. Luckily they do let you order in advance so may take advantage of that next time.

Food 4/5 Service 5/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 Harvest Clean Eats is located within the Union Station food court. This is one of the few healthy options at union station. I got the steak salad with some customization (no corn). Just a note for those who have allergies, the steak already has a sauce on it. I was okay with the sauce so I didn't ask for any modification there. I came before the lunch rush but this place was already relatively busy so I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for my food. Given everything downtown is pricey, I'd say Harvest Clean Eats is in line with downtown prices. It costs me under $20 for the salad. I think the quality of the food was good and I was satisfied but not bursting. Portions for the salad were reasonable for the price as well. The person taking the orders at cash was friendly & knew what they were doing. Everything went smoothly. Ambiance is food court ambiance. LOL. Harvest Clean Eats has a few small tables in their area but isn't big enough for a large crowd. So I preferred to order & bring my food back to the office. I would definitely order here again when I want something healthy.
