Good people. Retirees, veterans, elders. Many do not use social media and may not know how to speak up when they are treated unfairly. They deserve better. Your community deserves better. Here is what I have experienced and what I have witnessed among my neighbors. They habitually delay responses on time-sensitive approvals. For over three years, they have used 'short staffing' as a shield for what is essentially passive-aggressive behavior. They know residents are dependent on them, and they leverage that power by simply ignoring us. There are inconsistencies in how fees are applied. Neighbors have shared with me that they have been charged different deposit amounts for the same project. It also takes them months to return deposits long after the project is complete. There appears to be no clear or consistent standard. When you ask questions, you do NOT get answers. This is all very dangerous considering the power that HOAs hold. Here is why these companies behave so poorly and act invincible in the process. Arbitration clauses built into contracts with companies like this make it very difficult for residents to fight back. Unless you know how to catch them in the act and document everything, the system is stacked against you. They are counting on you giving up and just paying. Do your due diligence. There ARE other companies out there. Better companies. Companies that will actually communicate with you and treat you fairly. If you are a resident, keep records of everything. Take photos. Save emails. Check your mail daily. Compare notes with your neighbors. If you see inconsistencies, document them. If you are on an HOA board, please think carefully about who you hire to manage your community. The people living here trust you to make good choices on their behalf. They are counting on you. Do not let them down by partnering with companies that hide behind fine print and treat residents unfairly. Your community deserves better. I had an unbelievably terrible and frankly, illegal experience with this individual, who also happens to be a realtor. Within a week and a half of signing a rental agreement for $300, while I was out of town, this landlady went through all of my personal belongings and threw them outside. When confronted, she admitted to making incredibly irresponsible financial decisions, including losing $100,000 in cryptocurrency and sending hundreds of dollars to online scams falsely promising a Tesla. As a caregiver, I also have serious concerns about her mental state and believe she may be suffering from dementia. Her actions in illegally entering my space and disposing of my property, coupled with her apparent inability to manage her own affairs, make her an extreme risk as a landlord and likely in any professional capacity. Please, for your own safety and the security of your belongings, avoid renting from or signing any agreements with this person. Not only that she proceeded to rent me a room before explaining that she herself was 10 months behind on her own mortgage company payment
