Anyway, because of the recommendation I decided to go and check it out, and yeah, I have to admit that I was quite impressed. Mind you, due to the number of people here, it was ages before my tea arrived, which was a little disappointing, but it did turn out to be a quite nice pot of tea, so I guess all is forgiven. The venue itself is gorgeous - the kind of place you would find tucked away in Fitzroy North. The pizzas LOOKED gorgeous, beautifully presented and came out to our table quick as a flash, however the flavour just wasn't there. The one sheet pizza menu was tucked away in the back of the folder but this vibrant anomaly of the main street should be front and centre as it is easily the best eat on the street. It's pizza done well. Pizza done simply. There's a selection of 10-11 pizzas and all range from $14 - $17. You can order a gluten free base for $4 extra. You watch the pizza made in front of you and the owner, on appearances alone, could easily be a retired 'Surfer Dude' bringing a new level of cool to Port Fairy. We ordered the garlic pizza (delicious without being too garlicky) and the 'Proscuitto' - proscuitto, buffalo mozzerella and fresh basil. It was everything I was craving before I knew it. Should I be passing through Port Fairy again I'll be hoping Coffin Sally (I still don't know the origin of the name) has made it in this country town and led the way for a few more "bang on trend" venues to have also opened their doors.

Sure, a lot of pubs are now brewing their own 'house brew' but this place has a whole range of craft beers that they brew, namely the Lady Bay, which included the Whale Ale that you might occassionally see on tap around Melbourne. As a pub it is okay, nothing really all that fantastic, and it seems to be one of those places that are trying to target families as opposed to a specific crowd (such as the old folk who sit around the bar telling the bartenders all their problems, or the young and hip crowd that want to look cool by dressing like their friends). However, I didn't mind the place, and there were some decent outdoor areas as well. Mind you, they also have a sports bar and pokies, but they are hidden out of sight so that didn't bother me all that much.
