This business has the right stuff because its business strategy is to advertise services and to actually provide them, unlike so many businesses I've recently dealt with. * I contacted this business, Friends of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, via their website. Their website is a very user-friendly website and has a lot of useful information. They have their address and telephone number on their website. They responded to me the next business day via telephone. They scheduled a donation pickup, gave me the specifics as to how they want the donations boxed up, they showed up on the scheduled day, and they took all the donations. Friends of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to eradicating MS and providing resources on living with MS during its research into ending MS. Long separations from family, friends and pets, frequent moves through-out the world, training, late nights in military Service to America, exposure to toxins, and the toll of high, sustained mental and physical demands on an Active-Duty Service member can and does all quickly add up over time. For Veterans, multiple sclerosis "MS" is a presumptive condition, which means that it is presumed that the disability is caused by military Service if diagnosed within a certain time frame. What is the prevalence of multiple sclerosis among Veterans? It has increased in recent years. A 2019 report revealed that the rate of MS among Veterans using the VA Health Care System (VHA) increased from 141 per 100,000 Veterans in 1999 to 262 per 100,000 Veterans which is 0.26% in 2014. Only about 40% of Veterans receive their health care within the VA Health Care System (VHA) so the number of Veterans overall with MS is probably far higher. Either way, 0.036% of the overall population has MS and Veterans with MS are way above that. https://www.everydayhealth.com/columns/ms-fitness-challenge/burden-ms-our-military/ Service-connection is given Veterans for disabilities that were not diagnosed on Active Duty, but "presumed" to have begun in (or exacerbated by) Service. The one-year presumptive conditions include hypertension, arthritis and diabetes, among several others, all listed in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 38, 3.309. The volunteers and staff are very friendly and caring and take the time to answer questions and never judge. This initiative keeps women and children safe and it's exactly what Reno needs.

From what I could tell and by all appearances this helpful center to Women and Children seemed to…read morebe an incredible place. We dropped off about 30 hand made blankets to them so they could disseminate them out to those who need them the most in our community. As we were inside the building I saw 2-3 women come in and get pampers and an additional infant type related supplies at no charge. I was very happy to see there was a place such as this & in this area of town to help what is inevitably the children of our community. I would recommend volunteering here and/or donating whatever you can from your time, talents and goods. As citizens of this wonderful place we call Reno I can't think of a better way than to give back to an organization that is doing their best to support our local women and children!

One of my several Veteran friends who lives in Reno came upon some hard times, including losing his job due to his military Service connected disabilities and he was worried about being evicted from his apartment. I told him about this place, we arranged an appointment for him on Wednesday, 1 November 2023 at 0900, and for him to drive us to and from then. The person who answered the phone at this Nation's Finest location wouldn't tell us their name, nor the name of the person they made the appointment with. We showed up for the appointment only to be told we had no appointment and they couldn't help us. They made another appointment for us Wednesday, 15 November 2023 at 1000, but wouldn't tell us the name of the person they made the appointment with. We asked to use the bathroom and the person pointed to a sign "No Public Bathrooms". We said we were NOT public, that we were there for an appointment. We were still denied the use of the bathroom. Having ready access to clean, safe public restrooms is vital part of personal and public health. Adequate public restrooms are fundamental to human dignity, and are especially critical for people like my husband, a Veteran (and other Veterans, especially the elderly ones like me) with military Service-connected Agent Orange-related prostate damage requiring him to have frequent access to a bathroom. The place was dirty. We went downstairs to the advertised Pantry and Resource Center, which also has signs "No Public Bathrooms" posted. A woman barked at us demanding to see our Veterans ids. There were six spaghetti squash and NO other food. We were told we could only take one squash. We asked about cooking utensils and winter clothes, gloves, hats, and boots and were told none are available. The place was dirty. We showed up for the next appointment only to be told the person we had an appointment with was not available and that AGAIN they couldn't help us. There were still signs stating "No Public Bathrooms". The place was still dirty. We went downstairs to the advertised Pantry and Resource Center, which also has signs "No Public Bathrooms" posted. Did you know the youth homeless population is the fastest growing in the nation?…read more As a masters candidate at UNR, Lynette Eddy did, and she saw a need to get ahead of it in our community, starting the Eddy House to help, and today this is one of the most successful in the nation! I had the opportunity to work for the first version of this NPO near the beginning, when they owned a home in NW Reno that provided a safe place for 5-8 young men to live and owned a restaurant in downtown Reno as a work experience for them. I knew the organization was vital then, but it just wasn't the right format for them to deliver their maximum impact. Over the years they learned a lot, and under the leadership of some extremely astute folks, they've grown into the vital community organization I always knew them to be. Starting with the YOU, they helped homeless youth find purpose and footing, access to necessary resources and opportunities to learn academically and about themselves with the support of some great local partners. In the last year they realized their dream of opening a 24 hour drop in center for youth, something so incredibly needed by our community, and they continue to advance their mission from there. Now they need our support more than ever. If you can, consider sharing something with them so they can continue to serve the community.

Duplicate review to be posted at Care Chest & Bartley Ranch. Quality/Quantity - I have been to most of the breweries that attended. But it was GREAT to discover so many food businesses. I will be sure to visit them after this event. Also, I discovered so many local spirits and bourbons. Look forward to creating a "local" bar at the house. Atmosphere - Fun event that supports a good cause. So many food, bacon, bourbon, and beer booths. I ate and drank too much!! It was also good to see the regular Yelp attendees. I encourage you to support these folks, as personally, they helped us make one of our bathrooms wheelchair friendly. Since I am not getting any younger, I knew that it would be more difficult to assist my son with is personal hygiene needs. Since I myself have some back issues, lifting him into a tub would soon be crossed off of my list. Now I have a roll in shower with grab bars. My son has a shower chair. And I owe it to CareChest through grants and donations from supporters. Great event with foods from Chihuahuas, Fig Tree Catering. Distilled brews from Frey Ranch, The Depot, and many more! Jeff Martinez from Channel 2 News did a great job at MCing, and the music was terrific!
