Steve came to my home and gave us a bid, we signed the same day and i gave him a $700 deposit in cash. Steve stated that it would be 4-6 weeks for delivery of parts and an addition 3 weeks for them to come out once they received the parts. here we are June 16th and still nothing, as a matter-of-fact Steve was terrible at giving my text messages a response let alone returning phone messages. Sin early may Steve has ghosted us , no texts no phone calls. I have reached out to the NV Contractors board and have filed an abandonment case against your company. i asked Steve over a month ago for a refund due to the lack of response and not doing the job as promised. This is terrible business and i will be warning friends and neighbors about your company. Mr., William i would appreciate it if you could reach out and explain your salesman's business ethics. you can find my number in your system, or you can reach out to my email. Did you know the youth homeless population is the fastest growing in the nation?…read more As a masters candidate at UNR, Lynette Eddy did, and she saw a need to get ahead of it in our community, starting the Eddy House to help, and today this is one of the most successful in the nation! I had the opportunity to work for the first version of this NPO near the beginning, when they owned a home in NW Reno that provided a safe place for 5-8 young men to live and owned a restaurant in downtown Reno as a work experience for them. I knew the organization was vital then, but it just wasn't the right format for them to deliver their maximum impact. Over the years they learned a lot, and under the leadership of some extremely astute folks, they've grown into the vital community organization I always knew them to be. Starting with the YOU, they helped homeless youth find purpose and footing, access to necessary resources and opportunities to learn academically and about themselves with the support of some great local partners. In the last year they realized their dream of opening a 24 hour drop in center for youth, something so incredibly needed by our community, and they continue to advance their mission from there. Now they need our support more than ever. If you can, consider sharing something with them so they can continue to serve the community.

My son's father and I decided to sign up for phase 2 which was super easy on the internet (HealthyNV.org) I signed up, got my appointment and went down to the HealthyNV building located on Kuenzli. First you watch an introductory video that explains what to expect. Station 2 is where you sign into your accounts, or create one if you don't have it. They collect a saliva specimen which is done discreetly. Seal it up, drop it off in the box and you're done. I have done a similiar test like this on Ancestry so I already know my native make up. I am interested in what health risks I have, how that can be exaccerbated or not, living in Northern NV and what preventative measures I can take. This is the most comprehensive population health study I have ever seen and I am happy to be participating in it.

Willing participants provide a saliva sample so that genetics from the Northern Nevada are can be included in the research from doctors as well as environmental studies. The goal is to achieve a healthier community through knowledge. The 30 minute appointment was a piece of cake! It started promptly with a quick informational video explaining the project and the process to submit your saliva sample. Station 2 is at a laptop computer so that you can electronically sign consent forms and register the barcode on your sample tube with Helix. Next station, a private seat so that you can provide a sample of your saliva. Noninvasive and fun! The office space is colorful, bright, and modern. As a thank you for voluntarily providing genetic makeup for the research, you receive a complementary ancestry report from Helix called National Geographic Geno 2.0. Is highly recommend anyone interested in helping local medical research progress or anyone who just wants a free ancestry report to signup for a time slot to participate in HealthyNV!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada - My little and I

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada

Where to start? Ok first I LOVE being a big!!…read more I became a big almost 4 months ago after hearing of it since I was 10. I wanted to volunteer in a way that had a really big impact on a child and BBBSNN was the best way to do that. The interview process was intense and there were a few times that I wondered "would I even be a good big??" but BBBSNN did an awesome job of encouraging me and teaching me how to be a big sister in their program. The 1.5 hour interview really dug into who I was and I'm glad they did such a good interview because when they matched me and my Little Sister I could tell right away that we were very similar. I meet on average 2 hours minimum a week with my little and we do so many fun things. We go to Roller Kingdom, the discovery museum, make crafts, and volunteer at other organizations together. We have a lot of fun and decide what to do together! The organization continues to support our match by providing me training on things like how to encourage education and how to build confidence in my little. They throw parties and fun group events where we get to interact with other matches and I really enjoy that because I get to talk to others about being a big and my little gets to make new friends. I would recommend this organization to anyone considering becoming a big!

There's no better feeling than knowing you're needed and that you mean something to someone in need. The process of becoming a Big can be daunting with interviews, training and list of rules but in the end, I understand why it is so important. Although my Little was aging out and my life got a little busy, we still stay in contact. Becoming a Big isn't just while you're part of the organization, it becomes a part of your life. This means a lot to me especially because I was an only child growing up. I recommend this organization to anyone looking to fill a void in their life and someone else's life.
