The staff was very friendly and accommodating of my limited Spanish ability. While the rooms were not fancy or significantly updated, my room provided abundant space and a comfortable bed. It also had a great price point! They do have an elevator but it is quite small - if you have mobility needs or lots of luggage, that may be important to know. I usually took the stairs to my third floor room except when I was moving my luggage.

After two harrowing nights staying too close to the noise of Plaza Major, I left my Airbnb early…read moreand found this oasis south of the old town. You can walk from the Parador to the Plaza Major in about 20 minutes. It's also located about 10 minutes from the Roman bridge that crosses the river into town. The first thing you notice as you enter the lobby is the huge picture window framing the cathedral. It looks like the scene from a fairy tale. Service upon checking in is relatively easy because the Parador has an app that allows you to pre-register. Before you arrive you can enter your name, passport/travel document details, etc. The man at the front desk who checked me in was efficient but not the most friendly. However, after the stress of navigating from Madrid to Salamanca with limited Spanish, it was so very nice to be received with some English. With few exceptions (I'm looking at you, guy in cafeteria who ignored me), the service I received from the staff was exceptional. When the app wasn't working and I couldn't view the room service menu, the front desk person printed out a copy, told me to call her and she'd order it for me. The kitchen staff doesn't speak English as well as the front desk does, so call the front desk for help if needed. The app is quite good for what it is. There are several buttons for info on amenities, and a cool chat function that lets you communicate with the front desk. I used it and it worked, but it's not as fast as just picking up the phone and calling. I ordered room service in Spanish but needed some assistance in English at the end. Between the two of us, we were able to communicate in broken Spanish and English. The person who delivered it to my room was so sweet and kind when she said that my Spanish was "perfect" and she could understand me very well. Food from the restaurant was exceptional. Dinner was delicious and I truly enjoyed breakfast--wish I could have eaten it all but there was too much of it! The room was divine. I didn't have a view and I didn't care. I requested a QUIET room so I could catch up on all the sleep I was lacking. The door has a foyer with a secondary door to close and seal off sounds from the hallway. It worked pretty well. The bathroom was spacious and clean with Jack and Jill sinks and a bidet. The toiletries smelled like jasmine, which I loved. I was able to soak for a while in the bathtub which is a rarity for many bathrooms across Spain. The bed was perfect--not too soft and not too hard. And the level of care they took with sanitation was beyond expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and if we decide to return to Salamanca during the second leg of my stay, I would choose this property in a heartbeat. I hope to bring my family back with me.

Beautiful hotel located in the walking distance to the old city of Salamanca - just one hill…read moredown...or one hill up on the way back. We stayed here just for one night on our way to Portugal. The hotel service was friendly and the room was big with semi- four poster bed.

Very nice hotel and excellent front desk service from Adrian…read more I needed some forms to be printed but there is no business center here- I was so grateful for his help in getting the paperwork I needed for the American embassy in Lisbon (see my post about the embassy of Lisbon for the rest of the story) Hotel is a short taxi ride from the city center or a leisurely 15 minute walk. I opted to stay in because of some embassy paperwork. Buffet breakfast for our tour group but dinners were served: decent but it is still hotel food. Free WiFi, like most hotels. Porter service, reduced waste by having bath gel and shampoo, dryer in the bathroom, also an in room safe that uses any magnetic striped card to activate.
