I visited Recovery Room on Goshen Road to purchase fabric for my chairs. When I asked the owner, who claimed to be an expert, how many yards I would need to cover six chairs, he seemed unsure and began estimating--five, six, seven yards. Based on his suggestion, I purchased five yards, plus he gave me the small amount left on the roll for free. After covering my chairs, I realized I only used about two to two-and-a-half yards. Feeling frustrated that I was advised to buy far more than I needed, I returned to the store to request a refund for the excess fabric I had paid for. To my surprise, the owner rudely refused and insisted they wouldn't take back anything--even though I wasn't asking to return the free portion. When I pressed for a refund, he escalated the situation and threatened to call the police, which he did. This experience showed me that the business lacks professionalism, honesty, and respect for customers. An owner who refuses to stand by their advice and treats customers with hostility doesn't deserve repeat business or recommendations. Based on this encounter, I'll never return and wouldn't suggest this business to anyone. Would you want to support a business like that? read more

The owner/proprietor of this business is an extremely rude, loud and obnoxious fellow. Mantra in his self conceited brain is that customers are dumb and always wrong. Combine it with their poor craftsmanship, it's advisable to stay away from this business. read more

I purchased a leather furniture set in Chicago and found that the zippers had broken on 3 of the cushions on the set. Yes, I was given a hefty discount on the set from the seller (The Dump - awesome store) and brought the cushions into the Recovery Room for new zippers. They did a great job repairing the set and got them done on-time. Every company gets negative reviews (easier to write a review when you are peeved), but wanted to give some feedback on a good experience. read more

I saw an advertisement for Recovery Room so I took 2 chairs in to them to be recovered.....big mistake! Make sure you read ALL of the fine print before you sign anything. Staff made verbal assurances (to make the sale) that they later wouldn't keep....or even admit to! I brought the matter to the attention of the owner who simply didn't care and told me to "take my business elsewhere". So....if you CARE about your project, I recommend that you take your business elsewhere, too!! read more

Unfortunately there are not many places that work on upholstered booths. I tried to hire this company for a repair at my business and was told after a scheduling error, not on our part, that he would prefer to stay away from this job. Business must be so great that they do not need anymore. I must say since I myself am in the customer service business, this guy, Larry, handled our conversation and situation with the least amount of professionalism I have witnessed in a long time. I wish I'd checked here before having our furniture cushions done by Recovery Room. They DID do a speedy job and I cannot complain about the price -- BUT, you get what you pay for. I say that because what I had inside my cushions initially was a soft kind of "batting" that was very fluffy & comfortable to sit against. It had just broken down over time and needed replacing. When I got my cushions back they now have a rock-hard kind of solid foam inside (when my kids visit they hate the new feel now/we ALL do!) that is already beginning to cave-in to the shape of being used after only a few months of light use. I had NO idea what was inside my cushions wouldn't be replaced with NEW/SAME material. I would've thought they'd have given me the option if it cost more but live and learn I guess. read more

Don't waste your time here. This business has a total disregard for customers. I drove to the Recovery Room this afternoon to ask them about a very simple project. When I arrived, there was no one at the front counter. No problem. Very soon, a woman walked by carrying a couple bolts of fabric. She glanced in my direction, but kept on walking. From where I was standing, I could see 3 other people (with their backs toward me) working in other areas of the shop. In a loud voice, I said, "Hello." No one responded. A bit later, I shouted, "Hello," again. The woman nearest me turned her head toward me, but then went back to work. I shouted "Hello" several more times, but was totally ignored. If you read some of the other 1-star reviews here, you'll see this is not an isolated incident. If customer service is important to you, this is not the place to come. read more

Our dog decided to chew his way out of our camper, destroying the dining area cushions in the process. Larry was extremely helpful and took the time to search for matching fabric and even compared the cost of various options. Paid over $400 to recover 2 bar chairs. Returned 1 immediately with a problem. Both chairs have frayed edges, 4 months later a fabric button came off and 2 screws holding the back came off. Should have just burned the $400. Don't waste your time or money. read more

This took me several days to find the right words before leaving this review. This is the second time doing business with the Recovery Room on an eleven year old, much-loved sofa. The first time was seven years ago with a restuffing project of two seat cushions, two back cushions and four pillows. The shape of our back cushions were no longer semi-cylinders but flat squares. We got use to this as the seat cushions were amazing. Great support yet very comfortable. These lasted seven years until we finally decided we could no longer 'flip' the cushions due to shredding of the material and scheduled to have them reupholstered early May - we waited five weeks for this appointment. We immediately recognized upon returning the cushions to the sofa that they were thinner. Everyone that visited noticed they were thinner - my mother needed help getting up! I gave this about two weeks then decided to call Larry and share my concerns. I took the cushion in for Larry to see and after twelve minutes of listening to my concerns being trivialized with a lecture on why fat people choose vertical stripes over horizontal and that perhaps I chose the wrong pattern and that's why my knees hit my chin. . .seriously???? I just wanted my old foam back! He claimed it was my original and with extra wrapping - no way. Something in my gut also told me not to continue this discussion as the 'tone' Larry used was not one of a customer matters - it felt a little insidious. I was pleased with their work before and gladly waited the five weeks only to be completely unsatisfied. They hold a monopoly in this area and believe they can do business this way.
