When we went to this hotel we first had a room and it smelt like smoke. but downstairs there is a no smoking sign so I'm confused about that and we had to change rooms because of it. when i tried to call the front desk it would not work and the phones would not work in general. the previous room we had before we changed it there was a hole in the bed sheet. please improve your hotel this was a bad experience, wash the bedding and clean the rooms it smells really bad and looks very dirty. in the bathroom my dad sneezed four times in a row because of how dusty and dirty the rooms was. We booked two rooms and both of the rooms had the same problems. i am very disappointed in this hotel and i expected better. read more

The hotel is nice but the house keeping is horrible. I been here for a week no one has came to do anything to the room I have been cleaning it and they came today and they said my one year old was destroying the room. Mind you there was 3 shoes on the floor. I'm going to post pictures of the room how we have it. She said my daughter is destroying her hotel room and is pissing everywhere. **UPDATE** A few moments after I had written the first review my fiancé, who was talking to the front desk as I was writing that one had informed me that we had been moved to different 'more clean' room. Upon opening the door we noticed the floor was wood and the bathroom had small tiles, the bath tub was much more clean as well. Heater worked so much better too !! We were running on fumes and I needed a break from driving so we looked up a place to stay on our trip to Wisconsin. The Red Carpet Inn came up and had a decent price with a coupon. We pulled up and they are under renovation so it was a little messy, excusable. The attendant responded quickly upon our arrival and I showed him the coupon we had. He said he only had 1 room left and it was a double bed no smoking (perfect) and the coupon wasn't valid for this date. However the price he gave me was only a $1.50 more than the coupon rate so a deal. Also we had our dog along and they were pet friendly and had a $10 pet fee per night. (not like the pet friendly that charge you $50 fee clean fee and then a per night fee, costs more for the pet than the people, that's not pet friendly). I think for the hotel that was a reasonable fee. The Red Carpet Inn is a bit dated and very used. I think they Red Carpet Inns buys up older hotels and renovates them. You have to understand they see a lot of visitors due to the US Naval graduations. Book early as if you can; they fill up quick. We didn't have a problem this time thank our heavenly stars, cause I was tired. Although it isn't the fancy place and has seen some where and tear; I've stayed in worst, much worse for more. They also are located next to Flanagan's Pub and Grill and it's a local place for the sailors and visitors to have some libation and food. Again, nothing fancy but good. My biggest complaint was in the morning when I was sleeping in the manager was going door to door knocking and asking if anyone needs anything. Intentions were good but I wanted to sleep. So I dozed off again and about 45 minutes later he came past again asking if anyone needs anything. I guess it was time to stay up this time. And off we were. No coffee maker, no continental breakfast, did have a pool I'd stay there again if I had to. read more

Pros: close to naval camp so it's very convenient Cons: Basically everything else. Beds were lumpy, pillows were super flat, some of the blankets had cigarette burns in them even though it's a non smoking room. The water coming from the shower was like mist. The toilet bowl was only screwed in with 1 bolt. The bathroom lighting worked, then didn't work, then worked..etc. The cigarette trash thing was located right outside our room and ended up smoking up our whole room because someone didn't put out their butts, we eventually had to go out and pour water into the canister to stop the smoke from seeping into our room. read more

We were in Chicago for my brother's Navy graduation. I didn't book a hotel right away; therefore, some of hotels were booked. Red Carpet Inn was the other option to close proximity to the Naval Base. I booked the room and read the reviews after. I was already going to really low expectations. I was surprised it wasn't bad. I mean you get what you pay for. It's not the best hotel I've been to, but it was comfortable. The rates were reasonable and it was super close to the base, which was a plus the morning of the graduation. The guys at the front were friendly. We only had breakfast the morning of the graduation. We were running a little late so I just grabbed some muffins and headed out. The rest of the days we didn't wake up early; so I can't comment on the breakfast. read more

WORST HOTEL EVER..! Drove from MN and had made reservations, got there about 5 or 6am, checked in early so we could get some sleep before going for my sisters navy graduation. The hotel made us pay an EXTRA night because we can in "early" I don't understand why they would charge us an extra night but should of just charged us or early check-in. Front desk people were unknowledgeable about the room fees and such. Worker was on personal phone talking to a "manager" because supervisor was on vacation. This place has the very basic necessities. Cable, tv, shower, free parking, and free wi-fi. And they have food in the lobby during breakfast time. But you get what you pay for and the beds are sub-par, stained carpet, stained towels. Fortunately for me, I'm not here to sight see or anything. Im just here to get some sleep just so I can do my normal work during the day. So I'm not really here to complain. I would come back just so I can save a few bucks. I wish I could leave zero stars. This place should be condemned. The owner is on site, watching but does not care about complaints, he sits around drinking coffee with friends. His general statement to each one of my complaints was "This is not a five start resort". The only employee was in the morning and she was polite. The two "housekeepers" are the owners geriatric parents who barely speak English. There's black mold, cockroaches, dirty bed linens and lack of general cleanliness. Be very aware of this place. It pains me to give it any star at all. This place is dirty, unsafe and thoroughly terrible. Take heed from all these 1 star reviews as they are ALL TRUE. We booked 2 rooms with 2 beds and when we arrived we only were offered 1 bed rooms. We did book through Travelocity so I can't confirm who's fault it was. When we went into the room we found the room had flies, the walls and bathroom were filthy. The rooms were lacking basic amenities that were listed on the website, like coffee in the room. Our door was also lacking a security chain. There was a huge dumpster in the front of the building, which made the room terribly aromatic. The walls are very thin, you can hear everything and everyone coming through, which was all hours of the night. Take note that there are train tracks about 10 feet from the hotel so bring something for you ears. Those tracks are busy during the middle of the night. By the morning, we definitely did not want to keep staying there. Front desk staff was very unaccommodating. We called travelocity to cancel, and the hotel would only let us cancel by paying an additional night's fee for each room. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Place was HORRIBLE!!!!! Went for my nephew Navy graduation and seen cockroaches all over. Called down stairs and they came in to spray. They sprayed one of the wall sockets and it began to smoke. This motel is priced right and very conveniently located near the Naval RTC facility at Great Lakes as well as shopping malls and Walmart! The staff with Yesenia running the front office and Roman the new owner do an exceptionally great job at making an enjoyable visit! Stayed there while attending RTC graduation. The sheets in one of the bed had blood stains, the toilet had issues filling up, one of the ladies at the front desk constantly had an issue with me asking for more towels and the fridge wasn't working either. When maintenance finally arrived, he unfortunately could not understand what I was saying so he kept snaking the toilet instead of fixing the ballcock valve assembly and I could not get the front desk to understand how to fix the problem either. This motel offers a pool and continental breakfast, which it did not have. When asked about it, and I did ask for some reimbursement due to the fact that I have had to go get us breakfast, they refused, saying it was the app that advertised fault for not updating. Other residents staying or living there were downright rude, playing cards and yelling right outside our room til 1 am. One of my friends was in Chicago for a month. She got a great monthly rate at this place. Her rates included a daily continental breakfast and access to their pool and fitness room. The rooms were well-kept and pretty spacious. A great option for people who are planning extended stays in Chicago and need affordable housing. read more

Staff was very rude! They told us they were booked however I went online and booked a room but was told my reservation didn't go through but it did. The keys are iffy, they work when they want to. There's people constantly running outside the room and talking loudly at all hours of the night. I was told I would get charged extra if the sheets were dirty lol so does that mean I get a refund for the sheets already being dirty? Unfortunately NOT! The room wasn't clean, the sheets were dirty and the a/c leaked all over the room. Maintenance beats the door down in the morning and if you don't answer they just invite themselves in knowing you're in there sleeping obviously (and no they didn't provide us with a "Do Not Disturb" tag for the door. They have one for the other room we booked however they acted blind to that. Horrible service, bad attitudes and the rooms smelled stale (I had a smoking/non smoking and both reeked) I had to buy candles and bring my own wallflowers to mask the smell. read more

Stayed here for three nights while attending my friend's Navy bootcamp graduation. they provide free shuttle to the base on graduation morning. The rooms were very clean and the service was great. The front desk staff were very helpful and treated us like family. It is my understanding this hotel is under new management and I know they are working hard on improvements.
