Located across the chaotic public market…read more This used to be the only mall in the city before SM came and killed it. It used to be upscale as well but nowadays it looks like a flea market. Plenty of kiosks selling cellphone accessories and cellphone repairs. There must be a market for these. A lot of new stores are in. But some of the old stores are still around though. Like National Book Store, McDonalds, Goldilocks, Rusty Lopez, Grocery store at the basement and 45 enterprises. If you're looking for bargain shopping, this is the place. There's a lot of foot traffic throughout the day. Ample parking lot located in the basement.

We hired a driver to take us around Baguio for the day paying a set price instead of having to call & wait for a Grab (southeast Asias equivalent of UBER). It was nice & convenient to have a driver on standby. One of the stops was the Philippine Military Academy. This is a military trading academy for the Philippines. This is the roughly the equivalent of West Point Naval Academy in the US. It's a very nice clean campus w/cadets in officer training.

I was looking for a copy of Jake Versoza's book on the Tattooed Women of Kalinga, and Mt. Cloud had it in stock. I was also able to get limited edition B&W photography postcards depicting life in the Cordilleras. I had the post I also love the idea of a book-mailing service, wherein they send you books every month if you subscribe to their program. I will be back! Shoutout to Gabe, the store assistant who graciously wrapped my purchases in pretty parcels ready to be given away as gifts. You rock!

Having a third place is important and being in an air conditioned, cool space is a life saver too. We decided not to hire a driver for this trip plus our fam member who usually drives was unavailable. We took rideshare here from our hotel. We got dropped off at the load/unload area on Luneta Hill Drive. SM City Baguio has a nice variety of restaurants and retail. I'm envious of their variety of brick and mortar shops and restaurants. Our malls back home are lacking so it's refreshing to see everyone gathering at the mall and enjoying themselves. The Sky Terrace view of the city was really nice. The sheer volume of visitors at SM Baguio was shocking. At least at Mall of Asia there was space to walk around. It was crowded here. The age demographic of teens-20s was evident because of the close proximity to the universities. A couple of my family members attended the University of Baguio and they told me they used to spend their free time at this mall. I just wasn't prepared to walk around with so many people. Even getting on the escalators and elevators was a challenge. The line was crazy long for taxis but the rideshare pick up area was empty. We got our ride in less than 5 minutes. It was time efficient and convenient. While waiting for our rideshare driver I saw the LEED Gold Certification right outside the drop off/pick up area. It's nice to know they've considered sustainability and the environment in their design process.

Plenty of stores and restaurants to explore as well as terrace areas on the higher floors to look out over Baguio. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the view over Baguio was from here, especially since we were here for sunset. Parking looked like it would be a bit difficult, but we were able to walk here without any issues. Great stop to spend a few hours while in Baguio.

What can I say. I'm all about finding a bargain even if it means doing a little "ukay-ukay." And it'll be an experience, for sure. So, Big Bro, GodNiece and I came through a tad bit early. (Every vendor was still setting up when we got there) so we got to kinda walk around (what I was told was) Session road and did a little exploring. (We even discovered a store that had these beautiful giant pythons! Whoa!) And then: opening hour. The entire area was simply bustling once their prearranged opening hours began. Boy was it crowded. We started on one end of the street where one can find a spread of Filipino street food: fish balls, chicharron, dim sum, porridge, soup, etc... we had a few to start us off prior to our bargain hunting. I found a SF 49ers sweater for P300PHP (around $6.) It was a must have because it wasn't a fake. (I would know. I already have something similar.) GodNiece found a sweater jacket worth $85US (her boyfriend who is in the US just got one) for the bargain price of P350PHP ($7.) It was a steal. (FUN FACT: Most clothing items hail from abroad. If you have an eye for it AND some patience, you will find some good buys here in this night market!) We walked through the entire thing and found even more good eats on the other end. (No, childhood friend refused to come.) It could use better lighting and spacing out between vendors. Otherwise, it was fun! I'd do it again given the chance!

At night most of the traffic is rerouted and this street turns into a night market! I've been to Bangkok's and Bali's night markets, but this is the first one I have been to in The Philippines. There were plenty of vendors selling clothes, electronics, and accessories! Some of the stuff here are much better in quality than some of the things I got in Bangkok and it was cheaper as well. We only did a little bit of shopping because we wanted to check out the food vendors which were all located towards the end of the market. The street foods were so good and cheap! skewers for 40 cents USD each and fresh coconut juice for 30 cents USD! I also saw several international street food choices as well (Chinese, Thai, American, Mexican, and Middle Eastern) as we walked through the market. Cheap delicious foods and bargain shopping are always a plus in my book!

Aisles are tight, not well lit, and signage aren't helpful. Long lines to the register. There are like 25 of them but it can take you up to more than 30 minutes to line up. I don't know what are they doing for people to wait this long. Employees are very apologetic though but we need action regarding this matter. One thing more is the parking, it is small and you have to wait for a car to leave to get a slot. Traffic can go up to the street sometimes. They don't validate as well which is a bummer.
