Mike Dolge, Jason, and James helped us re-build the front half of the house to be a more open, larger feeling living area with clever and charming built-ins that add needed storage space while preserving flexibility. They were able to blend building back in some Craftsman detail with a more modern, lighter sensibility that makes it feel like we added SF. Of the many compliments that we've received, my favorite is "it looks like this is the way it was always supposed to be," even though it looks and feels very different. We are so pleased with how it came out. Mike is creative, an excellent listener and had many good suggestions as to how to improve the space in the way that we wanted in a cost-effective manner. Both Jason and James, who did the majority of the work, are highly skilled carpenters who care about quality. We're kinda particular (my husband is a designer), so they had to do alot of checking in with us and problem-solving to get what we wanted. The whole crew are nice guys who were kind to my children and careful with clean-up. Mike also hires excellent subs who built a beautiful re-purposed madrona floor and tiled fireplace that Jason finished with the most gorgeous mantle of madrona. Highly recommend.

We worked with J&M on a bathroom remodel. Bathroom is 5x6 feet and quote was for 6 weeks work and…read more50k. We ended project at 18 weeks and 60k. During our project, the sub-contractors damaged the wall while installing our toilet by drilling through the wall and failing to hook up the toilet correctly so that water was pouring straight into our basement. The sub-contractor did pay for these damages. We had no supply chain issues with our project as we had purchased all the materials ourselves before hand. Our primary issues with working with J&M was that due to the amount of projects they had going on, it felt that unless we were actively saying we were unhappy with progress and calling J&M frequently, there would only be work at our home 1 or 2 days a week. When asking for estimates for components J&M were unable to provide accurate estimates. For example, it was estimated that tiling our shower would take 1 week with 2 people due to the complex design. It ended up taking 3 weeks. This is our only bathroom, so we lived with my parents for several weeks, but I would hesitate to recommend J&M to anyone who doesn't have a flexible timeline. In addition, J&M failed to notify of us of change orders that resulted in an increase of price. These were supposed to be agreed upon mutually before the work was completed, but instead J&M released them after the work was done and were forced to eat the cost. J&M did not provide any options to mitigate this cost even though this was in direct breach of our contract. Ultimately, we are reasonably happy with the final outcome of our bathroom, but extremely unhappy with path to get there. We ended up not asking for several fixes as we were so fed up with the inaccurate timelines and constantly changing estimates. Fixes include 1) bleeding paint on ceiling, 2) missed paint spot, 3) grout on window and tile, 4) miss-cut vanity counter-top, and 5) dip in floor tiling causing one spot to not drain. All in all, J&M has good general contractors, but seem extremely mismanaged in the back of office. If you do work with them, double check all billing multiple times as we found several inaccuracies. Hold J&M to prices and push back on change order process.

Kevin was polite and quick to come up with a…read morecontract to do this in a week - assuming we could stay elsewhere while he could work on both bathrooms with his team. Pros: We generally like the end result and the work was completed in little over a week as originally agreed. We felt the tilers he hired did an amazing job. Our shower floor is a masterpiece! Cons: Communication was a challenge. Some design decisions were assumed and we weren't consulted before hand - this led to surprises and delays prompting frustration. Kevin changed things on us without consulting us. Example: he changed the porcelain baseboards agreed to in writing with wooden baseboards. Thankfully, we caught this before installation by talking to the tilers who were being directed by Kevin. He installed defective parts - our faucet had a clear defect and he installed it any way. Although he originally promised to replace it, this hasn't happened months after the original work was done. Although he was responsible for carrying out old bathroom stuff, our garage is littered with lamp shades, storage pieces etc. The paint job was bad and my wife had to patch the areas that were missed. All in all, I was left very disappointed with the level of professionalism and ownership.

A year later the new sink showed a manufacturing defect and Kevin quickly responded, convinced the manufacturer to send us a replacement and came back to install it. That's really going the extra mile, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to friends or family.

Eduardo does NOT: * Tell the truth * Work well with other contractors, even those who recommended him. * Provide accurate and reliable quotes, estimates with itemization. * Keep his word. Eduardo DOES: * Talk a good line * Argue * Cut corners to save a buck for himself * Whine * Want a good review on google. We hired Eduardo to repair roof and ceiling. Quote included tarping roof to prevent leaks. Roof leaked not once but three times, damaging plaster ceiling and wood trim. He showed no concern for two over 70-year-olds on roof in the dark and rain tarping roof with our own tarp, or to the damage to our house, plaster ceiling and floors and trim. His response: "It wasn't supposed to rain." We were left with cleaning up their mess and hiring a reliable contractor. Could go on with more details. Have plenty of pictures if needed. DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON!

I thought it was small so I proceeded to put a large bucket underneath and left for a couple of hours. When I returned the bucket had overfilled and there was water on my kitchen floor!! I turned off the water and that helped a bit but it was still leaking. I called around and Eddie was able to come the same day because he just so happened to be in the area. He provided a free in-person estimate which seemed very fair. Especially given the fact that it was an emergency. The entire hot water valve needed to be replaced because it was so old. He immediately got to work and took a trip to Home Depot to grab the parts needed. Unfortunately, it also turned out that my dishwasher had the wrong type of water line so I approved for him to replace that as well. He took a second trip to Home Depot for that part! The job was done on Tuesday and I have no complaints. The sink is no longer leaking and my dishwasher now has a proper hose! Yay! Thanks again, Eddie! You are the goat!

He put us in touch with an Alside branch manager (who FINALLY sent us a list of the serial numbers for our windows) and washed his hands of us.
