The best thing about this chemist is its opening hours. It's a rare thing to find a pharmacy open in Brisbane until 11pm every night (except Saturdays - that's 9pm), and reassuring in case you're a slight hypochondriac like me.
The staff are cool and many of them have been employed for quite a while. Even when you catch them off-guard they're nice. Moreover, your chances of being eyed off like you're a drug kingpin when legitimately asking for Cold & Flu tablets are less so here than in many other chemists.
The place does a roaring trade at night, showing that I'm not the only one in Brisbane who thinks nasal decongestant is a good idea at 10pm. The prices for the merchandise I find to be very similar to that of other pharmacies - certainly never noticeably dearer. The counter often showcases little trinkets, the newest body therapies and a distracting selection of little candies. If I ever have to wait 15 minutes for a script (not often), at least there's things to look at to bide the time. They even have those old-school Bo Peep lollies.
Poor Red Hill Day & Night used to get robbed quite often; hence there's now a security guard at night. The area is safe after sundown, but unfortunately the pharmacy is often still the first place hit once a power outage finds Red Hill at night.
Fellow ladies: the make-up selection at this pharmacy includes Max Factor and Covergirl. There is also the renowned cheap-o brand of the moment, ultra3, which has great eye shadow colours and is cheaper here than other chemists I've visited.
Red Hill Day & Night Pharmacy is also open every day of the year, including Christmas. High five. read more
