Excellent price with plenty of great home style local food! Staff were entertaining, efficient and great service. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we came back a couple more times as we wanted to try other items on their menu, including their desserts! Next time we are back visiting, we will definitely patronize The Dolphin again.

The Dolphin has always seemed to be a spot for the fashionable over 25's (and occasional alcoholic in the corner) to come and enjoy a pint and a game of pool. On my visit last week, I was surprised to note it had been redecorated and generally smartened up (finally getting rid of the strange smell which had haunted the pub for quite a while). It's now a bright and cosy little drinking spot with a smoking garden added out back (a welcome change from being sent out to the street to enjoy a cigarette) and is under new ownership. Unfortunately, these changes have meant the cost of a pint has now increased; however, as the Milton Keynes area is now fast becoming a suburb of London it is to be expected to pay between £3.70 - £4.50 a pint at a selection of the pubs in the area. A round of two import lagers and a bog standard Stella was nearly £12 at the bar, which again, unless your headed to some of the well-known cheaper drinking spots in the area could be considered average. The menu has also been revamped and looks quite reasonably priced with a decent enough selection if you are meeting someone for a quiet lunch or caught needing to line your stomach before imbibing a few pints. Out of the selection of bars in the area, I have to say I do favor the Dolphin. It's quite "Vanilla" (nice, but nothing special), but at least with a fresh lick of paint it now looks clean and inviting for an occasional visit.

2 nights in a roll to eat with my coworkers while traveling…read more Went out with coworkers and one of them definitely loved food. Not usually my meal but I decided to try a British meal - signature mixed grill with chicken breast, pork sausage, black pudding, gammon steak (ham), and steak. Not leaving the fried egg out. Very interesting plate. Wish I had more vegetables but this is a good plate. Chicken and the sausage were my favorite on the plate. Also learned fries = chips, chips = crisps, dessert = pudding. #britishhfood #miltonkeynes #britishenglish Another full plate - coronation chicken which was marinated with curry. There was a hint of curry and the chicken was roasted well - unfortunately, not much flavor. Finished with the help of ketchup. Need more flavor, more salt would make a big difference. Another great night with my European coworkers! I probably drank my whole year of alcohol in this short trip. #miltonkeynes #britishfood #coronationchicken

Boxing day disasters, disappointing Booked table in October…read morefor the whole family for boxing day. Booked previously for 2 years but covid and lock down so couldn't go. Went in 21st December to pay the remaining and use my friends and family dis count of 15% as I was told you need to consume the food before they can discount it. So we added everything up and I added a drinks order aswell so i knew how much to take with me on the day. My self and family got there and got a shirty waitress who said there is no booking. She went over to the manger then rushed a table with out festive setting. Bare in mind the whole pub tables had festive napkins ,crackers and candles. 2 different table put together and one was shorter. Looked terrible . Waited half hour to be told the manager had forgotten our drinks order. Exhausted at this time. I let my daughter take over talking and ordering as I was near yo tears . I then got up to go to the toilet and had an ipad put in my face by the manager to say it stated we canceled went backwards and forwards with the manager like at a Christmas panto! Like I didn't cancle oh yes you did. The manager went to the till I went to my daughter to ask if we had an email and she said no. I went back to the till and saw canceled by host in red letters and a white line through it. I said you canceled it. Food was below average as my prawn cocktail was swimming in water. I showed her and all she said was " the water must be from the lettuce and walked off. All in all a complete disaster!! 2 days later an email came through stating the resurant had cancelled our table on Christmas day at 22.36. Also no apology, no thank you and was charged for a 12 year old dinner £29.99. Not sure that was right but no explanation. what a stressful day ! Would also like to say I have been visiting this pub for over 40 years and it's always been above average for food ,drinks and service Show less Date of visit: December 202. Still no answer as to why the above happened to my self and my family.
