Hi all, my lady, Dawn, our dog, Sophie and I just spent last night in cabin #1 at the Red Igloo Cabins in Gakona, Alaska. These are nice little places each with their own heat-source, plumbed in showers, toilets and sinks. Tastefully decorated, very clean and comfortable. The owners are friendly and continually strive to improve the grounds for the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. Give them a try or at least a call to see how they can help you or your friends with a nice little place to stay if you find yourself in Gakona. Nice place. The rooms all have private bathrooms and some basic food (extra charge, though, but it's nice to have the option since there arent a lot of places to buy food nearby) Owner gives you a cinnamon bun for breakfast each day, which is tasty although it's not a very complete breakfast. Rate here is cheaper than other nearby places with the same setup (like Gakona Junction Village -- dont go there, dishonest owner). read more
