The owners were running the kitchen and they were so modest and kind. We wished we could have joined for dinner the night before but we showed up a few minutes after the kitchen had closed. The atmoshpere in the saloon/bar and the restaurant bring you back to long lost times. It's charming and authentic. You can tell the people running this place really care. It's clean, they think of everything you could want/need and I believe they undersell themselves. They could charge a lot more than what they're charging right now. We pulled in later than I wanted and had to leave way too early, but the time we had in Cabin #3 was fantastic! Ample room for a family of five in a rustic cabin set in this amazing valley, alongside a swift moving creek, within walking distance of good eats...it is a perfect roadside oasis! We ate at the bar that night since the restaurant dining room was closed...mostly pub fare...but healthy portions and with a touch of someone who cares hand cut fries, a hint of tarragon in the tartar sauce,...best damn cheese curds I've ever had...holy crap...the curds were like garlic nuggets...and cheese! Someone is doing great things with somewhat limited offerings. Even the tap list is subject to what's available...lucky for them there's Gakona Brewing (sounds like a guy in his basement) down the road knocking out a couple kegs of beer for them to keep the ale flowing! After dinner, we made it back to our cabin and watched a DVD on how to skin a bear...because...ALASKA! WTF NOT? Cozy warm beds and a good nights sleep...a simple, but adequate breakfast of fruit, AMAZING HOMEMADE SCONES, coffee and juices put us back on the road...I wish i could have spent days here in this little oasis...maybe next time when I have a little more time on my hands... Thank You for being the perfect little getaway from it all!

Beautiful log cabin on Glenn Hwy just west of the Glennallen hub. It features several bedrooms…read more Some with private bath and some with shared. It is a tastefully decorated two story open architecture that beckons one to explore the common sitting areas and balconies. The large modern kitchen offers all the gadgets needed to create your own meals or munch on the many snacks and juice provided. There is free WIFI,no TV. Guests can entertain themselves with a shuffleboard table, reading books, or playing a variety of instruments found throughout. We enjoyed the well tuned piano and guitar! There's also a fine massage chair! The wood stove offers a great place to toast your ...feet. The whole place is clean and inviting. After a hot shower we hopped into a soft bed. It's soooo quiet! You'll sleep like a baby. Our host invited us to make ourselves at home and use any food stuff for breakfasts or snacks. Plenty of Keurig coffee and tea. We made eggs and English muffins for breakfast. We were the only guests. Not that many tourists in November. Those of you in route to Valdez, McCarthy, Tok, Canada, Delta Junction this is a perfect place to stay and rejuvenate instead of pushing through. Or, the cabin could be a great place for hunters, fisher people, or friends and families to just plan a fun getaway. RV folks should park it and enjoy a night ' at an Alaskan 'home.' The prices are reasonable. I believe we paid about $189 for the night. It was worth it. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Can't believe this gem has been hosted by the same great hosts for 12 years!

My favorite thing about this place is that it has a lot of interesting things on the walls and the train. I can't even imagine how long it took the owner to set up the train tracks and all of the scenery around them. It goes both inside and out and it is set up amazingly. I love it! The bartender Jess is awesome and the owner has been there every night (although I don't think he can get too far away. He lives above it.) I would definitely reccomend going here if you are in the Copper Center area.

Stumbled into this place completely by accident. Was on a week long road trip of the state and…read moredecided to see what was down that road. WHAT. A. GEM! The owner, Ron, is a super nice guy who has lived on the property for 19 years. The bar and the detached lodge are clearly his heart. The saloon shouldn't be called a "dive bar", because it is immaculate. But it is very eclectic. The model train that runs all around the bars' ceilings is no doubt one of the largest in the nation. It goes out of the bar walls through tunnels, and goes all over outside and through other (private) buildings. Ron is an expert on the history of the Copper River Valley, and has written a book of fictional history based on his own family. (I purchased the book but haven't read it yet.) The gardens in the bars' outdoor patio are beautifully kept with lovely grass and flower beds. There is a pool table and several jukeboxes, all with an astonishing collection of music varying through all genres and many decades--even big band and swing music. Friendly staff, super cool decor...it is an Alaskan bar at it's finest, and I have seen many, many of them. My friends whom I was traveling with from San Francisco were flabbergasted. They come from a place that tries so hard to be cool, but they kept shaking their heads in wonder and saying, "This place is SO LEGIT." Of note is that this is also a lodge. We rolled into the bar intentionally having an adventure day with no plans of where we were staying. We were thrilled that Ron had several lovely rooms to rent for the night. Showers and bathrooms are shared, but the rooms were clean, had excellent beds and even more fabulous bedding and pillows. Think 5 star bed in a little room with the coolest bar you've ever seen within stumbling distance of that bed. It was a great experience. Be prepared to meet some interesting locals as well!
