Very sad, sad experience. Love natures gifts and always excited to be in a rock store. At other rock stores owners and employees are always so nice and helpful. This owner was so mean and disrespectful. Down right ornery! Hated to ask questions because he would bark at me. I was purchasing several items and making a "pile". Others were in the store and when they left, he called me over and told me i was taking to long and to leave. I was floored especially since i read the reviews and was trying to be so nice to him. Then another customer came in and he got really mad. I mean it was mid day on a Saturday! I almost put everything back but i needed some souviners for my rock friends. This last time I went, I asked if he took Apple Pay (his POS says Apple Pay and tap icon) and he interrupted before I could finish with "NO!". Everyone in the store looked over. It was so embarrassing. I drove from Cody, WY to go to the store and clearly saw the Apple Pay sign, so I asked again "you don't take-" and he screamed "NOOOOO!" interrupting me again. I started to cry and my fiancé got his card out and gave it to him. He rung it up and threw the card down on the counter. A lady working at the shop down the street said he's always hungover. Stopped in recently with my family and our experience was similar as others. The owner is not friendly or helpful at all. When we came in, he was sitting in the back and he didn't even acknowledge our presence. We looked around and when I found a book I wanted to buy, I had to hunt him down and he acted bothered that I needed him to ring me up. The selection is OK; it's mostly the typical specimens you see that are sold in bulk to rock shops worldwide. Prices were a bit on the higher side, but I expect that in a tourist town like Red Lodge. All-in-all, I have no real intentions of visiting again because the owner is so disagreeable. I get not being overly friendly, but he doesn't even make an effort to be pleasant. If you're ok with that and you go knowing what to expect, then it's an OK place. read more

The shop is absolutely beautiful: so many neat and wonderful treasures. Perfect for crystal and fossil lovers. Absolutely adore the handmade jewelry and wide selection of items. I also appreciate the steps the store takes to prevent the spread of COVID-19. You are prompted to wash your hands at the front of the store and I feel like that adds a level of safety many stores do not have. read more

A must stop for rock lovers. I have been to Red Lodge Rocks on two occasions. Both times the owner was friendly and appreciative. His rings are beautiful. It can be hard to know what you are getting when seeking to purchase more natural pieces of jewelry. His pieces are the real deal. I will most definitely visit again. read more

Visited Red Lodge with Family a few days ago and this was the first shop we walked into. I was excited because my daughter loves healing crystals and stones and I was looking forward to buying her some for her bday. Unfortunately, we were greeted by a grumpy older man who was sitting behind the counter. "Wear your masks!" He belched out. One person in our party has a medical issue and can't breathe with the mask on, so he started to explain that to El Grumpo, who cut him off and said my friend could come back with a note from his doctor and he might have time to read it. I let El Grumpo know I had planned on spending a lot of money in his store as we all left. What a shame that his is the first encounter many visitors will have. We didn't let it ruin our day and I was able to spend more money in several of the other great shops. read more

We stop here every time we come to red lodge :) the older gentleman there may seem a little rough around the edges but is actually a really cool guy! He makes a ton of the jewelry there and all of the stones are high quality beautiful pieces! I wear my stone jewelry from here all the time and they are beautiful! read more

A one-star rating is far too high. The owner was aggressive, disrespectful and dismissive. I was wearing a mask. I asked if I should wash my hands because his signage was confusing and three different signs all apparently came together to complete one sentence. The owner's response was "Are you effin stupid boy?" For the record, I'm not. I asked if his business model and mission statement included cussing at people and kicking them out of his store. COVID-19 is the best thing that could happen to this store because it means he gets to pursue online opportunities. I recommend buying rocks from the river across the street. read more

The old guy everyone is talking about is a hoot for those who enjoy poking the bear. Highly recommended. He is known by all the locals for being the biggest A-hole in town by far. My first introduction to him was when he used to have a lot of cool old rifles displayed high up on the walls with a sign that said you could ask him about the guns after making a $20 purchase. I bought something and used the purchase to ask how he came to own so many old rifles. In the biggest d-bag way possible, he responded "money", that's it. And I instantly knew I was staring at the biggest gem in the shop. I visit him every time I go to Red Lodge. He has since taken down the rifles. Never again. Me and my husband wanted to go to red lodge today to spend time together. We came by this rock shop because we both like crystals. The man running this place is highly aggressive and just an all around POS person. We were in the store around 10mins, he SLAMS on the counter and yells "Okay you need to buy something or get out, I'm serious!" We won't be going back. I wish I could rate ZERO... This place it's not a kid or family friendly place. The old guy is very rude and crabby and made me feel very unwelcome. My kids and I are into rocks, we go over the river to hunt and collect it. Collecting and hunting rocks t's fun and also teaches kids to love and respect to earth they live in. We went to this Red Lodge Rock shop yesterday the person that was there( an older gentleman ) was very crabby and rude. Barking at my son if he had washed his hand, which he all did since there are huge containers with water and soap right at entrance. My son asked price of a stone ( in which the price was under it, but he couldn't see without touching) this gentleman simply answer " the price is there" My son had a bunch of his own rocks on his pockets and he was showing to him and asked if he buys rocks, the man again didn't even let him finish his question cutting him off very rudely with a grumpy voice said, "no I don't want those rocks'". Last drop for me was when my kid asked the price of the most expensive rock he had in his shop, the old grumpy guy response was " I am not telling, because it's to much and you can't pay for it" Don't waste you money or time there, especially if you have children, you will be very disappointed. read more

We went in to look for some crystals/rocks and the old guy told us to leave . We thought he was joking and then he stood up and yelled 'Get out'.. This was not the first time this has happened as I am an adult and would like to be treated as such. I would recommend the drive to Billings... much better than here in Red Lodge. read more
