I had been waiting for about 10 mins before I mentioned it to the workers there. After I told them, they immediately went into action and BOTH walked me to my car and made it known to the man that they "knew" me, to say hi to family and visit more often. I do go there regularly to get my drinks and they have always been very kind and nice. I appreciate the way they made me feel safe and will always only go to that liquor store for anything I need. They do carry soda made from cane sugar as well as corn syrup. I prefer the cane versions. I'm not sure how much better cane is but corn syrup is definitely not the sweetener of choice. Nice variety of liquor here. Prices aren't as good as Mission or Remedy out by Glendale/Pasadena but still much more reasonable than hitting your local liquor store. They do carry a lot of high end items like Remy Louis XIII which i was a bit surprised to see. The store itself isn't much to look at but just by virtue of their stock and prices, it's probably worth a stop if you're in the area.

Unfortunately, the staff always seems to be on the phone instead of engaging with customers, and the prices feel aggressively marked up. I understand paying extra for convenience--especially when you're in a pinch--but it creates a toxic relationship where customers feel taken advantage of rather than appreciated. Eventually, it almost forces you to shop elsewhere. I really wanted this to be my go-to neighborhood liquor store, but it's hard to justify coming back. Even Chat GPT says they're ripping off customers lol I'll only be coming here if convenience is key but at this point, I'd rather make the drive to Sam's Club, Food 4 Less, Stater Bros, or Smart & Final before coming here for drinks, all within 1 mile away.

I used to sweep the outside curb when I was 5 yrs old while my Dad, grandpa, aunt and uncle worked. My aunts and uncles & cousins lived in the duplexes behind the stores & my grandparents lived in the big house, & us in the little house behind. The grounds were all vegetable gardens and fruit trees. The liquor store was still called REX way back then in the 40's. Great memories of my big ITALIAN family and every Sunday w/out fail,big family dinners w/ no less than 32... My Grandma (Nana) did all the cooking & never sat down to eat until everyone was seated, adults in dinning room, kids on back porch. Sounds impossible now days. After dinner my grandpa would walk all the grandkids (15) to the liquor store to by us each candy we chose. The women would help clean up the after dinner mess and the men & my Aunt Mary, all went to the back porch to play a card game of pinnacle till it was time for ice cream compliments of the neighbor Rose who worked @Foremost ice cream factory. She'd bring my Grandma 3gal. tubs of sherbet ice cream. Lol seems impossible now days but those were the 50's. We stayed close knit even once we sold the property and moved to Downey, but that wasn't until after the riots in 1965... And I'd say the late 70's...Rex liquor store did not have even 1broken window... The neighborhood loved my grandpa (Nanu) as he loved all of them. They wer like family to each other... Despite it's size though you are sure to find even the hard to find bottles or drinks. The 2 women working the front are always great, always appreciate the fun playful exchange, and the security, cool dude. A few parking spots located on the side and back of the building. You can almost always find it more busy at that afterwork 5pm hour. Def recommend for you to stop by and grab something you normally wouldn't get. It's for sure always a hit.
