The advantage RP has got over some of the other restaurants on the High St is that it you can access it from a big car park at the rear.
The wife hadn't been before and also because it is very close to home we decided to give it a try straight after our last firework. I had been before but with so many Indians and so little time hadn't made it back. It was half full on the night, the staff were particularly plentiful, friendly and efficient. It was pleasantly warm which I'm increasingly finding isn't always the case.
It is easy to identify that it used to be a pub as they've kept the rather large bar, this seems a little odd as it doesn't serve alcohol. The decor is fine, a mix between the old & the new which I believe they have plans to slowly modernise.
Complimentary poppadoms with onion salad, yoghurt & tamarind sauce in small white porcelain dishes. We had starters, the flat onion bhaji wasn't to my taste, a little hot & dry. The veg pakora however was very good so much so that the wife pinched it all.
We had no complaints with our main courses of CT Sag, CT Masalla or CT Bhuna. My Sag being particularly tasty as promised. The rice , frozen chips and garlic & coriander naan were also fine, served in larger white porcelain dishes.
Non of us had room for a dessert off the now common frozen menu.
We did notice an interesting dish going passed our table, a Cornish Pasty apparently filled with a curry of your choice. The menu description curry in a naan really doesn't do it justice it has to be worth a try next time.
All in all quite good, and very reasonable and would recommend it apart from the onion bhaji. Just under 4 stars but gets rounded up. read more
