This place is great. The service was excellent. My hubby had the medium ribeye and it was huge and seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had the baby back ribs. Very tender and great flavor. Stoped by thinking it was going to be good but I was disappointed, I had the Monday special on a Monday and the meat love was all raw in the inside. The mash potatoes had no flavor and the gravy was straight mud. The only good thing is the salad bar, we'll the only thing I had was the salad bar and the sweet tea. This is one of those unexpected treasures we happened upon driving home to Denver. The waitress let me know the 4oz and 8ov chicken fried steak haven't been frozen. It was flavorful and tender with a well seasoned, crispy crust. The mashed potatoes were good and the cream gravy had good flavor. I'd definitely eat there again. Great place to come grab a casual steak! Ambiance: Red Prairie is a simple and unassuming place with no frills whatsoever. It's exactly the type of place you'd expect in small-town America where you come for a well-made, hearty meal and good company as opposed to the stuffiness of a nice restaurant. Food: While on the pricier end of the menu, I always go for the steak here - typically the Ribeye. I have been several times and it's always well-cooked and flavorful. For sides, I go for the mashed potatoes and Texas Toast which is delicious! Every meal comes with the salad bar option which has good variety and is decently priced. I personally am not a fan of salad bars but many of my friends go for it every time to round out their meal. Drinks: No bar here unfortunately - but they have a mean sweet tea. Service: Service is hands-off and friendly. This is not the type of place you expect white glove service, but the waiters are still available when you need them and diligent about keeping your drinks full. No complaints here. Value: While I don't have the menu to look back on, we spent $60 for 3 people with one of us getting the ribeye, another the chicken fried steak, another the steak fingers and salad bar, and a couple of soft drinks. Compared to the rest of the town, this is one of the pricier options but as a visitor I am not complaining for such a great and hearty meal. My husband and I decided to stop in here on our way home. He's a big fan of steakhouses. The building looked nice and clean, big parking lot and easy access to Walmart, which is located behind it. We walked in and saw a sign to please seat yourselves..there was two waitresses by the front door. They asked where we were from and we told them close to Watonga, then we talked about our local Cheese Festival. They were so nice and welcoming. Then we found a small table by the wall. There is a TV on the wall showing a basketball game and was muted. We both ordered the medium ribeye medium-well with a baked potato, texas toast and a salad with two sweet teas. The salad bar is huge with lots of options available..even some soups at the end. We just about got filled up from the salad when our main entree arrived. We had two waitresses keeping our teas filled and asking if everything was alright, very attentive. The Ribeyes were cooked perfectly, the baked potatoes came with a package of sour cream and we could load them up from the salad bar. Everything was so delicious! While we were eating crowds of people started showing up for dinner and they opened up an extended dining area. We were stuffed but I wanted to take some peach cobbler home with me so we got that and some to go cups for our drinks. There is semi truck parking so my husband was pretty proud of that..we'll definitely be back! read more

Sorely disappointed after getting a whiff from outside. Husband's salad bar was good but for a side it was $3.99 without refills. His chicken fried steak was of the processed frozen variety as were the fries not good at all. My chopped hamburger steak had good flavor but WAY over cooked since I ordered medium ( pink center) and there was no pink or juice to be seen. It had a good flame grill flavor but it was just a preformed thin patty bought at a wholesale club. My home fries were ok except the onions in them were mainly tough outer skins. All in all won't recommend won't be back. read more
