These people are not professional movers. They don't have their own trucks and the movers are not trained. They didn't provide the large truck that I contracted for so everything was smashed in. Honestly if I could give this moving company is zero I would. Because they are the worst moving company I have ever came across. I am supposed to be moving out of my apartment today and I scheduled them yesterday to be here at 2:30 PM. They did not show up until almost about 3 PM. When they got here they seem very unorganized as if they didn't even know where to start moving or how to move the furniture into the truck. Furthermore when they found out that they had to move furniture down three flights of stairs the man told me he needed to go get a third mover to help them and it would take about 30 minutes before they were able to come back and start moving. I was fine with this because I needed to go return a truck anyways however by the time I got back to my apartment Which was about an hour later they were still not back. When I called they stated that they were 15 minutes away and they were going to be here soon. Another 45 minutes past before I finally got a call from the company where the lady began to tell me that one of the movers injured themselves and unfortunately they were not going to be able to move my furniture out of my apartment today. When I began to tell her that that was complete bullshit and the only reason why they canceled is because they found out last minute that they had to climb three flights of stairs due to her lack of information, all she could say was that she did not have movers and basically oh well for me. Even though I specifically stated in my email that I sent and on the phone that I lived on the third floor. She stated that they did not have any more movers for today and that they would be able to move me tomorrow afternoon however that was going to be a problem because I needed to be out of my apartment today. She did not want to work with me, she was very rude, and when I asked if there was any compensation and if they were at least going to move me for free tomorrow they stated that they were not going to do that. With that being said if you're looking for movers please do not hire these dumb ass incompetent people. They are very unprofessional and very unorganized and they will not work with you by any means. No call, no show....we scheduled a team to unload our moving truck into a storage unit. We waited and waited and called the office several times. All calls were sent to vmail. Since our rental moving van was due to be returned we finally unloaded the truck after a 2 hr wait. About 3.5 hour past the appointed time one of the guys called and said they were headed our way. I explained we'd waited and finally had to unload on our own so we could return the rental. I asked why no one took the time to let us know they were delayed but they had no explanation. I understand delays and jobs that may run long...I don't understand no one keeping us in the loop and letting us know about the delays. Booked an appointment with them about 30 days earlier called them left a couple messages and voicemails a day before and the day of moving to confirm. No one returned my call until 20 minutes before the appointment time that she called and said that "there is an emergency" and they cannot make it. And that she can send someone the next day at 9 AM. Red Raider Moving is an Amateur moving company!!! When I moved from Houston to Amarillo, I personally and a friend moved the Mattress from my house (in Houston) to the moving truck. Mattress was covered with fitted sheets and moving blankets, there were no issues with mattress at no given time, not even the sheets or blankets were dirtied! Upon arrival in Amarillo, Red Raider Movers, 'Amateur Movers', decided to take the fitted sheets and moving blankets off and carry the mattress bare. I and my friend were inside the house while they took sheets off in the moving truck. When I came out and saw "Your Amateur Movers" carrying the mattress - begin dragged on the pavement, I shouted at them to Stop! I told them they were dragging my mattress and when I looked, it was filthy dirty with big black spots! One of the guys at that point told me, "don't worry, just get some baby wipes and it will all come out"!!! I went to the store and bought baby wipes, the end result, baby wipes didn't do a thing!!!! When "whomever" (as letter is NOT even signed) sent me a letter stating...... "Due to that fact, sometimes the movers are not able to transport the mattress without rubbing/dragging it on the ground monetarily. They are trained to avoid that type of occurrence, but sometimes it is unavoidable." That comment alone says "You are an Amateur Moving Company"!! A Professional Moving Company would "Never" drag a mattress, they would know better and would use big moving blankets (which I had many of in the moving truck, "Moving Blankets". A Professional, if they are not able to do something because of weight, would have told me before attempting to carry mattress, that mattress might get dirty while carrying or even asked for help!!! The movers stole a pistol from me, quit working early that day to hide the fact and THREW things into a pile that had not been boxed into a corner of the room. They then moved a wardrobe into the doorway so I couldn't get into the room where they'd stolen the gun. The owner refused to do anything. Dud Alert: Waste of Time and Sanity In short: don't even bother with these duds. I enlisted Red Raider in Sept after a relative passed away; we needed to move their belongings from Westgate Self Storage to Bob Gore's Auction House. It took me four separate attempts across two days to get a callback from the owner, Ryan. They were scheduled to meet us at Westgate at 1pm on September 21st. We arrived early to clear out the unit and make easier for the movers to load the truck. At 12:15 Ryan text they were delayed by two hours. My main concern was Bob Gore's Auction House closes at 5pm and we'd miss the delivery cutoff. Ryan asked to move the pickup to the next day at 8am, which meant reloading the storage unit and doing it all over again tomorrow. Instead I called Bob Gore who was beyond kind and courteous, assuring us he'd stay open as long as we needed to get this done. Afterward I reached out to Ryan and received no response for two and half hours. At 2:43pm, when his crew was supposed to arrive in 17 minutes, he informed me they were delayed ANOTHER two hours. Now they wouldn't arrive until 5pm at the earliest. I told Ryan this whole thing was very unprofessional, prompting him to become argumentative. He claimed he informed us of their right to delay a service within 30 minutes of the appointment. I do not recall such a disclaimer. But regardless, even if I had been informed of such a policy, he violated those terms with the second delay notification that arrived only 17 minutes before their supposed 3pm arrival. Ryan then said he didn't want to do business with us and cancelled the contract altogether, leaving us high and dry after hours of stringing us along. I contacted Bob Gore to let him know what was going on. As someone who's been in business since 1958 he couldn't believe what happened. Next I informed the manager of Westgate Self Storage who was equally appalled and kindly referred us to ZipDog. Imagine our shock when a real person answered the phone on the first call. ZipDog was very helpful and booked us for the following day. Their prices were lower than Red Raiders AND on top of that they offered an additional discount. Red Raider left us pretty jaded that day but Bob Gore, Westgate, and ZipDog more than made up for their lack of professionalism. As an Amarillo native who attended Texas Tech I think it's terrible this unreliable company shares the name of our beloved University mascot. read more

I used RRM in January 2017 and had no problems. They did a great job. So I booked them again this month (the following October). I was scheduled for 2pm, then they texted and said they were running 2 hours behind. Then they called and said it wouldn't be until 5pm... then they NEVER SHOWED UP. Before our move, we checked out the BBB rating of this company and found no issues. Also, we checked the reviews of this company out on the internet, and there were some mixed reviews, but not terrible. Our move started out ok, they showed up on time and all seemed well. They were to deliver our possessions to two different locations, DFW area & Birmingham Al. They made it to the Tx location on time, unloaded our boxes and left, we were missing 3 boxes. The next stop was Birmingham Al, but Jason the owner who unloaded our boxes stated that he could not make the trip to Birmingham because of hurricane Issac. He said he would take it back to amarillo and rent a U haul and bring it to Birmingham later in the week or next week. Next thing we are notified that the load of possessions going to Birmingham ( which included Fine Art, ex. Warhol, etc.) was on its way to Birmingham in the back of a pickup truck with no protection from the elements. They were taking our belongings and fine art through a Hurricane with 10+ inches of rain in the back of a pick up truck! The driver called and said he had covered the stuff with a tarp. Are you kidding me? We went with Red Raider moving company because we though they would take a professional approach to moving. We paid them $3,200 or more dollars to move us. We did not pay that kind of money to have our belongings and art work moved in the back of a truck. If we wanted that we would have saved our money and moved ourselves! We have tried over and over to get in contact with Jason ( the owner) but he refuses to answer his calls & will not return our call. We wanted to settle this without getting an attorney involved, but they apparently don't care. Apparently they have insurance that we can file a claim for our loss and damaged goods but since they are avoiding us we will have to sue. We are filing a complaint with the BBB of which they are members. Also, we will file several complaints with the Dept. of Transportation as well. I agree with the other posts about this company! DO NOT USE this company! They hire thieves who stole our belongings. They loaded the truck at my house in Canyon and locked the truck. When they went back to Amarillo, they unloaded my stuff and moved into another truck. During this process, the ones who unloaded the truck, decided that they would keep what they liked. We tried to resolve this with the company, but they refused to be reasonable and pay for the belongings that were stolen since I can't prove it was stolen. HELLO! It saw it loaded onto the truck. Why did it not make it to my house? It has been being violated twice- once by the mover thieves and the second time by the company who won't be responsible for the actions of their employees! Beware! I hired them to load a U-Pack trailer for a move from Amarillo to Phoenix. I was told they'd wrap what they could with plastic wrap for protection but I needed to get moving blankets. I ordered twenty. In the morning the two men were great, wrapping everything. In the afternoon, after a 2 hour lunch, they were in a hurry because they still had to do another job and didn't wrap my bottom adjustable bed mattresses (plastic covers are too small) and my less than a year old small sofa. Cleaning these pieces isn't possible, I tried. I get the truck is dirty but had they wrapped these items they'd be fine. THERE WERE 10 UNUSED WRAPPING BLANKETS! Worst experience...the 2 men they sent did not know how to pack the sofa and love seat correctly, they both have wood pieces that stock up...They unloaded my refrigerator and insisted on installing it, water line and all even though my husband is perfectly capable, and there was a slow leak that wasn't viable to them...when i went around the corner after they left my living room carpet was saturated, the fridges leak came through my wall onto the floor...i called Ryan Thurman the owner and he told me that the boys say they didn't install it and that his insurance won't cover the damage and furthermore that he didn't believe that his guys caused the damage...this business is not worth the trouble, next time i will hire a business with ethics and integrity. read more

I asked to speak to the manager and the movers told me they would call him for me. After they talked to the manager, the movers passed along the message that "being late was part of the business." Guess not the day off got a call an hour before their brake line was messed up and they would be an hour late, 6 hours later not return call and 3 voicemails later I had to book a U-haul and move from my 2 story apartment myself on a knee that is going to be fixed soon. Hired Red Raider moving to help my Mom & Dad move across town. HORRIBLE experience!!! They were an hour late, didn't have all the supplies they needed so we had to go find shrinkwrap for them, took all day to pack furniture (2000-3000SF house, not a huge amount of stuff), scratched lots of stuff up, INCLUDING our stainless steel refrigerator, and have not done a thing about it. I understand that everyone makes mistakes and is human, but the least you can do is apologize and pay for damages. They will not follow up on the experience or try to make amends. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere or just doing it yourself - not worth the money, even if they are affordable. read more

MOVING? BUYER BEWARE!!! The crew did not pad any of my good furniture. Dings and deep gouges on everything! Frames broken, glass shattered, a HOLE in the side of my computer, they lost the wing nuts for my formal dining table, punched out the back in one of my formal dining room chairs, deep gouges in all of my expensive frames, Mexican chimney back leg completely broken off, quoted us for 4 men and only got 2, had to leave my pool table because it was "too heavy" for 2 men, (duh, that's why we specifically requested 4 men), the owner said he never knew we had a pool table but I have my husband on video recording telling him that we did. Broken and shattered the crew did not even tie anything down in the truck so my stuff bounced the entire trip. No wonder they were insistent about signing a release. This company moved me in June. While they did an excellent job moving me they broke the glass in an antique china cabinet that was a family heirloom. They took pics and also the door to get the curved glass replaced. I have talked to, left messages and left numerous texts with the owner Ryan Thurman concerning this matter. It is now January and I still have no door or returned calls. Very frustrating because I recommended them to several friends. Made a reservation to have a truck and two movers come to Borger on March 8, 2013. They never showed up. They called prior to scheduled time to say they were running 30 minutes late which we appreciated and understood, but things went downhill from there. After initial phone call they did not return calls or text message requests as promised. The number they give you goes to voice mail and they screen. After repeated calls and text messages we finally got them to respond, but all we got was a series of excuses. They strung us along all day and never showed up. While waiting on them we checked BBB website, and found that their accreditation had been revoked for similar complaints. Wish we had checked this first, but fell for a fancy ad in the yellow pages. We used Red Raider Moving to help us load our UHaul for a move from Amarillo to McAllen, Tx. They showed up about 1/2 an hour late (yet charged us as if they had shown up on time) and there were only two guys when we had requested three. They spent what seemed like a very long time wandering around our house alternating between joking loudly with each other and exclaiming at how much stuff we had to move. They asked repeatedly "Everything goes?" In dubious tones. When they finally started moving stuff out the door they moved very slowly, with lots of talking and long pauses between loads while they hung out in the truck and talked. We were very prepared, with everything boxed and ready to go and most furniture already dissassembled. As the truck filled they told us what other furniture needed to be broken down and they helped in this process, but while my husband and I hustled they sat on our front steps and took their sweet time (not out of an abundance of care, just laziness). They easily spent an extra two hours (six instead of an estimated four) on loading by talking and moving slowly, which was very frustrating as we needed to clean and get on the road. When they finally finished we started to pull out a credit card, when it finally occurred to them to mention they only take cash or checks. We barely managed to pull together the (padded, excessive) sum on short notice, having already closed our local credit union account. They charged us the quoted amount for a three person team, which was $30 more per hour than another local moving company we had used the year before, who were great. I wouldn't be writing this review if that was the whole story. When we arrived in McAllen we were extremely upset to discover that they had stolen our PlayStation 3! Our first call to the owner about it went very smoothly, with him requesting the weekend to talk to his guys and promises to compensate us for the theft. Meanwhile, we caught unauthorized activity on our Netflix account, which was linked to our PS3. When the owner didn't call us back we called him, but he wouldn't answer his phone or return our numerous voicemails. Called 1 week before actual move to make sure everything was set to go. Ryan told me all was good. They were supposed to be at my house at 10:00 the morning of Sept. 13th. Ryan called at 8:30 that morning to tell me they had a small apartment to move before they came to move me and they would be at my house at 12:00 by the latest. That was okay. But 12:00 comes and no movers. I started calling. Ryan would not return my phone calls. Finally about 2:30 they call and say they are on their way and will be there by 3:30 (5 1/2 hours past my original moving time). Well they do not show and after repeatedly calling Ryan with no calls returned the driver of the moving van calls to tell me their truck is broken down. This goes on for another 2 hours! At 5:30 (now 7 1/2 hours past my moving time) Ryan finally calls and says it would be a couple more hours if I wanted to move that day. I told him to forget it!!! I called a mover called Alternative Moving that evening desperate because we had to be out of the house that night because the new owners were already moving their stuff in. Fedor (the owner) said yes we can move you and they were there in a couple of hours to move us. They are my life savers and I highly recommend Alternative Moving at 367-9700. read more

Do not use RED RAIDER Movers in Amarillo Texas !! We rented a climate double controlled storage & all of possessions were to go into the units. As Jimmy was leaving to close on our home the 2 guys moving us told us that they were needing another building. They also asked for grututity and Jimmy told them that he didnt have any cash. We were not ever told that we needed to pay gratuity. We were told that we would pay by the hour. He rushed to get an outside storage because that was all the was available, so our outside things could be put in there! We went by there to get a few things when we were home. When Jimmy opened the door one of our expensive art sculptures was laying on the floor broken into pieces. After the shock of that we looked up & saw our paintings, custom bedding, our daughters wedding dress, prom dress, mattress & expensive piece of furniture in the outdoor storage. They were all covered in dirt! We called (Ryan) the owner & he said he would get a hold of Daniel & call us back. He called us back & said Daniel said & would not listen to a thing we had to say. He treated us like we were lying. Of course Daniel wasnt going to tell his boss sitting across the desk he screwd up! We even sent before & after pictures and the receipt of the sculpture when we purchased it. He told us he would talk to Daniel more & would call back. I called & texted him with no response. I had two young men show up to move a few pieces of furniture, a piano, a washer and dryer, and some boxes to Canyon from Amarillo. I was very concerned as to how they would move my piano and the movers said their boss had not told them I had a piano, and they also were not told i was moving my stuff to Canyon. It took 30+ minutes for another man to come help move the piano, and to be honest, it was pure luck that it did not break in the process. As they were loading my belongings, I noticed that they had put my new couch up against the side with no cover, and loaded my washer and dryer without any cover also. Once they unloaded my stuff, there were GREASE STAINS on my new couch from how they put it on the truck, as well as a grease handprint from the mover. They also completely scratched and ruined the new paint job on my washer. When I tried to contact the owner, he would not respond to the pictures of damage until I threatened to contact the BBB. After Ryan, the owner, finally called me back, he told me I could get a can of paint for $3 and some chemical cleaner at Walmart for $5 and then told me to JUSTIFY why I deserved any refund more than $25. He was very unprofessional and rude, and made excuses such as, " Painted stuff comes off when harnessed in, and that perhaps my washer and dryer rubbed off on my couch." While I understand completely that mistakes happen and do not hold any grudge against the young men who moved my stuff, I feel they were not properly trained and do not recommend this company simply for the lack of professionalism of the owner. read more

They told me they did interstate moving. We they arrived, they were in 2 rented trucks. Later I found out they had their DOT number suspended. Interstate movers must have a valid DOT number and insurance. I believe he used the rented trucks since they have DOT numbers printed on them, but he was also required to have his own DOT number when contracting the move. We moved 500 miles away and his group of day labors damaged every piece of furniture I own. From chucks of wood missing to deep scratches. Heavy boxes stacked on light boxes (crushed boxes on arrival). He tried to send a repairmen, but the gentleman said the damage was beyond his expertise. I called a furniture repair shop in the new city and paid another $400 for an estimate that totaled over $17,000 in repairs. When I demanded his insurance info with that amount, he told me to call his lawyer. Great if I knew who was his lawyer. He lied when he said he had insurance to cover the move. He lied when he said he was allowed to move household furniture to another state. He doesn't return phone calls. WORST experience ever!! Do not use this moving company! The only time the owner answers his phone is when he books you. Didn't show up the first day the move was scheduled and was 2 hours late the day it was rescheduled for. Believe what the BBB says. The owner will tell you a huge lie why he has such a poor rating. But from the experience we had, he earns every poor, miserable rating he gets. He also holds your furniture hostage when you disagree with him on the price (him sending extra guys for you to pay for when you didn't agree to it (whom didn't hardly work)). He tells the drivers of his truck to return the furniture back to the old house and put it on the lawn. After BEGGING him to please just bring it to the new house, he agrees only when you say you'll pay him in cash and pay the amount HE requests.
