My husband and I wanted a wedding where we could explore and adventure while giving our families…read moretime to connect away from the distraction of phones and email. My expectations for the weekend were blown out of the water (literally) in the first ten minutes on the jet boat ride. I don't think we stopped smiling for 3 days. I can't imagine a more beautiful setting for a wedding if rivers and mountains hold a piece of your heart. The staff was incredibly fun and accommodating. Dax is the cutest 6 year old host you'll ever meet and I felt almost no stress before the wedding because I knew Joni had everything under control. If you want a wild jet boat ride, jump on Bucks boat ;) Mackay Bar is truly a hidden gem in Idaho. All of my friends and family are texting me that we forever ruined their expectation of a wedding. Sunset horseback rides, fishing, hiking and phenomenal food. I am forever grateful for our wedding weekend and Mackay Bar and we are plotting to get back there as soon as possible.

With Mackay Bar I can tell you that the answer is a definitive yes! I could write a memoire but I'll keep this short and sweet; amazing accommodations and even better people. We had a great time! Very good outfitter and guide. 3 out of the 5 of us ended up getting bears…read more Everyone saw bears on the baits and the two who didn't get bears, including myself, were being choosy and passed on the bears that came in due to their size and color. Even seen some elk, coyotes, and deer. The lodge was great, clean rooms, comfy beds. Great food with a big breakfast, big lunch, a sandwich for the blind for supper, and soup or stew once we got back after dark. Rick and his guide Beau were awesome. A wealth of knowledge and expertise. Was a blast picking their brains and learning about the region we were hunting. As an avid hunter, this is what I want in an outfitter. They set you up for success. Its up to you to seal the deal. And its a hunting outfitter, not a guarantee. People don't seem to understand that. If you want to be guaranteed an animal, then you need to go to a high fence game farm and buy your animal. This is a great lodge in the backcountry of Idaho. Rick and Deb were great hosts, and we will be back for sure.

My parents lived in Dixie for a number of years. I took my boyfriend to Dixie to see where I spent…read morea lot of my time growing up. We also went on a horseback trail ride while we were there. We toured around the area and over to Elk City where I used to live and work. Our stay at Silver Spur was really excellent. Rick and Debbie really took great care of us. Our room was comfortable and the food was really great. Anything we needed they took care of for us and we didn't want for anything during our stay. The guides who took us on our trail ride were all very good and we had a wonderful time. Rick, Debbie and their workers were all really great and we would definitely come back and stay again.

The upgrades are awesome! Easy ticket access and little wait time in lift lines. The conditions…read morewere perfect for springtime, groomed and ready to rock and roll. Stopped into a yurt for some liquid courage and off I go- lots to select from beers, drinks, and food- chicken and waffles at a yurt? Yes please. 65 dollar lift tickets for a day at Brundgae is a steal, they had free demos, and beer vendors galore. Live music on the mountain makes my heart warm.

If you are a family looking for a fun adventure, run. What should have been a super fun day turned…read moreinto a terrible day when the snowmobile tipped and pinned my 9 year old daugher's leg under the snowmobile. She was screaming and I was desperately trying to lift this 400 pound machine off of my daughter while screaming for help. Thank god my 6 foot 4 brother in law ran and tip it up so we could pull her out. Her leg was bruised but thank god not broken. The guid's response? "Oh, that happens all the time. They're built to tip over." WHAT?? Stunned at her cavalier attitude I'm like, "so this is a normal experience on your trips? Do you think you should do anything differently so this doesn't happen?" She's like "I feel like you're attacking me - we did everything right." No, Perry, you didn't. The safety prep was so inadequate - you never told my daughter to keep her legs on the metal footrests (I didn't know to tell her!) nor did you explain how often they tip and what to do. And this is what haunts me - after we'd been riding 30 mins I HAPPENED TO ASK if I should pin the kill switch to my jumper. Court, the male guide (who was super kind) said "oh yeah! That's important so if you fall off the vehicle stops." Friends, had I not had that on, my daughter might not have her leg. What a different experience that would have been if they had adequate safety training. "Hey these tip a lot - so here is how to safely fall so you don't get pinned. Oh if someone tips other people need to rush and help them tip back up. And here's the kill switch you must attach to your person so the vehicle stops when you fall. And kids, keep your feet on the metal footrests because if you dangle your legs bellow them your leg will get pinned." I will say I spoke to guest relations and they were very kind. Just empathy - they still charged us the 1k for the trauma, but I did feel like they really listened and took my suggestion of giving the guides a physical checklist to go over like pilots do before flights. Like I totally get that mistakes happen, but own them. Do better next time. Care if your families have a good time or a terrible time.
