Anyhow, despite my feelings about weather or not it's run down, I still find myself in the area taking pictures and enjoying the history of the downtown district. You can enjoy Mexican, American, the steakhouse 'Proud Marys' and there is also a coffee shop. They've been known to host a mimosa brunch (that was bananas). And tonight there is a band. If all else fails, you can always end up in a casino.

If you're traveling on I-220 around the Shreveport-Bossier metro area then you'll hit this bridge depending on if your travels take you through Caddo Parish... Nothing special about the bridge itself cause it's simply an interstate concrete bridge...Well let me take that back, you'll notice you tend to cant(lean) toward the middle as you drive over the bridge...This is due to a hazardous materials feature they built into it...If a tanker hauling liquid was to wreck and spill it's contents the liquid is supposed to run to the center of the bridge and then drain into a retention pond at the east end of the bridge, thus protecting the water supply for Shreveport... But the other cool aspect is the views to your left if your heading West (or vice versa if you're heading East)....You can look across the lake and see the skyline of downtown Shreveport and the casinos and it's a pretty cool sight...not to mention the pleasure boaters, water skiers and sail boats you can see at certain times of the week/year... That's about all there is to say about it...it's just a cool experience in general...

It is on two sides of the AT&T building which would otherwise be very boring blank walls in a somewhat run down industrial neighborhood. Nationally renowned NEA fellowship mural artist Meg Saligman and her team worked to determine what should be painted on two sides of a 12-story building that would tell people in the next millennium who the people living in Shreveport were and what was important to them in the year 2000. 50,000 brush strokes, 1,500 gallons of paint, 2,500 paint cloths, 2,600 community painters, 4,000 community collaborators. Today, the enormous, colorful mural dramatically depicts the story of Shreveport--what is important to it, what has endured, what about it is beautiful, and what it wishes to leave for future generations. The east side of the enormous mural features 18 models, all everyday Shreveporters. It is a vibrant depiction of the cycle of life, with an infant at its center being showered with water from containers carried by a multi-ethnic cross section of the city's residents. Watching over the scene from the left is a Native American woman representing the original Louisianans. It was definitely worth detouring off I-20 to check it out. On a Monday morning, there were almost no other people around and it was quiet. Google says it's "closed" but I don't know how you close a mural. It is visible from the street and the parking lot. The city of Bossier City sits along the raging Red River and is the place to come if you are looking for a wild ride and a huge range of things to do. If you like the great outdoors, then there is certainly plenty to experience here, such as parks, & the largest rose garden in the United States. (Found at the Greenwood exit) Festivals!! The second time I visited was during the quaran-times of 2020, so it is difficult to know of any large gathering public events being held. There are two axe throwing places here, which is amazing since there isn't one in the greater New Orleans are that I am aware of. Everything seems easily accessible. There seems to be something for everyone to do. Which is saying a lot. I look forward to coming back and seeing more that the city has to offer.

The desserts were larger on our first visit and only a bite or two on the second. We tried both the cheesecake and bread pudding the first time. The bread pudding was so much better. The second visit was also my birthday so there was additional dessert. Some kind of light fluffy angel food cake with strawberries. It was Devine! On the house because the staff absolutely rocks! We were excited to try it, but the management and service were completely unacceptable. We added our name to the waitlist and were told it would be about a 45-minute wait. After receiving a text notification that our table was ready, we approached the hostess stand expecting to be seated. Instead, we were told the manager had given our table away to a party that joined the waitlist after us. While standing there, we watched another party of our size get seated at a separate, unreserved table. The manager and a kitchen staff member were standing by that table just chit-chatting with them. When we asked why people lower on the waitlist were being seated before us, we were told we would have to wait while they continued seating others. They told us it would be another 30 minutes, and we even received a new text notification that basically reset our spot on the waitlist. Rather than making an effort to correct the situation or accommodate us, the hostess simply said there was nothing she could do because the manager had seated those tables. What should have been a nice family meal turned into an incredibly frustrating situation where we felt completely disregarded. We never even got to see a menu, so I cannot rate the food. I have never encountered this level of poor treatment at a restaurant. If given the option to rate this restaurant a 0, I would. I will never go back.
