Everything was INSANELY overpriced, the only thing I liked that wasn't behind glass was around 300 dollars for a rusted street sign, not to mention the copious amounts of insanely offensive racist memorabilia. Lots of crazy expensive small glassware that was upwards of 100 dollars. The only redeeming factor was the reasonably priced old books. I went to this place two years ago and saw the same items because no one would buy anything for the price they're asking. Unless they change their pricing, just don't waste your time.

The entire building (basement, garage, main floor and second floor) is full of very well organized items. There were spiderwebs and visible dust in some places but overall pretty clean. I wanted to wash my hands before I left but bathrooms are currently not available to customers due to COVID. All staff wore masks, hand sanitizer was available at the door, and all other customers that I saw had masks on as well. Each floor has at least two means of egress via stairs. There is an operational freight elevator but I'm not sure if they allow customers with mobility challenges to use it. I like that their sections of records and books had been sorted by genre - that makes looking for a specific title much easier. We found the prices a little high though we didn't find anything to purchase and negotiate. Lots to see, some beautiful wood furniture, and we would definitely stop back.

I nor the executor had time to check these out but it was understood they were in good condition when last used. Please note that my question was why so many chairs, but- that not not germane to the subject. so i went to goodwill a week + ago and was told by a nice your man they would take the chairs and if not sold locally would go in auction. I and his ex wife loaded the chairs and delivered to Canandaigua store . On delivery we were met by a very loud take charge 30 y/o male indicating "he" would not take the chairs - yes i admit they were damp (misting out)- the tarps used were dangerous (possibility of coming off so i did remove them) so the chairs were damp (NOT WET) --- frankly this little man was trying his darndest to be an alpha when his lot in life is a beta - that is the way he came across'd at least. Another guy a bearded gentleman came out and agreed to take them, in meantime the bata guy was yelling to someone all the way to the north west part of the receiving area that he did not want this donation if j said he was rude it would be an understatement, in mean time some guys came out and unloaded these machines, i would guess a battery charge and a cleaning would put them right back in service -- oh one more thing, before taking them to the store that day i called there number and spoke to a young lady that also told me to bring them down---- tell the truth i have donated there before but will think again about where i will go next time ---

As for the fees, the State Sales Tax goes to the State, not Hessney. The buyers premium is indeed a rip off (since Hessney likely charges the SELLER a fee as well), but it is clearly stated at the beginning of every single auction and on his web site. The saddest thing is that buyer's premium does not buy you any guarantees. I think if you are being told that an item is in a certain condition, then it turns out that it does not work the buyer's premium should allow you to bring the item back for a refund of the bid price. The buyer's premium should be an insurance policy, not an extra 10% fee for Hessney. I would waive insurance if I could waive the fee. But to waive any insurance and still pay a fee above an beyond your bid price is just thievery.
