We hired Red Table Catering after doing some online research for an experienced Brooklyn caterer for our wedding. We did not want your typical wedding fare, and Brooke and his team did not disappoint! Brooke is incredibly easy to work with, and we bonded over my husband being from the same area of upstate NY (Buffalo area). We had a 135 person wedding at The Green Building in October of 2014 and Brooke custom designed our menu to include smoked fried chicken breast, Weiner Schnitzel, buffalo chicken wings, grilled cheese and tomato soup shots, a slider bar, beef short rib, and even monkfish liver! Our tasting was another great experience! (we consumed 4 hours worth of food in 45 minutes that was so delicious we had to eat every bite). After the wedding, we got the kind of feedback you want post-reception: "The best food I have ever had at a wedding" "The coordination of the folks who brought each course out was impressive!" "I seldom went a few seconds without putting something in my mouth!" "Delicious, and so unique!" "I've been to 100 Italian wedding hall-type weddings, and this was a stark but amazing contrast" "This was my daughter's first wedding, and now she will be looking for the amuse bouche at every wedding she goes to!" When you have a wedding at the Green Building, you have to bring everything in to the venue, including any custom seating, place settings, etc. Brooke spent hour with me picking out just the right decor and table settings for the vibe I was looking for. We found Red Table through a New York Magazine article on caterers specializing in small bites -- something that they did not disappoint on for our wedding. My wife and I didn't want to do a traditional sit down dinner for our reception, so we were looking for someone that could deliver a twist on classic hors d'oeuvres and heavier stations that would keep our guests feeling both delighted and full. We contacted a number of options we had also found in that NY Mag piece, along with recommendations from friends, family and other referral sources. After narrowing it down to a few select vendors based on a combination of price point and sample menus, we ventured out for tastings. This is where Brooke and Melanie won us over. Shallot jam and mascarpone bruschetta, gougère with gruyère and chevre, sliders on super soft potato buns, and more came to our table with each bite better than the next. All the while, Brooke was the ultimate host and made us feel like we were in great hands. We booked them for our event shortly thereafter. They helped us throughout the process, from working within our budget, to booking the necessary equipment they needed themselves through our preferred vendor. Correspondence was nice and easy, and they made themselves available for site visits to map out their footprint for the evening -- something not every vendor was willing to do, let alone gratis. The night of the party, Brooke and his team were just unbelievable. Servers moved efficiently throughout a large outdoor space, making sure everyone had multiple opportunities at the menu items. When an item for the bar didn't show up from a different vendor with the order, they ran out and took care of picking it up from a place in the area without hesitation. They were even kind enough to pass out a special dessert we had from a local bakery -- a testament to their goal of making the night about the client and not themselves. Our guests even took notice, raving about both how delicious the food was, and how nice and courteous the staff was to everyone. We can't recommend Red Table Catering enough. I hired Red Table to cater a birthday dinner for my boyfriend in my apartment. It was amazing! Brooke and David were communicative and very responsive. I thought it might be weird hosting a dinner for 8 with the chef and server present, (didn't grow up in Downton Abbey) but it was relaxed and not at all pretentious. My hubs and I hired Red Table after NUMEROUS quotes and calls. Being a foodie w/ a carnival theme, I wanted to have a wedding that had the essence of a carnival while still being tasty and classy. Red Table knocked it out of the park! From day 1, Melanie was on board -- working w/ us at every step to make sure that we had what we wanted, at a price that we could afford (from food to drinks to rentals), while not looking stingy or w/ bad day of service. The result: guests couldn't stop raving about the food, how the tables looked, how attentive the staff was, and how it was the best wedding food they've ever had. To this I say it's because they're food is NOT wedding food. Instead, it's food just like you'd have in a really great restaurant or at a really, really good home cooked meal. For our menu, we went w/ sliders, mac & cheese tarts, pan seared tuna on wasabi plantain chips, home recipe sausage & potato empanadas and a cheese board. For dinner, we had fried chicken, skirt steak w/ chimichurri sauce, orzo salad, corn on the cob and a salad. As I said, everything was AMAZING!!! Guests were particularly fans of the mac & cheese, pan seared tuna and fried chicken. Who has fried chicken at a wedding and kills it like that??! It wasn't greasy, the spices were AMAZING, and the batter was so nice and crispy that it was hard to believe that it was actually cooked en masse for our wedding! For the empanadas, Melanie used our own sausage recipe since I didn't want 2 beef hors d'oeuvres (since we usually have beef empanadas -- reflective of my Argentine dad). For the sliders, Melanie worked w/ us to make them just how I wanted. At the tasting, they had used more a flaky break w/ ketchup. Since I really disliked the bread and don't like ketchup, she worked w/ me to get it just right -- brioche, bacon, cheddar and bbq sauce. In the end, guests LOVED IT! Some even posted right out of the kitchen to snag them b/c of how much they loved them. And to honor both of our backgrounds, Melanie worked w/ us to create dishes that were reflective of our families -- the skirt steak w/ chimichurri sauce & empanadas for the Argentine dad, and a roasted pig from a nearby filipino restaurant for my filipino background. On top of all this, Melanie allowed us to bring in our own desserts which made our wedding that much more special and personal. As such, we were able to get desserts from all of our favorite places -- pies from Jericho Cider Mill, cookies from Tate's in the Hamptons, rainbow cookie cakes from a bakery in Queens and my very own sister-in-law/bridesmaids homemade goodies. Overall, if you want something that's so personal to you while still tasting beyond amazing, you can't go wrong w/ Red Table (ie: Melanie was even able to give me my goat cheese at the cheese/fruit station and have it so far from all the rest of the cheeses to appease my goat-cheese hating hubs). Red Table just catered our 150 person wedding this past Memorial Day. Before deciding on Red table we did a lot of research on caterers. Though reasonably priced, food was the biggest expense of our wedding. Being food lovers, we really cared about the quality of the food. Many of our friends who had recently been married warned us that while they were wined and dined by their own caterers before their event, the food on the day of was disappointing. We really did not want that that happen. Thank God for Red Table. They were wonderful to work with, and the food was perfect - our guests raved about it. We wanted simple, fresh local food and that is exactly what we got. For hors d'oeuvres we had mac and cheese cups, seared beef filet on potato crisp with horseradish mustard and with apple sauce and sour cream, and Vietnamese summer spring rolls. All delicious. For dinner we had a mixed green salad w/fresh goat cheese, toasted pumpkin seeds and cider vinaigrette, salt boiled potatoes, grilled market asparagus, mixed long beans with crispy shallots, lemon herb roasted chicken. We also added a vegan main at the last minute - we told Brooke about a stuffed squash that we ate in Wyoming that we really liked, and gave him the green light to play with it and make it more seasonal. Again, everything was amazing. For a late night snack we served poutine (fries, gravy and cheese curds). As a native Quebecoise I was a little nervous about how the poutine would turn out, but Melanie assured me that they would do their research and they totally nailed it. Finally, of almost equal importance to us was the ease of working with Red Table. Brooke helped us choose the best meal for the occasion, and Melanie walked us through everything we would need to rent for the event, and offered advice on how to save money and reduce waste. Having Melanie at the event the entire time was key: with her there we didn't need to hire a day-of planner, we knew that the wedding was in competent hands. Melanie helped coordinate with our other vendors, she kept us on our toes about details like place cards, table numbers, table layout, etc. They were so great. Essentially what happened was that they were very busy and there were (completely understandable) extenuating circumstances preventing her from getting us a quote when she promised. I was the reluctant bride, not so much in the fact that I didn't want to get married, but more in the fact that I found the whole idea of planning a wedding very daunting. I am not one for details and planning and all the fuss. However, Brooke and his team made my experience not only easy, but actually enjoyable! From the very beginning Brooke put me at ease. He offered a tasting for myself and my very good recently married friend Lucy, who has a very discerning palette and actually had her reception at Freemans, one of NYC's top rated restaurants on the LES. Though I am not a very fussy person when it comes to all the silly things a wedding entails, having amazing food was high on my priority list. In fact, it was really the only thing I cared about. During the tasting, Brooke made us feel immediately at home, as if we were having dinner at an old friend's place. He is extremely talented in the culinary arts, but very down to earth and made the entire experience less intimidating for me. When we arrived, Brooke already had several appetizers and sides made. The cornbread was perfect; moist and buttery with a slight crispiness on the outside.The panzanella was absolutely lovely and great for any time of the year and the chicken liver pate was absolutely to die for! I literally am still thinking of it today. It remains one of the best things I ever tasted. Even Lucy who has extremely picky taste was impressed. We both felt that Brooke's cooking was incredibly unique, rich with flavor without being pretentious. Brooke was the first caterer I visited and I knew from the first few moments of walking into his kitchen on Leonard and getting the waft of yumminess that he would be the one to serve my guest on the most important day of my life. Brooke continued to be easy going and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. As mentioned, I'm a bit of mess when it comes to planning and I was always a bit unsure of myself. Brooke was very flexible and understanding with the copious amounts of changes I had through out the planning process. I had to change dates and # of guests on several occasions and Brooke always rolled with the punches. Furthermore, I had so many special dietary restrictions from guests including, exclusive meat eaters, to pescatarians and vegans. Brooke was able to address all these needs with something delicious! When the actual wedding day arrived, I was so crunched for time. I had rented a unique photo studio in Williamsburg, which was not typical wedding venue and I had solicited the help of my friends including my man of honor who has had 8 years of wedding planning experience to help set-up. We were still putting up tables up to the last minute before I had to get my hair done. That's when Brooke's team arrived and swooped in and got all the last details straighten without me or my man of honor directing them on anything. When we returned from getting ready everything was in place. They were a well oiled machine. My man of honor who again has become jaded with interacting with so many catering companies and who thought nothing could ever impress him again, thought that Brooke and his team were the best at their trade. The evening was somewhat of a blur due to my nervousness, however I distinctly remember getting so many compliments about how amazing the food was. Most of my guests thought it was the best wedding food they ever had. Many of my friends were still talking about the food once I returned from my honeymoon. Brooke's team really helped me make a lasting memory on my guests. Brooke helped me accomplish the one goal I had for the wedding and that was to give my guests happy bellies! This fabulous team catered a fundraiser at 26 Bridge this week that was AMAZING! They coordinated small bites with local food vendors and then provided the main course and desserts. First, the food was fantastic. Even though the kitchen had to hold the entrees due to a delay in the ceremony, the salmon came out perfectly done. The risotto was just right with sweet peas and a creamy finish. The roasted chicken was moist and briny and golden. But the best part was the staff. The nicest, most accommodating people who kept pace with our 200+ guests, filling glasses and swiftly clearing and helping where needed. Just an all-around great bunch! read more

We were extremely fortunate to work with Red Table on a charity fundraiser for our non-profit, Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger. From start to finish, Brooke and his team were amazing. They put together a fabulous cocktail spread for us and somehow managed to do it within our limited budget. His blood orange margaritas and white sangria were the perfect complement to our Cinco de Mayo-themed hors d'oeuvres, which were delicious and creative, beautifully presented, and plentiful. Their signature market table was a huge hit, with an abundant spread of dips, spreads, cheeses, market vegetables, and more. The staff was incredibly professional but also warm and friendly - a combination that can be difficult to find. And Brooke was a complete pleasure to work with, start to finish. He was immediately responsive whenever we contacted him during the planning process, gave us great suggestions and also listened to ours, and made sure that every aspect of the event was carefully planned and went off without a hitch. My cohosts and I hired Red Table for a coed baby shower cocktail party. From start to finish Red Table was great! From planning the menu (we did the market table and slider bar) to scheduling the rentals, the communication was excellent and prompt. The staff was wonderful, on time, friendly. The chef was neat and organized. The captain kept me well informed. They were all really fantastic and my apt was so clean afterwards- they were on their hands and knees cleaning my floor! The food was great...I think the crowd favorite was the fried chicken sliders. Once again the staff was so attentive and took care of every detail. My organization has hired Brooke and the Red Table team for numerous fundraisers and gala events. I just started working as the events associate at this non-profit arts organization in Brooklyn and was told to reach out for a quote for an event we had at the beginning of February. Out of the quotes I received from multiple caterers, Red Table had the best price and made it extremely easy to set-up the agenda for the night. Their menu was extensive and made my job much easier the night of the event. We were holding the event at a Board Member's home and needed to be sure all details were thought through and handled with care since Red Table would be working in their kitchen and throughout their home. Brooke came for a walk-through the week prior to talk out logistics and made suggestions of changes we may have wanted to make to guarantee the night would go smoothly. He let us adjust details within the final days of prep and made the changes with no problem. His expertise was very much appreciated by our entire staff. The night of the event was fantastic. The entire crew was aware of the "run-of-show" schedule we had (meticulously) put together to execute the night of speeches and performances within our short time frame. The food was great and the timing of service and refreshing of drinks was spot on. When we extended the night about 45 minutes they had food ready to go and didn't miss a beat. At the end of the night, they were packed up and ready to leave exactly when planned and were sure to check with the host and hostess if there was anything that they needed help with or put back in place. It is very hard for a non-profit organization to find caterers that understand the budget restraints we are under. They had our best interest in mind and were honest when answering our questions. We are hiring them again for a fundraiser in March and look forward to continue working with them in the future! read more

Hiring Red Table was the best decision my husband and I made for our wedding. It was PERFECTION. Our guests have been raving about the food, everything down to the starter salad! They really know they are stuff and are so passionate about what they do. Not only that, but they are down to earth, kind people. We knew from the second we met Brooke and David that they were "the ones" to take on the job. They really just want to make you happy and make delicious incredible food. They really felt more like family at the end of the wedding process. I really can't recommend them enough.
