On my last trip, Grassy Point delivered my kayak to the water ready to go, and within a few minutes I was headed out to the bay to go fishing. At the ramp I noticed several kayak owners struggling to unload and prep their kayaks for a day of fishing. I simply loaded my gear on the kayak, signed the paperwork and was gone. The county has made many improvements to the public facilities, but so much more needs to be done because of erosion. We saw several birds here including egrets, a heron, a Broad-winged Hawk, Bank Swallows, a Northern Harrier, and an Eastern Kingbird. Worth the stop if you're a birder looking for a quick little viewing area, but there are a lot more spots on the Calhoun Loop that are even better so don't fret if you miss it.
