The communication is not very good and when I…read morehad moved her to another facility that they had recommended to was a nightmare and there was neglect I had reported to the social worker, the social worker has not investigated anything regarding my mom's neglect it is not right! how your family member has rights as well and they are not protected is a scary thing. other staff members are very good and there's some with communication issues or getting the right information. I do not recommend this place for your family as far as communication and med issues as well. the social worker is suppose to be supportive and on your side when these issues arise instead they turn their heads to this! I have made reports! not great if you want to get answers, you have to figure them out yourself And fight for your family members no one else will!!! this is horrible so much stress to go through when all you want to do is spend that energy on your sick mother! I'm sad for my mom to have to go through what she endured I was the only one to save her from harm. You trust your family with compassionate people and that's not always the case so sad! She was heavily over medicated on morphine! Than told me she was actively dying which she was not and giving last rights because we thought we were near the end when she was over medicated! You don't see red flags until you go through it wow unbelievable!!!!

When choosing a Hospice provider, you do have a choice, although like all other aspects of…read morehealthcare in Rochester, the options are monopolized by the big conglomerate in town. Since my mother has always been under the care of Mayo physicians, and since she was in Methodist Hospital under the palliative service, we chose Mayo Hospice. It is disappointing to say that Mayo Hospice was as much of a disappointment as the Mayo cardiologists that missed my mother aortic aneurysm and caused her to end up in Hospices care. As a physician, I know the constraints applied by government funded health insurance. But I was unprepared for the unwillingness of Mayo Hospice to care enough for a patient's desire to continue to try to live as long as possible given their terminal diagnosis. We were told we were not giving my mother dignity in her death because we did not want her to die from an infection. We had to wait a week to get a stool culture to diagnose a Clostridium Difficile infection with diarrhea. We were told we could not pay out of pocket for treatments because they would not allow that type of care. Unless you want nurses that will at every turn recommend sedation medication for your loved one even when they are not in pain, and as long as you want to hasten their transition from this life. I would look to Promedica Hospice.
