Matt is obviously well versed in his knowledge of the subject matter and his presentation was well prepared and thought out. Some of the material was a refresher of gun safety guidelines that I had received many years ago and some of it was new, current and relevant to issues involving CCW and self defense as it applies in todays world. After the classroom instruction we went to the range to qualify. Although outdoor range activity in January in Ohio can be challenging, Matt kept the group on point and focused and completed the course with minimal distraction. 9/14/19 Today I've completed Armed Citizen: Every Day Carry (EDC) with Defensive and Tactical…read moreApplications (DTA). This is my 3rd consecutive yr completing this class. Each time, the shoothouse is rearranged to accommodate realistic, every day scenarios for students to complete with role players. This is a force-on-force class using UTM munitions. Today we completed 9 scenarios, anything from getting out of your car, going into a store, or just getting home from work. Each scenario encompassed shoot/no shoot decisions with multiple roleplayers involved. This class takes you out of the "square range" shooting paper targets. UTMs feel like getting stung by a wasp too, so even with multiple layers of clothing, it stings every time you get shot. If an armed citizen truly wants to test their knowledge, situational awareness, and shooting ability, please consider taking force-on-force training at the Muncie Threat Assessment Center (MTAC) or at any similar facility near you. I've trained with Defensive and Tactical Applications (DTA) at MTAC for 3 years. I train with multiple other training companies too. While all companies do an excellent job, DTA is the only training company in Indiana providing this reality-based force-on-force training multiple times each year. The small classroom setting allows for a very intimate and open experience where all members are able to ask questions and talk freely. The classroom setting also offers action stations where trainees can get their hands on a pistol, learn about it, and practice without ever putting live ammunition in it. The course is great for all experience levels and provides so much useful information to make you more comfortable around guns, but more importantly, to make you safe around guns.
