This is a great place to practice your shooting skills. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and more than willing to help if you have questions regarding your firearm. I appreciate the fact that they helped me sight my scope on my AR. You can't beat $30 dollars a month for unlimited shooting. Just bought my first Glock from here. Test fired 2 separate ones, unbelievably the mag kept falling out of the one after firing. I felt like an idiot until they realized it was deflective and reassured me it was the gun and not me. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Didn't let me shoot my AK because I "didn't have a scope on it" and it would "be too innacurate." Didn't even look at the rifle, which was brand new from a higher end brand, or the ammo, which was the same brand purchasable in store. Great selection of firearms/ammo. Sales staff was amazing, asking if we found everything okay and overall great customer service from them. RSO on the other hand not so much. Talking about their drama with previous customers and badmouthing them. Father and I went to shoot our pistols, apparently they had rules that we weren't informed of, and started telling us we need to follow the rules but failed to inform us about them. I understand safety above all else but seems like they sit there to criticize and nitpick. A little on the expensive side of guns/ammo but they need to profit too so I understand why they're a little bit on the high end. If you're looking for a cheap firearm you could definitely get them cheaper elsewhere, but they do have a nice, high quality selection if you have the money to spend. read more

Bought a couple firearms from them several years back and had no issues with the staff. They were pleasant enough, but after a bad experience with a patron in the pistol range, I left for about 6-7 years and didn't come back until recently. Shot both the rifle and pistol range and again, have no issues with the staff. They were pleasant enough...in fact even assisted in getting my rifle re zeroed. Can't say that I'm liking the pistol range though (seems to have gone digital since my last visit). That's a personal preference and not a reflection on the range itself. I just prefer shooting at paper, and taking my targets home with me to study and attempt to improve upon my accuracy. I will go back, but only for the rifle range when I want to reach out more than other indoor ranges allow. read more

Went to purchase a particular gun was told they didn't have it by a young man. Showed the employee an email verifying they did have the gun but it wasn't logged in yet. Employee would not go look for the gun saying there were too many to look through and I would have to come back in a day or two. Went to Vandalia Tactical and purchased the gun and holster. First and last trip to Vandalia Range and Armory. Heard from the owner the next day. He is very customer oriented and seems to be a decent guy. They are VERY particular with their rules but never bother to inform you of such rules. The employees just bark commands. The employee will also come too close into personal space without warning. My husband and I shoot often in a different city we happened to be in town visiting family and was showing my mother how to handle guns for the very first time. Nice indoor pistol range. VR works reasonably well. Staff was not particularly helpful. Went at the end of the day for the last hour; wasn't told that they purposely set their clocks in the range ahead by 10 minutes; would've been nice to know that I was getting cheated out of that when I purchased. RSO took another 10 minutes to explain the basics of using a tablet (for the VR shooting) to a bunch of late-20's kids, burning up more of our shooting time. RSO also would not leave us alone but insisted on constantly critiquing everybody's technique; I didn't go there to have somebody lord their opinions on proper shooting form over me. Also, when I asked for fresh paper (the paper that the VR projects onto is on an electric roller), the RSO refused and said we hadn't put enough holes in it. We were paying $38/hour for 1 lane; I feel like I've paid for enough paper. tl;dr nice setup, rude meddling staff, unethical time errors to cheat you out of range time. read more

Went in to ask about how to transfer firearms to someone else and the guy we asked was an absolute d"ck about it "if you didnt buy it here, its none of our concern" (we actually did) he also said "YOU are not authorized to do that on FFL property" his was a middle aged guy and pretty rude, though his face lit up like Christmas when I bought some of your overpriced ammo. read more

Horrible experience Sold a eotech sight to my brother $500. Had sight 1 month and lens started cracking, range used only always in padded case. They said get with eotech. Eotech said they discontinued that sight 2 years ago. VR&A will do nothing, they had to know this was a discontinued no warranty sight. He's a 100% disabled vet and just doesn't have the energy to deal with it. I hope they feel good taking his money. They won't get any from me or anyone I talk too. read more

Thank you VRA! I do not feel all your staff is this way only those in there 20's early 30's. It's not easy teaching this younger generation good P.R skills. These staff members must understand that there are folks out here who know alot about firearms. I think these young staff members just need to take a step back and listen to the customer, instead of just saying well " you know it all why should I be helping you " then just walk away from a potential sale. First timer to this range. Did my research for local ranges from Miamisburg and found several. This was the establishment I choose. I read the reviews and thought is give it a shot. I was just in to make a good time on my day off The facility is very nice in my opinion. Looks like a large handgun range and the high power range was decent too I myself choose to use a high power rifle. The process from walking in the door was about 10-15 minutes till I picked out my gun and was headed for my assigned lane. I was escorted to the basement range and was meted by the range overseer. He was nice told you the rules and answered any questions you had The digital hit display was a great added touch. Although I think the location of them is a bit off as it makes you stop pull back and then re adjust. If it was closer over in the fire box you wouldn't have to readjust your whole body setup. The high wall was ok but made it hard to stand or lean cause your feet can't go any farther forward The gun selection was nice although the optics are adjustable your not allowed to touch them as they are setup for what ever reason they have them set so your manually moving yourself to adjust Now my only problems with this place There isn't a starting point people stand in line to find out they have to fill out the waivers which isn't at the counter. Then they fill them out and get back in the same line for the rental The girls working the rental counter aren't really nice or personable. They ring you up throw down the receipt and next. Not a thanks or we appreciate your business. All money in my opinion. The other thing I'm not liking is you prepay for everything. Lane rental $18 an hour gun rental (don't remember) and ammo (varies) So if you are done shooting the gun of your choice you have to go back up to the counter you have to re choose a gun the have to re-ring up the gun change fee $10 ( which I'm not a fan of if I'm already paying for the lane rental what makes a difference if I change guns your charging me for the rental) then the new gun rental and the new ammo. 2 charges just to shoot at this point If assume this is costing the company on every swipe of the card. Why not setup the lane track the rentals and Ammo and ring up when your done shooting. I feel if you keep the tab open your customers won't feel when there out of ammo there done. Today 01.31.2018 was my first time visiting this location. I'm used to Point Blank Range in Centerville, OH. There's a bunch of rules that are pretty much common sense and the employees may be a tad bit over zealous about the job. I must say he did educate me, but my friend and I were there to relieve some stress and have a good time enjoying each other's company. I'm not sure if the male employees are previous CCW Class instructors or just very educated about the use of firearms and the importance of handling firearms? But my first experience has quickly morphed into my last visit. We didn't get the chance to enjoy our time at the range. We had way to many interruptions; that exhausted our time allotment. So needless to say that I will remain a loyal patron to Point Blank Range. read more

Made a trip out here because I got a tip they had something in stock that I wanted to look at. Stood around for 15 minutes at the counter before one of the 3 employees standing around bullshitting acknowledged me. Only 1 older guy was working and he was busy helping another customer. Anyway, looked at some pistols but didn't bite because pricing was not good - ended up finding the gun I wanted online for $200 less. Ammo was cheap and range time was cheap for me (not sure if they gave me a discount because of military or not, I didn't ask but it seemed too cheap to be true; 10 bucks for 50 rounds of 9mm and half hour at the range was less than 10 bucks. The only had the "electronic range" up and running which was dimly lit crap and the calibration has to be off because I saw my shots going through paper but not registering on some of the games. Honestly just a big waste of time but the only reason I shot was to try out a rental polymer wonder which I knew I hated within the first 5 shots, so no big loss I guess. Selection of firearms and misc stuff was pretty good - largest store I've been to in the greater Dayton area. I guess if you want to pay full MSRP+tax then go for it, but I'd never use that range again. read more

Went here with my son the other day. I took a accurate pistol I have, but the lighting is so bad my 62 year old eyes could not see the sights clearly. I shot on lane 18 and you needed to use a gun that had night sights. For the $28 an hour they charged me and my son you would think they would have better lighting. Will not go there to shoot again . I previously had some mixed experiences with Vandalia Range and Amory, but today's session was incredible! I decided to take my nephew out for doughnuts and coffee, then a little handgun lesson at the range. We got done with breakfast a lot earlier than I expected, so we headed to the range. We got there a half hour before the posted opening time, but since the parking lot was full, I thought they had opened early because of the holiday (Good Friday.) We checked the door, but it was lock. We started back for the car when the owner opened the door and told us to come on in. He said they had a CCW class, but we were more than welcome to shoot early. He was extremely friendly and welcoming to us. The ladies at the range counter got us setup and we were the first to hit the range. Some of my previous issues with VR&A was the range masters. A couple times in the past, I felt that myself or those in my party were talked down to. I was even chastised once by a range master for doing the vary thing he just told me to do. I clarified exactly what he had said to do, then he grudgingly agreed that he was wrong. I understand completely that these guys are there to keep everyone safe, but they should be kind with the way they approach their customers as well. That being said, today's trip was the complete opposite. I asked the range master to please review the rules for my 15 year old nephew so he knew exactly what was expected of him. He did so in a very kind manner. He even complimented on how well he was shooting for his age. He was very helpful and friendly. I will certainly be back after today's enjoyable trip! read more

I was in town for a couple of days and I wanted to find a place to go and shoot ,after reading many reviews about this location I decided to give it a try. I am glad I stopped in the location was very clean very well-maintained all of the staff that was on duty was very helpful and answered any questions I had. First time visiting this place. I was amazed how much selection of firearms they have. Basically anything you want even hard to find items. Lots of suppressors and a few short barrel rifles too. I used the gun range. Price was outstanding I thought. Several guns to rent and lots of targets to choose from. The staff members I interacted with were polite and not pushy. I felt like the range was safely ran. While I was there a group of people came to use the range. One of them smelled like marijuana and was immediately told to leave which was excellent. I will definitely come back to the range. One gripe I have is their website. Its a very nice looking site and even has a google 360 walk through you can look at of the store. But they have no gun prices on the site. You have to "get quote". Also there's no way to filter results by manufacturer. Other than that like I said its a great store and I will be back. read more

I have purchased many things from his store and have always found them to be helpful and knowledgeable. This last two trips were even more so. I took my son and his friend shooting there and planned to order a Daniel Defense AR. Brennan informed me that actually had the hard to find DD5V1 in stock (7.62 Battle Rifle). He was very well informed on the rifle and made its purchase easy! I returned the next day as I was interested in optics and a sling. While I am an experienced shooter, it is primarily with handguns and hunting rifles - this being my first and long awaited purchase of an AR. Brennan made me feel comfortable with my purchase and when I returned the next day took the time to show how to break down and clean this weapon and some basic operations. He helped me choose an enhanced optic - something else I had never used. He then proceeded to show me how to seat the weapon and how to make sure every time I used the optic sight I had a reference point to do so, a process to follow to put me in proper alignment. He also installed and bore sighted the optics and helped me adjust he single point sling to me and explained to me how it is supposed to fit and why. I also want to mention that Seth on the range is great, worked well with the two teenage boys that were with me and was helpful in pointing out things that improved their performance. As always Alex and Linda were on hand and making sure everyone was being attended to. This is a top notch, service focused and knowledgable Gun Store. I have purchased a few weapons and lots of ammo and cleaning tools among other things here. They have created a customer experience that ensures I am a customer for life. I have been going to VRA since the beginning , I have been around guns since I was a boy and have a lot of firearms knowledge. I know if someone knows what they are talking about and most of the guys at VRA know what they are talking about. They are very attentive and will stay with you and not get annoyed when you ask to see something like other shops do. keep in mind all i have shot is the 25 yard pistol range. i have been there several times and enjoyed each visit i am always greeted with a hello and a smile, i think this maybe the owner. i will be honest the Ladies working the counter at check out make you feel like all they want is your money lol ; but don't let that slow you down the facility is great, clean, neat, bright. they always have 22 LR ammo in stock, witch is important to me. sometimes i'll drop in before work and pick up some ammo and say hi to my friend Mike who is on staff. The range is in good working order. (lights, clean floor, all lanes open) Range officers are friendly I took my ccw class last month and the instructors were amazing i'd suggest anyone wanting to get there ccw to go there. make sure you sigh up ahead of time spots fill up fast. i know it is a 5 star range so i do expect to pay a little more. but I don't agree with the 10$ per gun rental, why not charge 10-15$ for the day seems a bit more reasonable to me. also the "pay by the hour",i know they kinda have to, to make sure everyone gets a chance to shoot but i feel rushed when shooting and a bit stressed, i like to take my time when shooting and not have to worry about watching the clock, witch is why i end up going to Miami Valley Shooting Grounds (they have no time limit on range time) instead of Vandalia Range & Armory at times. Even the their used prices are more than olde english, past gouger mountain, rural king, vances, budsgunshop. FULL MSRP prices. Ive been here 5 or 6 times since they opened. Today was the first in three years. Always $200 to 300 over all the gun shops in the Miami Valley every time Ive compared. One of my brother officers went once to try a rental. He is reloader and got his ass chewed by an employee during a break for collecting the brass from the box he paid. Wish I could change my rating, to NO stars.. They talked my GF into two different optic set ups she didnt care for. The second time we went in, we told them,"Weve looked around, and THIS is the scope she wants..". Was told, "Noo, you dont want THAT, What are you going to use it for. You want this. Im an expert.". Well, she had a 3X set up, that she was unsure of, but told that it was "the set up everyone wanted", she couldnt see with. He insisted that this Viper PST 1-4 would make a difference (We wanted a 3-9). AND talked her into the $189 Vortex Mount. While being RUDE to ME (totally ignored) and made out like I didnt know what the hell I was talking about (Though I TOLD him when we first walked in, "THIS is what we want.."). She shot it twice, and didnt like it. We ended up going to another place, and bought her the scope she wanted to begin with. Shes cut her groups down HALF now. Called them to ask about returning the scope, and they refuse. NOW, I have a $700 set up, that we didnt want to BEGIN WITH, that Im going to have to take a BIG hit, to sell used. Definitely believe the sales guys work off commission.. . Ohh, and them charging us $36 an HOUR to use the rifle range? Yeahh..RIDICULOUS.. Bought a year pass at a nicer outdoor range, for $25 a piece, for a YEAR.. Ill spend the extra money on warmer clothes and stay outdoors. My advice? DO NOT use this shop.
