I have to confess, this is the first church I've attended where I actually feel like I can just come as myself! We've been attending for a few months now. It's a very large church.. def considered a mega church…read more Coming from a small town and a small church, this was a big shock for me at first and honestly a bit uncomfortable. That said, sticking it out has been nice in many ways. They don't have traditional Sunday school. Instead, they offer kids' classes during the main sermon, which is a bit of a bummer for us since we always loved Sunday school growing up. Our two-year-old attends the two-year-old class, and I'm not entirely sure how much Jesus-focused learning happens at that age. My son has gone in with him before and has said they didn't learn much about Jesus but I understand they are only two. One concern I do want to mention is cleanliness. The first time we left our two-year-old there without us, he ended up with hand, foot, and mouth disease. We hadn't been anywhere else prior to that, so we are confident it came from there. I really hope they improve cleaning practices and thoroughly sanitize toys and tabletops after each service. The church services (there are two--one around 9:00 and another at 11:00) are nice and they have a wonderful worship team. The pastor is very personable and they do have paid security and staff. At times, the church can feel more like a business, which I struggle with, as I don't believe church was meant to function that way. However, I did speak with one of the youth teachers who explained that the structure helps place people in areas where they excel. For example, they have a 13-year-old who runs the lighting system during services, which is pretty impressive. They also have a side room available for families during the sermon, which is really helpful if you have a rowdy little one who doesn't want to attend the kids' classes or a baby who needs to be fed or is fussy. The room has a large TV so you can still watch the service without missing anything. Youth group meets on Wednesdays since there isn't Sunday programming for middle schoolers and up. The Wednesday night youth program is really fun and well organized. When the kids arrive, they're given a snack, then there's a short worship time, followed by games with the youth pastor, a brief sermon and small-group discussions with teachers. The kids also receive devotionals. I've spoken with several of the youth teachers and the youth pastor, and they are all great... super friendly, down-to-earth, and very accommodating of my two very different kids. The youth program is def amazing, and it's encouraging to see how many kids attend. They also offer adult groups throughout the week. I haven't attended one yet, but they're meant to help make such a large church feel smaller and more connected. Overall, I'm excited to see my kids grow in their faith and fall in love with Jesus, and I hope others will give this church a try. They are very inviting, welcoming, joyful, spirited, and accepting. I tried the Catholic Church, and what a difference. God bless all of you.

This small community church in Davenport, WA, has solid Bible teaching, lots of programs for…read morechildren such as AWANA and a good youth group for teens and pre-teens. On Sunday we have adult Sunday School as well as the kids' Sunday School. We have women's and men's retreats and fellowship. I love Pastor Steve McLachlan's sermons; they are thought provoking and convicting without being condemning. Best church I've ever attended and I've been a Christian for over 30 years.

I'd like to give you an honest review about the heart…read more Broadly and specifically ---------- This is based on the consensus of my friend and I And we are both members of the church Myself more loosely because I have another home church instead that is my main church But here is the review based on our consensus and agreed viewpoint ----------- The heart is all about their selves When you ask Seth to pray for you he tells you I am in a hurry or I'll be back... But never come back Don't really like that church any more Ya they are more of a franchise than a church And that's sad how that is... That it's become like that They sometimes run the risk of falling into ... talking a big game but they have regrettably become like lot of the other churches A lot of churches nowadays do this even, if they don't keep Sunday or if they do keep Sunday Real life is the same way They are like that as well they're more or less not necessarily always being cognizant enough and remembering to be concerned about their members of their congregation Not that they don't, but they sometimes like the ability to be interpersonal as much as they used to be when they had smaller congregations They are more there to preach and continue business as usual elsewhere They have so much wrapped up in their ministry, that they don't take as much time for people personally even if they have a multiple small groups and other things and the pastor or pastors usually armor the preacher instead of a servant as well And It's understandable to get a congregation so big and have so much going on that you lose the ability to maintain those kind of things fully... But you cannot lose sight of all of that together And I feel like they both have been falling into this trap Because the devil can work with churches being so distracted and so spread out that it seems like they're doing a good work but they're not being as interpersonal and direct But they are more broadly a business instead of a church More doing a work instead of having members... It seems And plus there's so many people but join the congregations like these that sometimes... after a while... that if you're congregation gets big enough you can't just do damage control Which means you don't have time for everybody And your spread so thin as a pastor either a head pastor or even one of the delegate pastors And this raises a bigger issue as well similar to it I believe churches like these need to have different head pastors at individual locations as well as head pastors and head delegate pastors at each and every location especially if they branch out to more locations The heart has one head pastor and that is Seth who has now become the new head pastor since his father has stepped down from that position for retirement and has now taking up other rolls inside the church And I'm sure that Seth's father had previously known this line of work long enough that he understood that dynamic and that it's easy to fall into that.... Especially being the only head pastor And it's sad because sometimes you almost have to have less people in your congregation or more head pastors and head delegates and then delegates under that But that's why they delegate sometimes because they have so many people And the problem with delegation sometimes... Is that there can be too much delegation.... Meaning that even the pastors and other pastors and side pastors are spread so thin that there's a great lack of interpersonal one-on-one or even semi one-on-one with congregation members The groups are meant to be like this But even then it's more of a come and go Instead of a..."You're here as a member and you are equal to everybody" Instead you're equal to everyone in a different capacity Your equal because you're all people that come to a church And less an actual member They have different pastors instead of the one or two or five pastors So if they had more head pastors and more of a how they do it one location they have the same thing at different locations instead of a Head pastor that oversees every church Each location should have a head that is in charge of specific locations and then you can have one that is head over everything Because there needs to be more interpersonal relationship with your congregation It doesn't matter if you're a head elder a pastor a elder or a delegate of any kind .... If you are leaving your congregation behind a little bit and just serving in group settings and meetings and other things That's not interpersonal relationships That's a business ------------ And I understand the ins and outs of church running I'm not perfect at it but I understand what it takes within reason And it's hard to find the time and people to do things like this And it's really easy to delegate practically into oblivion And into less partnership with your congregation And more just You're " a " pastor -m

Sonrise church is truly unique in that you instantly feel like family as soon as you walk through…read morethe front door. It is a delightful, Spirit-filled, little cozy church with a congregation that love one another and most importantly love & honor God. Then to top it off, as if all of this isn't enough, they serve a free lunch after the service. They have people that travel in to Wilbur from many of the neighboring little towns that are anywhere from 5-50 miles aways. So the meal not only feed the physical needs of needing to eat, but also gives everyone a chance to visit and get to know one another. You will be pleasantly surprise at Wilbur's Sonrise church! Sunday service starts at 10:30

I happened upon this church rather on accident. I'm not a religious person, I was just going for…read morean extensive walk around Spokane and stumbled upon this magnificent old-world-style cathedral. Great for taking pictures if you are even the least bit into photography. I wasn't aware of the tours so I didn't get to see the interior. I was very much impressed with the exterior, however.
