Awesome place. I went for a youth night and it and it was absolutely amazing! A little small but personally don't care.

I'd like to give you an honest review about the heart Broadly and specifically ---------- This is based on the consensus of my friend and I And we are both members of the church Myself more loosely because I have another home church instead that is my main church But here is the review based on our consensus and agreed viewpoint ----------- The heart is all about their selves When you ask Seth to pray for you he tells you I am in a hurry or I'll be back... But never come back Don't really like that church any more Ya they are more of a franchise than a church And that's sad how that is... That it's become like that They sometimes run the risk of falling into ... talking a big game but they have regrettably become like lot of the other churches A lot of churches nowadays do this even, if they don't keep Sunday or if they do keep Sunday Real life is the same way They are like that as well they're more or less not necessarily always being cognizant enough and remembering to be concerned about their members of their congregation Not that they don't, but they sometimes like the ability to be interpersonal as much as they used to be when they had smaller congregations They are more there to preach and continue business as usual elsewhere They have so much wrapped up in their ministry, that they don't take as much time for people personally even if they have a multiple small groups and other things and the pastor or pastors usually armor the preacher instead of a servant as well And It's understandable to get a congregation so big and have so much going on that you lose the ability to maintain those kind of things fully... But you cannot lose sight of all of that together And I feel like they both have been falling into this trap Because the devil can work with churches being so distracted and so spread out that it seems like they're doing a good work but they're not being as interpersonal and direct But they are more broadly a business instead of a church More doing a work instead of having members... It seems And plus there's so many people but join the congregations like these that sometimes... after a while... that if you're congregation gets big enough you can't just do damage control Which means you don't have time for everybody And your spread so thin as a pastor either a head pastor or even one of the delegate pastors And this raises a bigger issue as well similar to it I believe churches like these need to have different head pastors at individual locations as well as head pastors and head delegate pastors at each and every location especially if they branch out to more locations The heart has one head pastor and that is Seth who has now become the new head pastor since his father has stepped down from that position for retirement and has now taking up other rolls inside the church And I'm sure that Seth's father had previously known this line of work long enough that he understood that dynamic and that it's easy to fall into that.... Especially being the only head pastor And it's sad because sometimes you almost have to have less people in your congregation or more head pastors and head delegates and then delegates under that But that's why they delegate sometimes because they have so many people And the problem with delegation sometimes... Is that there can be too much delegation.... Meaning that even the pastors and other pastors and side pastors are spread so thin that there's a great lack of interpersonal one-on-one or even semi one-on-one with congregation members The groups are meant to be like this But even then it's more of a come and go Instead of a..."You're here as a member and you are equal to everybody" Instead you're equal to everyone in a different capacity Your equal because you're all people that come to a church And less an actual member They have different pastors instead of the one or two or five pastors So if they had more head pastors and more of a how they do it one location they have the same thing at different locations instead of a Head pastor that oversees every church Each location should have a head that is in charge of specific locations and then you can have one that is head over everything Because there needs to be more interpersonal relationship with your congregation It doesn't matter if you're a head elder a pastor a elder or a delegate of any kind .... If you are leaving your congregation behind a little bit and just serving in group settings and meetings and other things That's not interpersonal relationships That's a business ------------ And I understand the ins and outs of church running I'm not perfect at it but I understand what it takes within reason And it's hard to find the time and people to do things like this And it's really easy to delegate practically into oblivion And into less partnership with your congregation And more just You're " a " pastor -m read more

I visited from out of town and selected HOTCC from Yelp reviews. That was a lucky call. It was one of the most engaging & moving church experiences I've had. If you are looking for a church family I would highly recommend it. The music was fabulous and every speaker as good as the one before. Apparently, they have a deep well of both musicians and pastors and it translates into a beautifully God connected service with many Bible references. I wish I lived in the neighborhood and could attend some of their other weekly events. It's a truly blessed church and it was a privilege to worship with them. read more

We LOVE Heart of the City! My family (wife and two kids) and I just moved to CDA 6 months ago from Tennessee and we are so thankful we found Heart of the City a week after moving here. The Heart was the first and only church we visited. I looked up several churches in the area online, pulled up recorded services, read their beliefs that were posted etc... and to be honest my heart broke. From what I could see The community at the Heart were the only ones that believed or publicly promoted in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and that the gifts of the Holy Spirit (like healing and prophecy) are still for today(I'm sure there are other church bodies who believe, I just couldn't find them). I'm a former atheist and it was the power of God that completely changed everything for me years ago. From the moment we walked in the door we felt like we found home. Our experience from the first day: The team in kids ministry were amazing! They took the time to get us registered and walked us to our daughters first class(that was a big deal being in a new place). The attention to detail and compassion was so appreciated and genuine. Worship was off the hook, we were blown away by the JOY and FREEDOM in the room, Holy Spirit was present and the team at the Heart are doing a great job stewarding His presence! I appreciate that the Pastors on staff do not have a goal to tickle ears but instead preach the Word of God in its entirety and not just the popular topics, but the hard ones too. Every week we pray corporately for different churches in North Idaho and life up the other Pastors by name. The culture here truly does have a heart for this city. Since attending the Heart we have found wonderful people to do life with here in CDA. We found community by plugging into a small group as a family every other week. My wife attends a mom's connect group once a week with our 3 year old son and we both had a blast attending the annual retreats (men's camp for the dudes and a women's retreat for the ladies). We are looking forward to serving on a team soon and getting to know more of the great people at the Heart. I hope this review helps those that are seeking to find a body of believers who desire to know God and find freedom. Come as you are, you won't find a religious spirit here. Hope to meet you soon! I really dislike leaving a negative review for any church, and this is the first time I've ever actually reviewed a church at all. I've been a Christian for several years now and I am not exactly sure what I just experienced at "freedom night". I didn't realize it was a special service, and just came to check it out. The people were friendly enough, but the pastor spoke a lot about prophesies, and the worship team didn't sing ONE single song. They just kept repeating 2-3 lines of various songs, and coming back to the first they sang. I think the words "I take off this spirit of heaviness and put on a garment of praise" was said somewhere in the range of 40-50 times. A man came on stage with the worship team and was waving big orange flags like a majorette. Then he and a woman, both waving flags. It was such a bizarre experience. I left 40 minutes in... I would normally never leave a service! I'm not sure what's up with the start times... 606. 909. 1111. And their website says nothing about what they believe or what their values are. If you prefer false teachings from the Bible, pre-conceived "prophecy" night (Freedom Night) that closely resembles fortune telling, & if you LOVE unforgiveness & judgement/conviction from these pharisees, then this is the "church" for you. Not all the people in this institution are phony, but after attending this place for long enough (9 months), I've determined this is a racket ran by a family of christian phonies. I pray that the people seeking Salvation are truly saved at this place (I have many doubts) and I say a daily prayer for all of the lost souls searching for a real relationship with Jesus who sadly attend this church with very dramatic and "spirit conjuring" music session they call "worship". This is a family ran church and you can tell as soon as you get comfortable - its all about them (not Jesus). In the beginning of their "service" they like to welcome all the new guests into the "family" as they are simultaneously placing the little black BUCKETS around the Sanctuary for your "giving". This is not a church FAMILY, this is another false church spreading ridiculous "prochepcies" and begging for your hard earned cash so that the preachers wife can maintain her "luxurious" lifestyle. The sermon or "preaching" is lacking in so many ways, this is a disservice to the confused and lost souls seeking a relationship with Jesus. The music lyrics are about Jesus but it feels more like spirit conjuring worship & can last over an hour, then the "message" is about 15-20 minutes long. I kept waiting to hear more from the Bible, more lessons from God's Word, but I always seemed to leave this place wanting more. The congregation is mostly filled with little cliques they call Bible Study Groups but trust me, if you're an outsider, you stay an outsider unless you have a large wallet. This is not a place that I would ever consider my HOME CHURCH. Be warned & keep searching & praying that God will lead you to the right & REAL Jesus preaching, loving church full of real people whose true pupose is to serve our amazing and wonderful God. I wandered into their service in the park last Sunday while on vacation and enjoyed it. It truly seemed to be a church with a heart for the city. The park was full, people wondering by (like me) were warmly welcomed and invited to sit and enjoy. Great worship with people of all ages using flags and banners to to celebrate. Teaching was excellent, biblical and easy to follow. Afterward they fed anyone and everyone in the park. During the festivities, (lunch, dessert auction, volleyball) I found the pastor and had a wonderful chat about the people and the area. He was very available and gracious. If I lived in the area I would check out this church. The people are joyful! read more

Pastor wrongly teaches the Bible and doesn't clearly relay the gospel that saves. He tells people to repeat a prayer with him talking about asking Jesus into your heart and making him lord over your life and confessing your sins. This is not the message that saves. Paul makes it very clear that the gospel is Christ's death, burial and resurrection (1 Cor. 15:1-4). When you believe and put your trust in Christ's finished work on the cross you're baptized by the Holy Ghost into the new creature (the body of Christ) as well as the Holy Ghost making a home in you. If he's not teaching this than he's preaching a different gospel and I question if they're really saved. We are also not required to confess our sins or be water baptized. These are things believing Israel was required to do to obtain their new covenant. This pastor also teaches "tithes and offerings" which is wrong. Tithing was part of Israel's instructions under their covenant and law that they agreed to. We are not part of the nation Israel, and we were never in a covenant with God let alone agreed to it. Tithing was part of their law. To teach tithing as a requirement for us today makes you either ignorant or a liar. Both of which are unworthy of the vocation by which we are called. Instead Paul (our apostle) tells us to give as we've purposed in our hearts. This means give or don't give. If you give then give whatever amount you want. It's up to you to decide. read more

just started going earlier this year, sorry I did not start sooner. this church is more like a very large family home, everyone is welcome with open arms and is part of the family. pastor JO AND CREW are unsurpassed in passion and excitement .I was in a downward trend mind and health wise, and in the short time I have been a family member (cause that's what you are) they have prayed with me and my family , and I can tell you I am heading up and loving life. Add the work the church does in the community the only word that comes to mind is love . Can't wait for new campus to see how many people we can get in.
