Mustang on the side of the road

Came here on New Year's Eve for a nice little hike to finish off the year. It has a decent sized parking lot with a bathroom available. The trail isn't really well marked but it does have some pretty red rock views. There are also a few picnic areas with grills (bring charcoal). The area itself is pretty rural with less traffic than other parts of Lake Mead. We actually passed 3 wild mustangs literally on the side of the road which is the closest I've ever seen them. Overall, I really recommend this for a quick little outdoor adventure. There are a couple more hikes nearby too, if you want to spend even more time outdoors. This is a fee area though so be prepared.

Loved this gorgeous little outcropping of red rocks in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The trail is short but there's so much more to explore other than the trail. Just be mindful that you'll have no cell service out there.

What a cool find we had today! This place is just an hour away from the city and is worth the trip. You'll know your there as you start seeing the bright red definitely something to see great views and photo opportunities. There are tables for if you want to take a seat or have a snack or even lunch (I did notice a grill ). The weather was perfect sunny but not crazy hot saw a couple of lizards. Definitely take comfy shoes and fresh clothes and unfortunately there was alot of HUGE flys at the entrance by the trash and its like the followed us thru out the trail but hey I guess part of the nature experience. Definitely will explore more trails around this area ,the lake mead week pass was $25 but you also have the option to get a yearly pass for $40 if you want to explore the different trails and bays.

This was my favorite hike in Lake Mead National Park. There is a parking lot but, slow down when you get close because we almost missed the turn off. The trail will start out being well worn in to sort of choose your own adventure style. We didn't do the entire loop but, we hiked up to the higher rock formations, took pictures, enjoyed the view and met an awesome family that is traveling the country and homeschooling their kids for a year. The rock formations are beautiful and it's very easy to climb up on areas at the beginning of the trail. Climb up and look towards the parking lot area to take in the mountain and valley views. It's absolutely breathtaking. Make sure you are paying attention on the trial because there is critters of all shapes and sizes. Bug spray is a really good idea and don't stick your finger into any dark holes or cracks. This area is dog friendly and I would recommend tennis shoes at the very least and please make sure you bring enough water because there isn't any water access provided here. There are also picnic areas with covered tables and garbage cans. Make sure you pick up after yourself.

This spot is one of my favorite. The serenity and aesthetics are breathtaking. If you explore a bit, you will be pleasantly surprised by the tranquil spots you will discover.

Located in Lake Mead National Park. We came here today to hike on a beautiful day. The area is between gray and brown mountains in the Pinto Valley Wilderness. The abundance of huge red rocks is off Northshore Road at mile marker 27 in the Overton Arm. Redstone features sandstone, limestone, volcanic rock, and a half-mile trail that features more than 200 million years of geology that's waiting to be discovered by more tourists and locals :) The flame-red rocks offer a stunning view while hiking or just following the easy trail around the red rocks. It is easily reach as you park on the parking lot of Redstone picnic area. It is only 1.1 easy miles but you can scramble and explore and spent hours there. Similar to the Geology in Valley of Fire, this place is my playground. Make sure you take plenty of water! And sunscreen and wear a hat. Follow the Park's rule and explore.
