The food is classed as pan asian which is great as I love all asian food. However, the sushi, although very good, I feel it is slightly overpriced for what you get. The duck, especially at lunch, is amazing value though. Plenty for 2 to share. This is definitely a place to try out if you love asian food.

My first visit to Sakana and I was pleasantly surprised at how its interior looked (more so the delicious smells wafting over as you passed by their open kitchen). We were seated in a corner with decent views of the goings-on, and set about conquering the menu - the group was almost military in its tactics, dividing the menu's sections between ourselves to make sure we got to sample lots of different dishes. Three of us ordered a bottle of their house red (a Merlot) which was actually quite good - a bit on the peppery side but I really liked it. The food started to arrive after a bit of a wait, but we'd had some prawn crackers to whet our appetite. The sashimi platter that I ordered for us all to share was a bit disappointing (usual price £28 for 15 pieces). I can't think of anything else that was particularly underwhelming; the combo of orders was all rather good - but the highlights for me were the Taiwanese buns which you could have with shredded duck or pork belly (we ordered both). These were absolutely heavenly, for want of a better word. Service was friendly, if not a tad haphazard at times; it's definitely somewhere to consider for date night. That being said, you'd have to be happy 'flashing the cash' as I don't think it's worth the full price they'd ordinarily be charging diners.

Or perhaps they don't need to and it is just a play pet project for the owners who also own Seamark (the building next door) Hulme is not a nice area and it really is an odd place to have a restuarant such as this, bit out the way and not a place I recommend for a nice stroll. The decor is great and they spent millions of pounds designing it, so you will certainly be in awe of the place. However the food is not so grand. It is by no means bad but come on!!!!! This is Manchester and as fellow yelpers would testify there is a massive choice for diners and to be honest when it comes to food alone this place falls short of a few places I can think of. As I said the food is ok, and the place is well worth checking out once, but will you return there on a regular basis?? I think not. Oh, and I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to make this brochure that you can pick up on your way out, but it did make me cringe. Awful design and a blatantly staged picture with a rather lairy looking Ryan Giggs with an accompanying caption which read "regular customers" made me just think "school boy error!!!!!!!!" So perhaps its not so much the place, which is great, nor the food, which is not bad. It's just.... it seems the owner put a lot of time, effort and money into the place and left it for a bunch of monkeys to run... But hey I took me madre here on her birthday and she loved it. The ambiance of the place. So much so she didn't really care what the food was like. I imagine that sentiment is echoed quite alot..... So 3*s is about right me thinks...A-ok indeed fellow yelpeeps.. Yelp ya later aligator..

We booked the 30% off in January deal and rocked up not knowing what to expect. It's in a lovely (but expensive) part of the city and walking in you could see it would be lavish. The lighting was dim but good and we got a little confused as there was nobody waiting at the sorry, so we went upstairs and to the bar and checked in and quickly got seated. The chair and booth was so soft and comfy I sank into it and felt like I was gonna sink forever ... but I survived and it was comfy. The place setting was so much fancier than I was used to and it oozed posh. We quickly got served and the server was lovely and helpful and the restaurant was just lovely. When we got our food (decided in just a main and later desert as we planned for later tacos) and oh my god .. the ribeye was the best steak I've ever had. It was so tender and juicy and cooked to perfection and the thick cut chips were brilliant. I just got a single small glass of red (which was more than I usually pay for a bottle ) and was just lovely. The desert came later and my god that was equally as good. The bill was £80 for 2 of us but with the 30% off went down to £60 which was cheaper than other places we've been to but only with the money off. Would I go again as a date or treat? ... Absolutely

It can be accessed via a secluded staircase inside Austalasia, this unique cocktail bar evokes the atmosphere of a luxury Pacific beach hideaway with smart colonial style decor in cream and white, a long bar, and a secret tropical garden. With exquisite cocktails as its main focus. The menu is the same as Australasia so you can expect some mouth watering sushi and desserts here. The whole place screams class and panache from every corner. This bar is definitely very unique and reminds me a lot of classy cocktail bars in London or New York. The pricing definitely is very high end as you would imagine and you need to put on some swanky clothes to feel not so out of place here. I can vouch that the food is delicious and so are the cocktails, but that you can find in a lot of other places too so this one you need to visit purely for the ambiance and the whole experience. Verdict : Great place to visit when you want to feel special!

I must point out that I was only there in the first place because Ange promised me lunch, and she only wanted to go because she had been given some vouchers for John Lewis and needed some make-up. At lunch time we wandered around the Orient perusing the menus, and opted to try Rice because they had a good choice on offer. I went for the Malaysian Chilli Chicken, and Ange for the Thai Chicken Krapao (Much school boy laughter from me). I ordered a bottle of Peroni whilst Ange asked for a glass of cucumber water, the waitress walked off and came back and told Ange that they were out of cucumber,so ange asked for half a pint of Tiger Beer, only to be told that they no loger have beer on tap, only bottles. My food was nice, not spectacular, just nice, nice rice, nice chicken and a nice amount of spice. Ange on the other hand took a couple of mouthfuls before realising that the dish was supposed to contain chicken and mince, hers was only chicken. When she ordered it the waiter told her it was spicy, only it wasn't spicy at all. She decided to not bother with the mince but asked a waitress if she could have some chilli sauce, she went off to get some and we didn't see her again! Although we both kind of enjoyed the food,at £30 for the two of us it was a bit steep for what we got,a main and a beer each. We left feeling like we should've gone elsewhere.Probaby Wokooshi accross the way... On the way out we were given a loyalty card, but told it can't be used there, only at the Piccadilly Gardens branch, thanks for that..... Not only that, but we had dragged our posteriors all the way over to the Trafford Centre only to find that John Lewis doesn't stock the make-up Ange wanted, just another reason why for food and for shopping you can't beat the City centre.

A dream so profound it inspired him to embark on a journey which resulted in the formation of one of my favorite eateries in Manchester. My love for Rice Flame bar and grill and its delightful range of dishes was firmly established way before I featured them in a publication I previously worked for. This place is nothing but a celebration of the fact that rice is the staple diet of billions all over the globe. Whilst places like Tampopo and Wagamama amongst others celebrate cuisine of a similar persuasion, Rice competes admirably. The food is of the highest standard as demonstrated by the volume of my check ins. Chicken Katsu curry, Jamaican jerk chicken and the Pad Thai are amongst my favorite foodie ventures which never fail to disappoint. The staff are knowledgeable enough to recommend dishes to those not familiar with the variety on offer, and I've always found them to be well receptive of your needs. It is no wonder thus that I've found every branch is well occupied most nights. The success has garnered demand which sees more Franchises popping up slowly but surely all over this lovely Island of ours. The more the merrier I say because Rice is very much here to stay
