That position is a newly transplanted University student, with a limited budget and lack of desire to spend my days here trolling Gumtree for a deal on a used bike. With all that said, I went in here and got exactly what I wanted, for a pretty good price, with almost no hassle, and a few extras thrown in to boot. I got a 'fixie' or fixed gear bike, for about $350, which came with a lock, some lights, and a water bottle and some servicing I think. Anyway, it's been a fantastic bike so far, and it was nice that they threw in all the extras, even if they weren't the best quality. So if you're looking for a bike to get you around town and don't want to spend $1000, I'd give Reid's a look, they have all different styles of bikes, and the prices are pretty solid.

So I ordered one in store, with the package of bike pumps, helmet and a whole host of other bits and pieces. My very first bike!! I was excited. Plus 3 years servicing. I was advised that my bike would be ready within 10 business days as they didn't have the colour I wanted in store. Sure, no problem I say. They advise they will call me to let me know when it's ready. So I paid and off I went. Day 8: I call them to check that my bike will be ready to pick up that weekend as I hadn't heard anything from them. They put me on hold as they can't find my paperwork. The guy gets back on the phone and says yes, absolutely, it should be ready by Saturday which is day 10. I request a call back just to confirm that this is the case so I don't waste my time coming in if it's not ready. He advises that it's marked to get a call when it's ready for collection. Day 11: I call and leave a message as no one was answering the phone in the morning. By midday I had no response so sent an email as well requesting a call as per my voice mail message that morning. By 3pm I hadn't gotten a call back so decided to call them again. Finally got through to someone who couldn't find my paperwork and put me on hold again. He came back on the phone to advise that my bike hadn't been set up because my paperwork had been overlooked. Great. So even after I called a few days before it was due to be picked up as per your company's 10 business day turn around quote, you still haven't gotten it ready. I get an apology from person on phone, I realise it's not his fault however am having trouble containing my frustration. He advises that he will see what he can do and call me back. 3pm same day he calls me back and advises that it's ready for pick up. I advise that it isn't really helpful as it's a Sunday afternoon and I'm busy out of town with family. I had set aside time the day before when it was meant to be due to be picked up to get this done. I advise that I can't get back into the store until the following weekend as I have no time during the week. By this stage I'm feeling like I've just handed over $400 to a company to screw me around and offer me no customer service what-so-ever. So I go in the following Saturday to pick up my bike. They wheel it out and it doesn't have the studded seat as per my order. They apologise and take it away to fix. They bring it back out again and hand it over. I was advised when I was looking at the bike that they would get me to sit on it so that it can be adjusted to my height. There was no adjusting. There was no looking at anything. I was handed the bike and the guy spun on his heels and walked away without a word. Suffice to say that I wasn't really happy with the service to date so I sent an email the following week in regards to my experience and how poorly it was handled. To this day I still haven't gotten a response from management or the store. So if you're after a bike? Go somewhere else. I'm gutted that I have to use these people for servicing for the next 3 years as it is. Apart from that the bike works well. Pity about the actual non-existent customer service though.

I had my hybrid bicycle taken in for maintenance and the mechanic did a phenomenal job. While the mechanics at Inner City Cycles are very talented and professional, the customer service in the front the shop is appalling. I came back a week after having my bike repaired just to pump a flat tire. When I asked if this could be done, I was rudely directed to pump it myself. Just as I was leaving the store, I was unexpectedly stopped by an employee and charged $5. I pumped MY OWN tire with AIR and was charged for this? I found this unacceptable, especially since I had that same bicycle repaired at the store a week earlier. It's unfortunate that the excellent mechanical service isn't reflected in the customer service.

I went in to look at my options for a reliable and 'pretty' street bike with a few trimmings like baby seat, bike lock, helmet x 2 (one for the little one too) and a basket. I came out with an 'eco' bike with all the trimmings I wanted at a price just above what I expected to pay. Sherryn helped me out no end and I felt like I made a new friend. She was not salesy at all and knew her stuff, answering all my questions - and there were many. She was also very patient with my 10 month old daughter who was grizzly after a big day out and didn't want to try on heavy helmets. She was also patient with me as I took forever to decide between the pink and the green striped number (a gals gotta match her bike!) Sherryn organized for the team to fix the baby seat, basket and stand as well as deliver to my home free of charge within a few days of my store visit. Will, the ultra friendly Scottish lad who delivered my bike also showed me how to take the baby seat on and off. I can not recommend the women's Clarence Street Cyclery enough. P.S. the Eco Trek bike is made from recycled, locally or sustainably sourced materials and it is very nice to ride indeed.

Centennial Park Cycles offer people a wonderful opportunity to get back on a bike and enjoy... For those wanting to enjoy Centenial park, they actually have bikes to hire on the grounds. They are of good quality and there are different styles and sizes depending on your requirements. Bikes cost between $15 - $35 an hour.... and if you're feeling a little daggy why not get the Tandem bike ($25 and hour) or a 2 person pedal car ($35 an hour)

The provide helmets and rechargeable lights. The location is easy to get to and centrally located. The first day is expensive but long term rentals are very cheap. Anyway Cheeky Bikes has great baskets and their prices are really reasonable (I can get exactly what I need for $25 and it is a steel mesh basket). They also have some clever innovative items like a takeout basket, which comes with an insulated cooler bag all for $90 (very reasonable). Also Cheeky Transport offers hand built bikes made by the store's owner, they look great, if you are a serious cyclist or want a really stylish bike, they are an excellent option. And they sell a whole range of cargo bikes. The shop has all the bike accessories one could want and the staff are friendly and helpful, this may be the best bike shop I've seen yet.
