Yea they are overpriced, that's retail. They don't have the "no AC" warehouse online dealers have. Online dealers won't have what you need right now. As far as live stock..... I've been Reefing for 20+ years. It's always best to put your eyes on a fish or coral. It's rolling the dice when you get It off the net. i received fresh water instead of Salt Water from the staff, I called to inform Bill the owner of this mistake which cost me an Anoneme after i did a water change. He said I should have noticed it was fresh water so I told him I bought it for my fish to drink not me. He took no responsibilty over a mistake that would have cost me my fish. Of course I noticed something wrong after a few hours of the water not clearing up but how dare he blame the customer for his staff's actions. Super selection of coral and fish. Prices being what they are, give it some time and all the prices will go up. A great place to find something now that you can not find anywhere else. Easy to spend an hour or two looking at coral. read more

My husband and I recently discovered this store, and we are so happy we did! We have had three visits so far, and this will be the ONLY store at which we shop going forward. They are friendly, down to earth, VERY knowledgeable, and patient. We do not feel as though they are just trying to make a sale, and their advice so far has been very honest and respectful. I called today (Monday) for advice and they answered the phone even though they were not open, which I didn't know at the time. I was so impressed to have been provided assistance after hours, and I know I would not find that level of customer service anywhere else! This is an excellent and clean store. The staff is very helpful and far from snobby. If it takes them a while to get to you it is typically because they are busy helping someone and sharing knowledge. A lot goes in to a coral/fish purchase and its worth being patient. We were treated kindly and given a wealth of tips for good reef keeping. The coral prices are top notch. read more

I trust anything I buy from Bill. He is honest and is very passionate about marine life. I have never had a fish die that I bought from him. He keeps them for at least a week to make sure they are healthy and disease free. I have had him tell me I can't buy a fish that he felt he needed to monitor more before selling it. It does seem he charges more than other LFS for corals however if you look at the size of the items it is comparable. I actually saved money on a star polyp bought from him compared to one for sale at another local store. He is just now starting to sell frags at good prices as well. He also runs sales quite often on holiday weekends and if you buy from him often he will let some things go a bit cheaper. Thanks Bill for always being honest with me. :-) read more

beautiful store with well cared for and loved fish. Bill knows his stuff for sure and was able to help us add some wonderful additions to our tank. There is a much wider fish variety then other stores around us. It is a saltwater aquarium store. I do not feel that the prices are bad. many fish are the same price as other stores. The coral is a bit more pricey, but it is also much larger and better established which raises the price any where. read more

Knowledgable staff, but definitely an expensive store. Livestock is fed 3-times a day, one claim as to why the livestock is so expensive, but that level of feeding isn't necessary. Fish and coral seem to be 50% or 100% more in cost than other places. Livestock look healthy minus a few fish with aggressive-fish-based damage. Dry good selection is not good - old or outdated products for the most part. It's a bit out of my way, so I haven't been often. Would go again when in the area though. I don't even understand what happened. I called and said I have a saltwater tank that needs cleaned and a 20% water replacement, which is typical saltwater aquarium maintenance. There was a fee just to drive to my house. When the guy arrived, he had in his hands 3 small cleaning utensils. I expected him to come with equipment for siphoning out the old water and with tubs of new water to add to the tank as well as testing equipment to make certain the tank was healthy. He ended up using the supplies I had on hand. He didn't have saltwater with him and didn't know how to even top off the tank properly, and now the salinity is too high and could hurt the fish. Not only was the service terrible and not at all what I asked for, but I honestly don't think the guy has any idea what he's doing. read more

Large selection of livestock but prices are around double of what you would expect to pay in a typical store. Owner is somewhat rude and quite pushy. Not an overly impressive selection on dry goods. There are much better reef stores in both Cary and Raleigh with more helpful staff. read more
