Dr. Jacobawitz just recently opened this practice in Centerville…read more After struggling with finding a general practitioner to assist with perscription management after being diagnosed with ADD, I was relieved to find Dr. Jacobawitz. After my first Dr had moved too far away, I have never felt like I was being listened to at any other practice, but here I was given total attention and the full allotment of my paid time. Dr. Jacobawitz is thurough when needed while understanding the importance of brevity on other topics. To the point without sacrificing empathy, willing to share his own thoughts without expecting you to automatically agree. After my first meeting I was releived to have finally found a provider that seems to take pride in their work and truly strive to put the best interests of patients first.

Worst mental health evaluation I have ever received. Where to start? This was back in 2018 and it…read morestill gets my goat. Upon entry to the facility, I was greeted and sat by Norm the NP, only to be immediately left by myself in his office (probably instructed to fill out some forms or BS survey for quick evaluation--as many mental health professionals tend to love to dole out). Shortly thereafter, I was joined in the room by some grad student (still no licensed professional present - Where had NP Jacobowitz gone?) who promptly asked for my life story regarding my mental health history, including very personal details. First of all, I was never asked for consent for a student to sit in--much less sit in, ALONE, without a professional present--so I guess that's on me for not questioning it at the time. Second, how could the professional himself expect to evaluate a patient to whom he'd not yet spoken? It makes no sense. Once lady grad student was done taking down my personal history, Jacobowitz returned to the room to "diagnose" me and offer advice. Advice included drastically altering my then-current medications, encouraging me to be selfish, making me feel like my employer (with whom I held a personal relationship) cared nothing for me, judging my lifestyle, and overall causing me extreme discomfort. I have no idea where the positive reviews prior to mine came from, but I was fooled into seeing this guy after many years of fear caused by similarly heinous psychiatric appointments with ACTUAL doctors. If you've been through this routine, you undoubtedly know how scary it can be to entrust a brand new person with such extremely sensitive and personal aspects of your life. As soon as I left the building I burst into tears. Pretty sure that's a bad sign.

Tim Humphrey is a compassionate therapist who made it easier to open up during a difficult time,…read moreoften using humor to help. He challenged my fears in a supportive way and helped me take real action to improve my life. For example, he encouraged me to start volunteering, which built my social and professional skills. He also gave me practical ADHD strategies that truly helped in my day-to-day life. I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for honest, supportive guidance. He will not let you run away from your problems, but instead helps you face them directly. He offers recommendations, but also makes it clear that real change happens when you do the work outside of therapy. that leads to lasting improvement in your life. If you struggle with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression or abandoment issues Tim is the one for you! Please Note: As many people have commented that the front desk is not easy to get a hold of, and it seems they are understaffed. Phones are not always answered and my questions are left unanswered. There have also been a few scheduling issues in the past, and it appears that only non front deck people: Tim, Pual, Hannah and Mariah has been able to resolve them.

I reached out to McLean Counseling Center to request an appointment for disability documentation…read moreguidelines so I could receive accommodations for college. I have received accommodations before in college and provided my previous documentation. The response I received from Farah Assefnia, who works there as administrative office, was very brief, rude, and dismissive -- saying that they don't participate in that kind of service. When I followed up to ask if they have an age limit or don't serve adults, she simply said there is no age limit, however, they won't be able to provide documentation for college accommodations. Farah treated me poorly. Their website mentions "Support Services & Accommodations," so this was very unclear and disappointing. It was never specified if they specialize in accommodations for workplace, college students, high school students, middle school students, or elementary school students. I felt discriminated, disrespected, and dismissed. If they don't offer this service, a polite explanation and a referral to another clinic who has experience providing documentation and accommodations would have been the professional thing to do. I would not recommend this center to anyone who is a person of color, college students, young adults, or disabled individuals looking for support seeking support or accommodations. Farah Assefnia's response showed a complete lack of customer service skills. McLean Counseling Center needs to train their staff better or hire people who know how to treat clients with basic respect. They also need to update their website to specify what "Support Services & Accommodations" actually means.

It took me two hours to answer their questions, only to set up an appointment. On the morning of the appointment, they called and canceled and said we would contact you to reschedule, and nothing happened after that! After two weeks, I still can not even get them to talk. I was wondering if it's scamming at all.
