Rees is really a special little place set on a corner in quaint Geneva, Ohio. When you walk in, you'll immediately feel like you've stepped back in time 60+ years. They have done a great job at preserving the beauty of this building and restoring it to it's old pharmacy days. The soda shop counter made me feel like a little kid. The guy behind the counter prepared an excellent chocolate ice cream soda treat. I loved walking through the back and seeing the old pharmacy section which still had old bottles, books, medicine and machines. What dismays me a little bit is that this shop is more of a novelty than a convenience. I suppose I would stop in again if I needed a gift or wanted an ice cream treat, but I don't see how the shop will draw regular customers. I feel like they could do well to include more convenient store items to appeal to the community. Or maybe they do so well with the tourists that it's not necessary! Either way, would hate to see this place close after they've fought so hard so preserve the nostalgia. If you're a fan of the movie 'It's a Wonderful Life', this is the closest you're going to get to visiting Old Man Gower's drugstore. read more

Cute little store with a great assortment of candy. Great mix of older and newer styles. Candy along with a traditional soda fountain...it's amazing. Add in a mix of a variety store and it's a must stop on your way to GOTL. The pharmacy museum is an interesting look at what the building used to be. It's a fantastic way to pay tribute to that business. read more

Excellent place to stop, shop, and get a quick bite. The best part is the old fashioned soda counter! Pat is an excellent hostess and did a fantastic job of entertaining everyone from my niece's two year old to my 16 year old son and nephew. she not only served us but also got the teenagers to get behind the counter and make their own floats and orange sodas. by far the best event of the three days in Geneva on the lake. read more

My friend brought me to this place, because she knows of my sweet tooth. This establishment is a store with various knick knacks, but the highlight is the old fashioned soda fountain. this is a great little store to go find unique gifts, and last time i was there, a lot of nautical items. so many little thimgs to look at, and the old fashioned root beer floats are soooo good! if you like old five and dimes. you'll love this place! right down the street is a great detailing place to have your car cleaned, and also do window tinting ! Atomic Tint and detail. best job I've ever had done. also might as well enjoy a delicious glass of wine and maybe dinner at a winery within a couple of blocks! Gotta go here! Adorable ice cream soda fountain, candy store, antique/gift store and pharmacy museum all in one :-). It's like taking a step back in time, and the price for an ice cream cone is worthy of the good old days too -- great bargain. Shopppers Beware...We were visiting our friends from out of town and they took us to this local shop...we had picked out some items to purchase and my wife went to look at another piece...she picked it up and it fell out of her hand. She was very upset and immediately came over to tell me...at that time the sales clerk ran over to investigate...my wife at that time told her it fell and she offered to pay for it. I asked to see the item and noticed it had obviously been broken in another place and reglued...I asked the sales clerk if we could get a discount since it previously been broken. The sales clerk would not admit that it had been broken before...I at that time requested she call the owner of the store. The sales clerk did call the owner but proceeded to illustrate us as common criminals...We were asked by the owner to leave and never come back into the store again. I opted to take the high road and just pay the full $30 for the item and leave and never patron this location again! I am an executive myself in retail for over 30 years and this was the worst case of customer service I have been put thru...This is how retail itself gets a bad name! I hope this retailer reads this and rethinks the way the could have handled this situation. read more

Been to this store a number of times with my wife and our 14 year old son with high functioning autism and have spent a good deal of money here. Recently visited again and my son was looking at a book he picked off a bookshelf with lots of other books. From across the store I noticed my son was looking at a specific book and that the that the only employee in the store was hovering around my son, so I headed over to where they were. As soon as I reached the area I noticed my son was looking at the first couple of pages of the book. The employee snootily told him that the books were not to be opened until purchased. I was stunned by this statement as the books were on display, and not sealed in plastic, etc. Who is expected to buy a book without at least looking at some of the contents? Up to that point I was intending to buy whatever he was looking at since he rarely has an interest in reading unless forced to. Given the employee's attitude I told my son instead to put it back on the shelf and the employee came over and took it off the shelf and took it behind the counter, acting as if somehow my son's touching it had damaged it. She made it abundantly clear that my son was not welcome. Since he had done nothing more that a normal 14 year old would do, I can only conclude that she treated my son this way because of his disability. We will not be back as we do not patronize businesses that treat people with disabilities this way. read more
