I love Reesor's Farmer Market but unfortunately it is only opens from June to Fall, but luckily Reesor also operates Reesor's Market & Bakery on Main Street Stouffville which is opens year round! The smell of freshly baked goods really hit you the moment you walked in but in a good way. Cookies, Muffins, Cakes, Breads all baked in house... Reesor's also carries produces from bakeries, chocolatier (Charlinda), Coffee Roaster (Velvet Sunrise) in the neighbourhood and Ontario. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the neighbourhood!

Reesor is a well known farming family in Toronto/GTA. It is no surprise that Reesor's Market & Bakery is a miniature farmers' market. I visited one Saturday afternoon in winter to sate a butter tart craving. I found fresh farmers' market quality and home-styled baked good made by local producers at Reesor's. I also expected and found fresh produce, small batch home-style soup in jars, gourmet cheese from Ontario and Quebec and gourmet cold cuts. What I didn't expect were an array gourmet ready-to-heat frozen dinner entrees, including gluten free frozen dinner entrees, gluten free pantry and baking groceries, organic groceries, antibiotic free and organic meat, etc.. Reesor's Market is right on pulse on the food trends. If you are not particularly in need of organic and gluten free products, you would find the shelves and shelves of gourmet and unique pantry groceries vastly interesting. Here I found soup beanie bags (just add meat and cook a pot of stew or soup), spices and rubs, gourmet chilli sauces and cooking sauces, honey by Ontario beekeepers, local jams, speciality pasta, locally roasted ground coffee beans, chips and dried fruits, etc.. I was so amazed. I ran through shelves after shelves. I walked out of the store with butter tarts, a bag of soup beanie bag to make a Chuckwagon Chilli, and a can of Piri Piri Chicken Dry Rub. My dinner mate was in for a treat that evening.

However, I had no problem backing into a parking spot and walking into the store. I had a staff member ask me whether I wanted a cart. Sure! There are two cart sizes. He gave me a smaller one, which was perfect. This store is massive! The Loft, which is the second floor that has additional seating if you want to eat and drink, is on the second floor. You can either take the stairs or elevator. The latter is a welcome accessibility addition. The fruits and vegetables are in pristine condition. I bought fresh kale and made soup today. It's the best bunch that I have ever used in my life. The living well section is next door. It has a variety of plant-based, gluten-free, and dairy-free items. I managed to get a bunch of Gardein protein (the mock fried fish, chicken tenders, and turkey are my favourites) that were on sale. You can also learn about food by using the interactive information screen in the area. You can't miss it! The hot bar items looked good. If you want to eat a yummy meal, hit this bar. There was steak, lasagna, brussel sprouts, and more that I was eyeing for a while. There are also a bunch of meal kits that you can take home and make healthy meals. For example, if you feel like pad Thai, pick up the noodles that have the sauce, and then select whether you want veggies or meat. It's pretty cool. I wasn't expecting to camp out in the frozen vegetable section, but I did. I decided to give the riced mixed vegetables a shot. It is a decent substitution for rice if you are on a low-carb diet. I also got cauliflower mash with bacon in it. The bacon caught my interest. I also spent perhaps too much time hovering around the bakery. From brownies to store-made birthday cakes, this place has everything. It was almost like someone knew that I had arrived. Strawberry shortcakes and key lime cheesecakes were taunting me to buy and eat them. Longo's does get a bit expensive. However, the quality is always amazing and the selection is different than our average grocery store. I am probably shopping here once a month. It also helps to keep an eye on sale items. Don't forget to sign up for the rewards program. You earn points for every $25 that you spend here. I had a cheerful, friendly cashier. She asked me whether I wanted bags. I had brought my huge reusable bag, so I was good. I paid with my debit card and walked out happily with my goods. I just made my version of zuppa Toscana with many ingredients that I bought here. The chorizo sausage and kale that I got were so good. It's probably the best batch of soup that I have made in a long time. I love this new store. I will be back to give the hot bar food items a go! Since my commute has dissipated, when I need to do my twice-a-week run for groceries, I tend to hit Whitchurch-Stouffville. I get a bit of a nice, casual drive north, get what I need, and enjoy a relaxed drive heading home. For years, I have dropped by the Scotiabank, Swiss Chalet, and Harvey's in this plaza whenever I'm in town. I have eyed this Metro for years. I even remember it as a kid being a Dominion. I decided to get my groceries here for Easter dinner at this Metro. I came on a Saturday. I found a decent parking spot close to the entrance and walked over to the lineup that went around the store. I'd estimate that nearly fifteen people were ahead of me just before noon. I like being in a smaller town. Folks tend to be friendly. One man was walking over and said good morning. The guy in front of me said nothing. I replied back, which the man appreciated. We chatted for a bit, which made waiting in line more bearable. Staff here were great during these weird times. I got into the store perhaps twelve minutes later. I went to get a cart, but someone trying to get by wanted to bypass me. The male staff member asked him to wait until I went through with my cart. I loved that gesture. Safety is key. I normally don't shop at Metro. I have two in Scarborough that are my closest ones. This one is third on the distance list. I'm glad that I dropped by. I like it. The produce section was incredible. Everything was fresh and in pristine condition. I got a head of cauliflower that seemed flawless to me. I was here to get a turkey. Sadly, all turkeys that did not have stuffing were sold out, except for a 25-pound one. I didn't need one that large! Instead, I went with my first stuffed Butterball turkey. I got some other items, such as pop and ice cream. I went with sale items. Metro tends to be a bit expensive, but I like the selection that I don't mind paying a bit more. The male staff member, who was great having me enter the store with my cart first before the guy behind me, was also managing the checkout area. He saw that I had eight items and directed me over to the express lane. Yay! As with all lanes at the checkout area, there are markers on the floor where you should stand. I got a female cashier, who was wonderful packing my items into plastic bags and helping me with paying for these items. Metro accepts Air Miles. Make sure you tap your card's barcode, either with the card itself or your app, to collect points. There is tons of parking. I had a great first experience here. Even during the Easter weekend, there was a sense of calm and politeness that I liked at this store. (151)

For the past couple of months, I have passed by this cheerful blue Rexall drugstore and have flagged coming here. Well, I finally broke down two nights ago and came here after grocery shopping. It's located in the same plaza as Starbucks, Longo's, and Firehouse Subs. There was plenty of parking at 7 pm. I parked and walked in. I like the automatic doors that sense when there's movement. No need to worry about tugging on door handles. This drugstore is spacious, clean, and cheerful. I was mesmerized at all the products staring at me. A female staff member with a blue mask said hi and asked if I needed any help. I was here to get shampoo. She immediately said that I could find it in aisle 2, which was right in front of me. I probably would have figured it out on my own, but the extra help was much appreciated. I lucked out in that there was a sale on various shampoo brands. As of late, I have felt that my scalp was getting more itchy. I have a feeling that the sulphates in the two bottles of shampoo that I currently use are causing the irritation and perhaps product build-up. I was looking for a clarifying shampoo. I found the Herbal Essences line. It was perfect. I haven't used this brand in ages. I picked up two bottles and continued briefly browsing. I felt mighty safe here. I was the only customer in the store. I'd say that ten minutes later, another customer walked in and then left. I haven't browsed around a drugstore for a while. I typically get what I need and leave these days. It was nice to take my time because I was the lone customer in the store. There was a bit of familiarity browsing stress-free like we used to before this pandemic. I didn't realize that Baptiste makes cleansing foam. I haven't used dry shampoo for a while, simply because I don't go out that often and can afford to have oily hair at home. It was nice seeing my M&M's chocolate bars on sale. Naturally, I picked up some. This store did not have any Vegan Rob's snacks. However, it did have Smart Sweets, which I absolutely love. The berry fish are my favourite, but all varieties are yummy. As with most Rexall stores, this one has public washrooms. I didn't have a need to check them out, but there weren't any signs on the door to say that they weren't operational. There were two staff members at the cashout area. The woman who pointed me to the shampoo section had a male sidekick. There was plexiglass separating them from me, so we all felt safe. She was able to scan my items through the plexiglass. She asked me whether I wanted to sign up for Be Well rewards. Rexall has ditched Air Miles for its own program. I said yes and got my card. She advised to either register online, or download the app and register that way. Cool! I paid using a debit card. All went well. The male staffer asked if I wanted a bag. I did. Bags are free. He simply handed one to me. I bagged my stuff, thanked them both, especially the woman pointing me to the shampoo aisle, wished them a great evening, and left. I enjoyed shopping here. I'll definitely come back again. (180)

This place is huge, and sells all kinds of things. Parking is a bit hectic, even at 1:45 on a Thursday afternoon. The parking spots right in front of the Food Mart are very small, and scary for a big SUV like mine. But there is very frequent turnover, and if you just drive around the lot for 30 seconds, someone will be pulling out. The parking spaces in front of the stores facing the Food Mart are larger and a bit easier to navigate. This mall is great fun to go to. They have all manner of foods (fresh noodles! Great fruits! Asian stuffed toys and cosmetics! Fresh meat and seafood! The list goes on and on ...) and an excellent prepared food counter, and a Chatime outlet. We bought some mochi, some enormous strawberries, and a variety of dim sums from the food counter. Our selections included fried dough sticks (they actually reheat well in the air-fryer), fried squid, scallion pancakes, seafood and pork dumplings, some delicious pork and shrimp mini-pancakes. The squid was the way my daughter likes it (chewy), and I enjoyed some as well. Everything else was great, although the dumplings were a bit past their peak, and should have been switched out for new ones. We also enjoyed some delicious bubble tea from Chatime, which always has new, seasonal selections to tempt you. Basically, a trip to the Asia Food Mart is really fun, as they have such a diversity of products. Next time, I'm coming here to shop "for real" (meaning actual groceries, as opposed to lunch or snacks). The butchery and fish counters serve really fresh food at a good price, and there are some great deals on produce. You can't get around the fact that this is a snack haven. Not only are they clean, but they have a great variety of snacks and drinks, as well as your standard fare for everyday cooking. To me, the star of this place has to be their prepared foods area. Evidently after 8pm, they mark down lots of their prepared food items. From dim sum, to noodles, fried rice and other entrees, you can score plenty of items for $4-6 which were normally 2-3x that. I felt like a kid in a candy store and began snatching and hording all the things. I had to stop and remind myself we were on vacation, and would be living out of hotels for the next few days, so I limited myself to just a handful of items. We got some noodles, fried rice and dumplings, which we would end up eating for breakfast over the next few days. While nothing was mind blowing per se, the food was solid and certainly economical. If I lived in this area, I could see myself coming here on the regular just for the prepared foods. OVERALL - almost wish I hadn't come to this place, so I'd never knew what I was missing. Who does that? My family is trying to get ready for my Mother's Funeral this Saturday. I have no haggis, and a charge on my card. So on top of all of the arrangements that I've been dealing with this week I had to reach out to MasterCard and cancel my card for fear of further unauthorized transactions. I fell in love with the custard danishes (is that the plural of danish or do I need to go more formal with danish pastries?) when I got four of them in Ottawa before heading home. I got the following custard danishes: - Raspberry - Peach Each one was placed in a paper bag. I refrained from getting any bread, although anything with melted cheddar on it looked tempting to me. I scanned my Breadcrumbs QR code to earn points. I was thrilled to finally use my COBS app. The woman let me know how much my purchases cost. I paid with a debit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left. I should have bought more danishes. I had the raspberry and custard one as soon as I got in my car. The combination of custard with a touch of sweetness and fresh raspberries is perfection. The danish was so scrumptious. I devoured it before I headed home. After dinner that same day, I had the peach and custard danish. I loved the cubed, ripe peaches on top of the custard with the perfect amount of icing drizzled on top. This peach variety is seasonal and is so perfect when the weather is warmer. It screams summertime yumminess. I'm drooling as I reminisce about everything that I saw and inhaled. I want a scone and a loaf of any bread when I return. I'm so happy that York region has a location and that it's a leisurely drive for me to get my fix. (225)
