On April 1, 2024, I entered into an agreement with the contractor for the complete installation of a swimming pool at my property located in Palm Beach County, FL. The total agreed downpayment was $27,792.95, which I paid in full upfront via wire transfer. This payment represented the contract down-payment to start work. The contractor assured me the work would begin promptly, including obtaining necessary permits from Palm Beach County and commencing excavation, plumbing, structural, and finishing work. However, no permits were obtained (I confirmed this with Palm Beach County Building Division records). No work of any kind has been performed on the site and we had to hire a different contractor. I first became aware that the contractor had no intention of performing the work in October 2024, when repeated requests for updates, start dates, or progress went unfulfilled beyond vague excuses. Since then, I have maintained ongoing contact with the contractor via text messages and calls. In every communication, the contractor has acknowledged receipt of my payment but provided only stories and promises of repayment or future action, with no actual refund or meaningful resolution. Examples include: Promises to "send a check next week" that never materialized. Claims of "financial issues" or "waiting on suppliers" without evidence. Assurances that work would start "soon" repeated with zero follow-through. This pattern demonstrates financial dishonesty/misconduct (misuse or misappropriation of funds paid for a specific project) and abandonment of the job after receiving substantial payment without just cause or written extension. The contractor has failed to commence work within required timelines under F.S. 489.126 and has not refunded any portion despite demands. This has caused me significant financial harm ($27,792.95 lost), and emotional distress. read more

Still has not passed inspection with the county. No assistance from the company. Please go elsewhere. Tim is not communicating at all now and there is no progress for months. The paint applied to the patio is peeling now and needs to be redone. So disappointed. read more

the worse ever. 2 years of waiting for pool to be completed and my backyard is a sham. I paid him complete when pool was installed in ground but he failed inspection 3 times and has no interest in passing or completing job. I cannot give any stars. The worst!! Needs to be shut down read more

You would be better off dead than dealing with there incompetence and lies month after month after month after month. He has pools in the ground everywhere with no intention off finishing. Unqualified labor and is substituting inferior equipment for what is called for in my contract. My home has been a garbage dump for months. I have made many repairs due to there lack off care just so they can break more when they come back. read more

Terrible job. I have at least 30 rust stains in my pool. They used a metal brush to mix the epoxy or that's what the owner told me. The bristles broke off and they epoxied over it. Then the rust started. He tried to say its from my fertilizer or trees. I do not fertilize my yard I have dogs. Only tree I have is a Christmas tree palm on other side of yard. My pool never had rust stains before they redid my pool. He quoted price with light. Power would not work. He spoke with electrician over phone and he told him he would pay him to get power for the light. I paid the electrician. Tom came and I gave him the bill and he gave me a check that bounced. He has promised to have manufacture come out but never has. I have turned it over to attorney to sue him for 6700.00. He's a liar. Buyer beware ! Run from this company. read more

Refreshing Pools and Spas is such an amazing company. From the beginning, to the very end, they showed nothing but class and professionalism. Everyone we worked with from start to finish did a great job in person, over the phone or via email communication. From the inception of the vision of my pool and spa to the final orientation, the whole process exceeded anything I could have asked for. Our pool is absolutely beautiful. The layout and design is a view from our windows I enjoy seeing throughout my day. Review of Refreshing Pools & spa PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL REVIEWS, they are in line with our business dealings with Refreshing Pools & Spas. TERRIBLE! There are a few reviews available on YELP, BBB, as well as Google. You should always check/verify the CONTRACTING LICESNES INFORMATION that's provided. At the time of our pool project Mr. Eaton was eligible for contractor's exam and we were unaware that he was using another contractors license for work (this is legal in Florida, but increases risk to the consumer). You also have the right to have your entire project be completed by licensed contractors, we do not believe our pool plumbing was completed by a licensed pool piper (as needed for pool circulation systems). Be prepared for delay after delay and excuses that "He can only push his subcontractors so much." After having owned nine homes over the years and having been involved in new construction, total remodels and many yard renovations, working with Refreshing Pools & Spas was the absolute WORST experience ever. We paid a 50% deposit on our pool on October 1, 2018 and today (04/18/19) we finally got resolution with all our pool equipment running properly. Refreshing pools and Spas has had 98% of our money since January 6, 2019. Timeline: 50% deposit paid on October 1, 2018, we were told we would be swimming in 4-6 weeks. Which would put the completed project on or about Mid November, 2018. Building permits for our pool weren't even filed by Refreshing Pools & Spas until December 10, 2018 and remained in an unpaid status until December 31, 2018! Also during this time we were told "you'll still be swimming by Christmas". Our pool was not delivered until January 6th. Reasons for delays were negligence on the part of Refreshing Pools & Spas. He didn't have an available trailer to pick up our pool! Plumbing on pool was started on January 9, 2019 and continued to not hold pressure until January 25, 2019. Plumbing was sloppy, our yard was covered in spilled glue and there were elbows and angles and reducers in places that there should not be! Our plumbing was never at any time inspected by a licensed pool piper (as described by FL pool contracting requirements (or general plumber) prior to the pavers going in on top of it. Pool sat in ground with no work performed (other than cement collar poured on 2/4/19) from January 25 until February 12, 2019 due to Refreshing Pools & Spa's poor/improper planning of resources. Pool passed final inspection finally on March 19th. During the process, which has lasted close to six months, we were given excuse after excuse from Refreshing Pools & Spas. We were lied to about when jobs would be started. We were accused of making changes to things when in fact the things were either never discussed or addressed by Tim or were covered in such ambiguous terms in paperwork that he was able to change them to cheap, insufficient equipment. He did not keep accurate records/files about conversations had during the contracting phase to final completion. We were spoken to rudely and hung up on. During the entire six month process, Mr. Eaton was actually on site less than four times. During which times, he did nothing and stayed less than 10 minutes. The entire process was not efficiently managed by Refreshing Pools & Spas, and in fact, Mr. Eaton had no idea what the status of the project was during the entire process. Examples - pump was not running and operational for more than a week before we called to tell him! In addition, he called our screen cage contractor to tell him pavers were running behind and the cage would need to be delayed, when in fact, the work on our cage had begun two days before he called! We passed final inspection on March 19, 2019. However, the pool equipment was still not functioning as designed until today (04/19/2019). The Pool itself is beautiful and we believe that Viking makes a very good product. The project turned out great, but not from ANY effort or expertise of Refreshing Pools & Spa's! The business appears to have little technical expertise or integrity in planning or building a pool! We will never make the mistake of going with a contractor who does not himself hold a contractor's license and instead chooses to use another's license referred to in the state of Florida as " qualifier". Refreshing pools and spas is the best pool company I've ever encountered. The staff is extremely friendly and work efficiently. All of the pools he has showed are so much cheaper than any other pool companies out there. Tim Eaton, who is the owner of the company, is a very nice person who will actually care about the image that the customer seeks instead of ignoring my ideas completely. Amazing job! Do not ever use Refreshing Pools and Spas as your pool provider.  Their customer service is awful and the contractractors they use (one of them being Buccaneer Steel) are very unprofessional!!!! I am paying $70,000 for what I thought was going to be a beautiful pool and Spa.  But so far for the last couple of weeks I have had a pond of scum in my backyard. First, the spa was unlevel, and I believe because they let the pool just sit there rotting the whole pool is now unlevel. Of course,  I have had to start making my payments to the bank on this algae mess and I have paid Refreshing Pools and Spa 2/3 of their money.  Hmm everyone else has gotten something and all I have gotten is the pleasure of giving thousands of dollars out. We wrote them a check for $35,000 on 5/5 which is half the amount of the pool to begin work. Then on 6/22 we wrote them a check for 17,000 for the next step in the installation. The only payment we have left is the final payment and you can bet they will not receive that payment until everything about my yard and pool is immaculate. And, I hope they are not in a rush for it because I am going to make sure everything is immaculate before I write them that final check. I am sure they can wait about two months so that I can make sure everything is running right and there are no problems.  They were in no hurry to get me into the pool so they should be in no hurry to get their money, RIGHT!!! read more
